Atlas Air Worldwide Signs Agreement for GEnx Engines

Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings signed an agreement with GE Aviation to purchase GEnx-2B engines for its four Boeing 747-8 Freighters along with a 20-year TrueChoice Overhaul agreement, which covers the time and material required to overhaul the GEnx-2B engines. The agreements are valued at more than $800 million list price over the life of the service agreement.

Boeing: Southeast Asia Aviation Market Well Positioned for Recovery

Boeing anticipates airlines in Southeast Asia will need 4,400 new airplanes valued at $700 billion to support expanding demand for air travel over the next 20 years. The intra-Southeast Asian market will become the fifth largest in the world by 2039, and the vast domestic and regional air-travel network across the region positions it well for a post-pandemic recovery, according to Boeing’s 2020 Commercial Market Outlook (CMO). With low-cost carriers providing affordable service and added capacity, the CMO projects passenger traffic growth in Southeast Asia to grow by 5.7% annually throughout the forecast period. Through the period, Southeast Asia will become the second largest aviation market in the Asia-Pacific region after China.

Delta Increases Frequency of Sydney-Los Angeles Routes with its Flagship A350

Delta Air Lines will increase the frequency of its nonstop service between Sydney International Airport (SYD) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) beginning March 8, 2021. The route will operate six times per week with Airbus 350-900 aircraft.

JetBlue Takes Delivery of Its First Airbus A321neo Aircraft Featuring Reimagined Mint® for North American Flying

JetBlue announced it has formally taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo (new engine option) aircraft configured with the airline’s reimagined premium Mint experience and an all-new onboard layout.  JetBlue’s A321neo with Mint features 16 Mint suites – including two Mint Studios™ – and 144 core seats. It will first operate on select flights between New York-JFK and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this summer.

LATAM and Delta Air Lines receive final approval in Brazil for Joint Venture agreement

LATAM and Delta Air Lines have received final approval, without conditions, of their commercial agreement (“trans-American Joint Venture Agreement” or “JVA”) by the Brazilian competition authority – the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) –  after initial approval was granted in September 2020. The JVA seeks to enhance the route networks served by both airlines, delivering a seamless travel experience between North and South America. The Delta-LATAM agreement has also been approved in Uruguay while the application process continues in other countries, including Chile.

PAL Aerospace and De Havilland Canada Announce MOU to Develop Dash 8 P-4 Special Mission Aircraft

PAL Aerospace and De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited  announced the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly pursue the development of a fully missionized Dash 8-400 aircraft, called the “Dash 8 P-4” for maritime patrol (“MPA”), intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (“ISR”), as well as other applications. Modified with auxiliary fuel tanks, the Dash 8 P-4 will have superior range, endurance, and time-on-station.
