DAE to acquire AWAS, a leading aircraft leasing company
Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) Ltd. Announced 24 April the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of the AWAS group of companies, a global leader in aircraft leasing, from funds managed by Terra Firma Capital Partners and the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction will be financed by DAE’s internal resources and committed debt financing. The transaction is subject to required regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2017. AWAS is one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, with a fleet of 263 owned, managed and committed narrow and wide-body aircraft, including a pipeline of 23 new aircraft on order to be delivered before the end of 2018. AWAS currently provides customized aviation solutions to over 85 airline customers in over 45 countries.
GOAL introduces eight ATR72-600 to its fleet for KGAL investors
GOAL German Operating Aircraft Leasing GmbH & Co. KG arranged the financing for eight ATR72-600 aircraft with Propius Limited, an aircraft leasing company belonging to Stobart Group Limited. The aircraft will continue to operate with Stobart Air (Ireland), primarily providing flights under an Aer Lingus franchise agreement.
NAC purchased and immediately leased back one Embraer E190, MSN 19000202, to Virgin Australia Airlines
Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) announced 26 April that it has purchased and immediately leased back one Embraer E190, MSN 19000202, to Virgin Australia Airlines. This is the first aircraft to deliver as part of a six-aircraft lease deal signed earlier this year.
SMBC Aviation Capital concludes four aircraft delivery to Jeju Air
SMBC Aviation Capital 21 April delivered a Boeing B737-800 (MSN 37543) to Jeju Air following a transition and modification programme project managed by the lessor’s technical asset management team in conjunction with its MRO partners at Dublin Airport. This delivery concludes a four aircraft delivery programme with Jeju Air and brings the total number of aircraft on lease to the Korean airline to eleven.
SMBC Aviation Capital Delivers First Airbus A350 XWB for Asiana Airlines
Asiana Airlines, one of Korea’s and Asia’s leading airlines, 21 April added its first Airbus A350 XWB (MSN 0094) to its fleet. The A350-900 was delivered by SMBC Aviation Capital and is the first of a six A350-900 sale and leaseback deal which also includes the financing of Pre-Delivery Payments due to the aircraft manufacturer. The aircraft is also the first A350 XWB to be operated by a Korean airline.
SMBC Aviation Capital to purchase three new Boeing 737-800s
SMBC Aviation Capital announced 25 April that it is to purchase three Boeing 737-800s, bringing its total owned, managed and committed portfolio for B737-800s to 198. Two of the three new aircraft will be placed on lease with Japanese airline ANA. The remaining aircraft will be placed on lease over the coming weeks. All three aircraft will be powered with CFM engines.
