Construction of cargo terminal commences at Srinagar Airport In a move that will help ease supply of goods to and from Kashmir, construction of a dedicated air cargo terminal at Srinagar Airport has kick-started recently. The cargo terminal is being constructed in view of the great demand for supply of goods to and from Kashmir, Akash Deep Mathur, the director of Srinagar Airport told Greater Kashmir. Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport 12th busiest in the world; overtakes Frankfurt, Guangzhou airports Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has now become the world's 12th busiest airport, moving up four places from the 16th spot in 2017. According to the preliminary world airport traffic rankings for 2018 released by the Airports Council International (ACI) , it over took mega-hubs like Frankfurt, Dallas Forth Worth, Guangzhou and Istanbul Ataturk airports. GoAir tops ‘On-Time-Performance’ 6th month in a row GoAir has once again recorded the best On-Time Performance (OTP) at 86.3% as per the latest report of February month released by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This is the 6th consecutive month where DGCA has ranked GoAir on top of the OTP chart. IndiGo CCO carrier will launch flights to UK, Vietnam, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia and China IndiGo has announced plans to use its expanding fleet of Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft to connect more Indian cities to China, Vietnam, England, Myanmar and Saudi Arabia. William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo said, “We are looking very seriously into other points in South East Asia, notably the obvious ones of Vietnam and Myanmar. We also want to operate shortly to Saudi Arabia on the west side. We are seriously interested in getting in China as soon as we can. We are still selecting precise destinations.” India is 3rd largest market for air passenger traffic During the 11th Annual Airport Economics & Finance Conference & Exhibition Airports Council International (ACI) published its preliminary world airport traffic rankings covering passenger traffic, cargo volumes, and aircraft movements. According to it, India is the world’s 3rd largest aviation market for passenger traffic, trailing only behind U.S. and China for the year 2018. India’s move towards a more liberalized aviation market along with a stronger economy is seen as one of the factors that helped the country become one of the fastest-growing aviation markets, with air traffic growing rapidly in a relatively short time IndiGo to add 25 Airbus A321neo planes to fleet over next one year IndiGo is preparing to take delivery of 25 A321neo aircraft as part of plans to fly to more overseas destinations, including China. The carrier will take delivery of the aircraft over the next 12 months and will refit 15 of them with 220 seat-configurations These 15 aircraft will be used to destinations in Europe and busy domestic routes including Delhi and Mumbai.
