Air India to Begin Its Longest Ever Flight to San Francisco From Bengaluru
Air India announced that it will begin its longest non-stop flights from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport to San Francisco commencing 11th January using Boeing 777-200LR aircraft 11th January 2021 operating twice weekly. In an statement the carrier said “This would be the first non-stop flight between Bengaluru and the United States, connecting the world’s two tech hubs – the original Silicon Valley and the Silicon Valley of India.”
Bengaluru’s Kempe Gowda International airport will be connected by train services
Bengaluru will shortly be connected with the city’s International airport by taking a train service which will be provided by the Indian Railways’ South Western Railway zone. KIA halt station, built by Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), is coming up between Doddajala and Devanahalli stations. The station, which is just 3.5 km from the airport terminal, is expected to benefit 28,000 airport employees as well as passengers. The BIAL will operate shuttle services between the halt station and airport terminal which will be based on train schedules on this route.
Bengaluru Airport records 26-month high cargo exports
Bengaluru: Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BIAL/ KIAB) exported 34,339 metric tonnes (MT) of cargo in October 2020, recording a 26-month high in tonnage. Bengaluru airport witnessed a highest-ever domestic outbound tonnage of 8,117 MT in October, largely driven by e-commerce shipments. Perishable commodities, which have been the major growth driver for Bengaluru airport in FY 2020-21, continued to be the top international commodity, accounting for 12% of total exports in October. Doha emerged as the top destination in October 2020, with 1,095 MT.
BEL, CSIO join hand for developing aviation, perimeter security technologies
The Panchkula Division of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), Chandigarh will work as joint partners for design and development of futuristic technologies in the area of aviation and perimeter security. A memorandum of understanding in this regard was signed between the two organisations. BEL is a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, while CSIO is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research under the Ministry for Science and Technology.
Vistara Ramps Up Services To UK With New Mumbai-London Route
Vistara will operate special, non-stop flights between Mumbai and London Heathrow from 16 January 2021. The airline will operate these special flights thrice a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, complementing its recently-launched service between Delhi and London Heathrow as part of the ‘transport bubble’ agreement between India and the UK. The flights will be operated on Vistara’s brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara, said “We are delighted at the very positive response to our service between Delhi and London Heathrow which has encouraged us to further strengthen the network by adding connectivity from Mumbai as we see considerable demand between the two countries, and remain optimistic about the future.”
