China's aviation offers global possibilities China’s recovering civil aviation industry is generating new opportunities for global players amid the country’s resilient economy and push for wider opening-up. The global civil aviation industry has begun to emerge from the shadow of the COVID-19 outbreak. The resumption of civil aviation is underway in China, said Liu Fang, secretary general of the International Civil Aviation Organization. “ICAO and the entire global aviation community are moving safely and steadily toward a new horizon. It’s a horizon where our lives and our world will return to normal again, where international air transport will be standing ready to expand the commercial market and supply chains.” China begins $4.9bn expansion project at Zhongchuan Airport China has started a CNY33.44bn ($4.9bn) expansion project at Zhongchuan International Airport in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province. The project is the third phase of the overall expansion programme at the airport as local authorities seek to redevelop the facility as an air transport corridor along the Silk Road. Under the expansion project, two new runways and a terminal will be developed. The expansion project will enable the airport to handle 38 million passengers and 300,000t of cargo per year. Chinese investor grows Slovenian aviation empire According to ex YU Aviation website Chinese businessman Kai Dai, who last year registered a new airline in Slovenia, recently became the part-owner of the Adria Airways Pilot Academy, fuelling speculation his company, Kylin Prime Capital, may become an important player in the country’s aviation sector. The Chinese-backed company established European Prime Airways last year. China Eastern unit OTT Airlines seeks regulatory approval According to Cirium 8 September OTT Airlines, the newly-launched subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines, has applied to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for regulatory approval to commence operations. Fitch Rates AVIC International's Proposed USD Senior Notes 'A-' Fitch Ratings has assigned AVIC International Holding Corporation's (AVIC International, A-/Stable) proposed US-dollar senior unsecured notes a rating of 'A-'. The proposed notes will be issued by AVIC International Finance & Investment Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of AVIC International, and will be unconditionally and irrevocably guaranteed by AVIC International. Flyht Receives Order from China Express to Factory Install AFIRS on ARJ 21 Aircraft and Announces China Express as a Launch Partner for its Actionable Intelligence Solution FLYHT Aerospace Solutions announced today that it has received an order for 20 AFIRS units that will be factory installed on the ARJ21 aircraft for China Express Airlines Co. Ltd., China’s first private regional airline. China Express will take delivery of the first 20 of an expected commitment for up to 100 of the newest aircraft type available in China over the next 5 years. China Express has also agreed to be a launch customer for Flyht’s Actionable Intelligence solution by integrating AFIRS data from both its current fleet and the incoming ARJ fleet with ground handling data from various systems. WFS to handle ABC Airlines, Air China Cargo’s new freighter operations at Madrid Airport Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has won two major contracts to handle AirBridgeCargo Airlines’ (ABC) and Air China Cargo’s new freighter operations at Madrid Airport. AirBridgeCargo has appointed WFS to provide ramp handling for its three Boeing 747F flights a week to Madrid, while Air China Cargo has chosen WFS for ramp and cargo handling services for the airline’s three B777 and B747 all-cargo flights per week to the Spanish capital.
