Air Canada to acquire 30 ES-30 electric-hybrid aircraft from 2028

Air Canada announced it has signed a purchase agreement for 30 ES-30 electric-hybrid aircraft. The aircraft are expected to enter service in 2028, will generate zero emissions flying on battery power and yield significant operational savings and benefits. As part the agreement, Air Canada has also acquired a $5 million equity stake in Heart Aerospace. Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau said “Air Canada has taken a leadership position in the industry to address climate change. The introduction into our fleet of the ES-30 electric regional aircraft from Heart Aerospace will be a step forward to our goal of net zero emissions by 2050. Already, Air Canada is supporting the development of new technologies, such as sustainable aviation fuels and carbon capture, to address climate change. We are now reinforcing our commitment by investing in revolutionary electric aircraft technology, both as a customer for the ES-30 and as an equity partner in Heart Aerospace.”

Apollo and Embraer to collaborate on Embraer Customer Financing

Embraer announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with an affiliate of Apollo on behalf of its clients and managed funds, with respect to a $1.5 billion customer financing program for Embraer’s regional aircraft. Apollo collaborating with Embraer, will offer a comprehensive range of innovative and bespoke financing  solutions across the spectrum of customer and delivery financing and include Apollo’s financing capabilities encompass various debt financing alternatives along with PDP (Progress Delivery Payment) financing and a full suite of leasing options.

Ethiopian Airlines to lease Three Boeing 767 Freighter Aircraft from Titan Aircraft Investments

Titan Aircraft Investments announced the lease of three Boeing 767-300ER converted freighters with Ethiopian Airlines Group with delivery of the aircraft imminent follow by the second and third in 2023. Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew stated “This dry lease agreement will be fundamental to our fast growing cargo operation as Ethiopian is a key global player in the air cargo business. We are glad about the partnership with Titan Aircraft Investments to enhance our capacity with three more B767 converted aircraft in addition to the existing nine widebody freighters and four B737 converted aircraft.”

GlobalX signs LOI for 50 All-Electric Alice Aircraft

Eviation Aircraft announced GlobalX has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) ordering 50 all-electric commuter Alice aircraft. The aircraft will open up new routes in GlobalX’s key markets in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. GlobalX CEO Ed Wegel stated “The Alice aircraft will allow us to offer sustainable, regional flights to and from major markets, and is the first step in our initiative to be a zero-carbon emissions airline by 2050. We are proud to be a launch customer for Eviation and lead the charge in bringing carbon-free air travel to our passengers.”

Porter Airlines to lease six Embraer 195-E2 aircraft from TrueNoord

Porter Airlines announced to lease six Embraer 195-E2 aircraft from TrueNoord for delivery commencing in 2023 and form part of Porter’s first firm E2 order for 30 E195-E2s. The carrier , will operate the new E2 aircraft to key destinations across Canada and the United States from its base at Toronto Pearson. Porter Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey Brown stated “The growth plans that Porter is pursuing require support from dedicated partners. TrueNoord fits this mould, not simply from a financial perspective, but also by understanding our vision and how we intend to use the E195-E2 to help introduce a new level of service throughout North America.”
