AirAsia gets aggressive in China market, signs JV to operate budget carrier

AirAsia Berhad has partnered with Everbright and Henan Government Working Group to establish a low-cost carrier (LCC) in China. AirAsia  said the parties had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which outlines how it will establish a joint venture known as AirAsia (China), in operating a low-cost aviation business based in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province in central China.

Avolon predicts China will need 3,200 new aircraft by 2026

China’s booming air travel market will require 3,200 new airliners over the coming decade, with more than 50% still to be ordered, according to a new study released by lessor Avolon. In its white paper on the Chinese market, Avolon said China is the largest generator of outbound passengers, with more than 120 million people taking overseas flights in 2016.

Hong Kong chief delivers pitch to lessors

Hong Kong chief executive CY Leung has opened the ISTAT Asia conference setting out the advantages of the city to the global aircraft leasing sector. In a speech, he says that the aviation industry contributes around 3% of Hong Kong’s GDP, but it is “keen to diversify and add value…which is why we are now targeting the aircraft leasing business.”

Minsheng delivers first Chinese mainland registered Gulfstream G650

Minsheng Financial Leasing has delivered the first Gulfstream G650 to be registered on the Chinese mainland B- registry. According to records G650ER (MSN 618) was B-3255 in May. It flew via Anchorage, Alaska, on delivery to Tianjin. The CAAC, China’s civil aviation regulator, certificated the Gulfstream G650 and G650ER in February 2017.
