BLR Airport crosses 250 million passenger mark making it the first PPP airport in South India to have achieved this milestone Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR Airport) has achieved a significant milestone by crossing the 250 million passenger mark since the launch of its operations or Airport Opening Day (AOD), during the last weekend of June 2022. An additional 50 million passengers travelled from BLR Airport in a span of nearly three years despite the pandemic and consequential slowdown. Furthermore, BLR Airport also achieved the milestone of 2 million Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) since AOD, making it the fastest Public-Private Partnership (PPP) airport in South India to achieve this milestone. Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) MD & CEO Hari Marar, said, “Reaching the 250 million milestone reassures us that our customer-centric approach, innovation, and technically advanced infrastructure, in conjunction with the introduction of new routes and working closely with our airline partners and other stakeholders have led to consistent growth at BLR Airport. The milestone that we have achieved in such a short span is proof of our dedicated efforts to introduce the best to our passengers.” Delhi Airport Switches To Renewable Sources For Its Energy Needs Delhi Airport has moved to green energy and uses only hydro and solar power for all its energy needs effective from 1st June. With this, Delhi Airport becomes the first airport in India to run entirely on hydro and solar power. This is a major step by the airport toward achieving the ambitious goal of becoming a Net Zero Carbon Emission Airport by 2030. The company is focusing on various initiatives such as renewable energy development and usage, energy efficiency, green building, programs with airlines, operational efficiency measures, green transportation, tree plantation, and management of greenhouse gases (GHG) as per the world body of airport – Airport Council International’s (ACI) Airport Carbon Accreditation. flypop partners with Hi Fly in the United Kingdom flypop announced that it is forming a joint venture with Hi Fly airline in the United Kingdom. The two companies have been partnering throughout the global pandemic utilising flypop’s aircraft for cargo operations. This new partnership agreement will see the two expand their collaboration onto passenger flights out of the United Kingdom. Flypop CEO & Founder (Nino) Navdip Singh Judge said “We expect a surge in demand in and out of our home market over the coming months and we look forward to serving our customers with the newly formed joint venture. We are in active discussions with several parties to grow the fleet further in the near future and look forward to welcoming these aircraft to the joint venture”. Turkish Airlines and IndiGo resumed their existing codeshare partnership IndiGo, India’s largest airline, and Turkish Airline, the national flag carrier airline of Türkiye, have resumed their codeshare flights and partnership by opening the sale earlier this month. The codeshare is considered as Bilateral Free Flow Codeshare wherein both the airlines will place its code on another’s flights. In the 1st phase, both the airlines are open for sale, with Turkish Airlines as the marketing carrier, and IndiGo as the operating carrier. Turkish Airlines will be placing its code on trunk route flights operated by 6E on the Delhi-Istanbul route and later from six domestic destinations in India including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata. IndiGo CEO Mr. Ronojoy Dutta said “We are pleased to resume our strategic partnership with Turkish Airlines to offer more options to our passengers. Owing to the recovery of overall aviation industry, this agreement will extend our on-time, affordable, courteous, and hassle-free travel experience by expanding the choices available to our customers for journeys beyond Istanbul, using Turkish Airlines’ extensive network through a dozen destinations covered by our agreement.” Acumen Aviation © 4 July 2022 All Rights Reserved.
