Air India announces transformation plan “Vihaan.AI”

Air India announced a new transformation plan titled “Vihaan.AI” to establish itself, once again, as a world-class global airline with an Indian heart over the next 5 years with a roadmap to grow its fleet and route network. Air India CEO & MD Mr. Campbell Wilson stated “This is the beginning of a historic transformation for Air India, and the dawn of a new era. We are laying the foundation for a brave new Air India, with a renewed sense of purpose and incredible momentum. Vihaan.AI is our transformation plan to make Air India the world class airline it once was, and that it deserves to be again. Akasa Air adds Delhi to growing network

Akasa Air announced the carrier is to launch a new daily from Bangalore to Delhi commencing 7TH October with new service on Delhi-Ahmedabad route commencing the same day.  The carrier plans to scale up to 250 weekly flights by 10th October, focused on metro to tier 2 & 3 route connectivity with a fleet of 18 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft by March 2023. Akasa Air Chief Commercial Officer Praveen Iyer stated “Elated to have added our national capital, New Delhi, to our fast-growing network. With our fifth aircraft coming into operations shortly, we will achieve the milestone of 250 flights per week soon. Apart from flights between Delhi and Bengaluru, we further augment our network between Bengaluru and Ahmedabad by adding the 2nd frequency between this route. In addition, we also announce another new route, Delhi – Ahmedabad – Delhi with very convenient timings, all effective 7th October. As Indian air travelers continue to return to travel in promising numbers, Delhi has been witnessing significant revival in passenger traffic. We look forward to catering to the growing demand and continue adding more destinations on our network”.

IndiGo grows Middle East route network

IndiGo has announced significant expansion of its Middle East route network from 30th October 2022. The carrier will launch a new Hyderabad-Riyadh route operating daily and increase frequencies on Dubai-Mangalore and Hyderabad-Doha routes. IndiGo Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer, Mr. Sanjay Kumar said “We are pleased to strengthen our network by introducing new international flights and frequencies. The new connection to Riyadh will enhance business connectivity and easy access to tourist attractions like Al Masmak Fortress, National Museum, Heet Caves, Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Grand Mosque, and Kingdom Center Tower, among others. In addition, these flights will make travel affordable to the Middle East through direct connections and additional capacity.”

Qantas launches new route from Sydney to Bengaluru

Qantas launched a new route between Sydney and Bengaluru with effect from 14th September operating four times weekly using Airbus A330-200 aircraft, boosting tourism and economic relations between Australia and India. Qantas International CEO Andrew David said “The addition of Bengaluru to our route map deepens our ties with India and follows the launch of direct services from Australia to Delhi last year which have also proven popular. Qantas is now the only airline offering direct flights between Australia’s two largest cities and the north and south of India.”
