Chinese Outbound travel to jump 25% in 2021

Chinese outbound tourism numbers are set to jump by more than 25% this year from 2020 but remain “basically at a standstill” compared to pre-pandemic levels reported last week citing official projections. A total of 25.62 million Chinese tourist trips overseas are expected to be made in 2021, CCTV said, citing an annual report on outbound tourism from the China Tourism Academy, part of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

China to promote further recovery of civil aviation industry

China’s civil aviation authorities will introduce comprehensive measures to facilitate further recovery of the industry. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said it will strive to boost sustainable and stable recovery of the sector with a key focus on COVID-19 prevention and control and the industry’s safe operation. Civil aviation authorities will roll out policies and support measures to ensure priority tasks such as safe operation, pandemic prevention and control, exploring market potentials, enhancing the efficiency of resource allocation, operation support capabilities, among others.

Cross-border helicopter waypoint set to benefit Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

Hong Kong aviation companies are looking forward to the opening of a cross-border helicopter waypoint in Qianhai, Shenzhen, South China’s Guangdong Province to better link the cities and facilitate the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), ahead of an expected border reopening with mainland.

Dominica signs historic visa waiver agreement with China

The Commonwealth of Dominica and the People’s Republic of China are celebrating a significant milestone in their 17-year diplomatic relationship. This accumlated in a visa-free agreement signed in Dominica’s capital Roseau on 22nd November. The new agreement will enable citizens unlimited travel between both countries without requiring a pre-departure visa enhancing business and trade cooperation.

Shandong Airlines, FTS sign digital deal for Boeing 737 fleet

Shandong Airlines and FTS have signed a cooperation agreement to formally launch the first domestic Digital Aircraft pilot project for the Boeing-only airline fleet. This is the pilot deployment of FTS with full hardware and software solutions to digitalisation of Shandong Airlines Boeing 737 fleet, including multiple stages of aircraft modification, airworthiness certification, applications verification and final flight testing. The first aircraft is expected to be modified and enter into service in the middle of 2022.

Viasat, China Satcom Set to Provide IFC Service in Chinese Airspace

Viasat‘s in-flight connectivity (IFC) Ka-band service is now ready to commence operation in Chinese airspace. In collobration with China Satellite Communications (China Satcom), Viasat said it will soon begin delivering IFC service to domestic and international airlines via the Ka-band ChinaSat-16 satellite system.
