Mumbai airport handles 1,000 flight movements in a single day

Capacity-constrained Mumbai airport has for the first time crossed 1,000 aircraft movements in a day, breaking its earlier record of 988 single-day arrivals and departures.

Nepal, India to hold talks on opening up new air routes

Nepal and India will hold high-level talks next week to discuss the possibilities of opening up new air routes between the two countries, including one from Janakpur, a major city of religious and historical importance.

Qatar Airways will soon apply to launch airline in India: CEO

Qatar Airways will “soon” move an application to launch a full-service airline in India for domestic operations, according to its chief Akbar Al Baker. He said the proposed airline would be fully financed by Qatar’s sovereign fund. It would have Indians heading the board and as most of its members. In February this year, he had said it plans to launch an airline in India with at least 100 planes.

Vistara, IndiGo need to make domestic network denser: Airbus India president

The next step for Vistara and IndiGo is to make their domestic network denser. Vistara and IndiGo would like to cover whole of the domestic territory with good frequencies. There’s a lot of noise about the Vistara order, but I can’t comment on that. I can tell you that we are fighting (with Boeing) on it. The type of aeroplanes most relevant in the local market is A320, A319, A321, A320 Neo. A lot of them are already in service in India as these simplify operations said Airbus India’s president and managing director Pierre de Bausset.

Vadodara airport seeks nod to operate round-the-clock

The Vadodara airport authorities have sought permission from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for operating the facility round-the-clock. At present, the airport, located in the city’s Harni area, operates from 6 am to 9.45 pm.
