Akasa air aims to commence operations by May-June

Akasa Air is aiming to commence operations in late May or early June this year following delivery its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in April. The carrier plans to operate from metros to Tier II and III cities. There will also be flights from metros to metros so that the aircraft are deployed within its route network. Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dube stated “We hope to get our first aircraft in the second half of April, the first commercial flight in late May or early June. we are working with the government, DGCA to go through all of the requirements that are there.”

Economic Survey 2022 says Air India sale will boost recovery in aviation sector

The Recovery of the Indian aviation sector will benefit from the sale of Air India and the handover of the airline to the Tata Group, the Economic Survey tabled in Parliament on 31st January stated. The annual report card of the economy stated the Air India transaction, coupled with a boost to digital infrastructure and structural reforms in telecommunications, would have a positive impact on the pace of recovery of the aviation sector.

HAL to build made-in-India radio altimeter for Dornier aircraft

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is all set to indigenously-develop radio altimeters for the ‘Dornier Do-228’ operated by the Indian Armed Forces and for the civilian operations. In December 2021 issued an Request for Proposal (RFP) for radio altimeters for the HAL Dornier Do-228 and has invited the Indian start-ups and defence firms to design and development and subsequent supply of fully assembled radio altimeters.

Indigo to start flight services from Kadapa to Vijayawada and Chennai from 27th March

Indigo Airlines has entered into an agreement with AP Airports Development Corporation Limited (APDCL) to operate two new routes from Kadapa to Vijayawada and Chennai.

Mangaluru airport sees 70% growth in domestic passenger traffic

Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) announced it has recorded 70% growth in domestic passengers for the calendar year 2021, compared to 2020.
