Aviation Capital Group Announces Delivery of One A320neo to Volaris

Aviation Capital Group announced the delivery of one new Airbus A320neo aircraft on long-term lease to Volaris. This aircraft, featuring Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM engines, is the first A320neo to deliver to Volaris from ACG as part of a multi-aircraft transaction between ACG and the airline. “This new aircraft supports Volaris strategy to maintain our world leading ultra-low cost levels and a sustainable development of our network. We would like to thank ACG for their valuable partnership,” said Holger Blankenstein, Volaris Executive Vice President.

Boeing and Alaska Airlines Partner to Make Flying Safer and More Sustainable

Boeing and Alaska Airlines announced they are partnering on the latest Boeing ecoDemonstrator program and will flight test about 20 technologies on a new 737-9 to enhance the safety and sustainability of air travel. In flights beginning this summer, Boeing and Alaska will test a new halon-free fire-extinguishing agent that significantly reduces effects on the ozone layer, evaluate an engine nacelle designed to reduce noise and assess cabin sidewalls made from recycled material, among other projects. “Boeing is committed to continually improve air safety and the environmental performance of our products,” said Stan Deal, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO. “We’re proud to collaborate with our hometown customer and other partners around the world this year to make flying more sustainable.”

Emirates to launch a new service to Miami

Emirates announced it will launch a four times weekly service between Florida’s second largest city, Miami, and Dubai, from 22ND July operated by Boeing 777-300(ER) aircraft expanding its US network to 12 destinations. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates Chairman and Chief Executive said: “Launching a non-stop service to Miami at this time signals our confidence in travel recovery as countries progress on their vaccination programmes and implement protocols for the safe resumption of flight and travel activity, particularly in the US and the UAE. It also underscores our strong commitment to the US market which Emirates now serves with over 70 weekly flights across 12 gateways.”

JetBlue Promotes Dmitry Kopylov to Vice President, Strategic Sourcing and Fleet

JetBlue announced that Dmitry Kopylov has been named the airline’s vice president, strategic sourcing and fleet. Kopylov has been with JetBlue since 2017 as the airline’s director, strategic sourcing. He will lead all sourcing and fleet management, including initiatives to source and optimize aircraft engines and any additions of next generation technologies to advance JetBlue as an industry leader. In addition, Kopylov will lead sourcing of all products and services for JetBlue.

Texel Air Orders Second 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter

Boeing and Texel Air, a subsidiary of Chisholm Enterprises announced an order for the Bahrain-based airline’s second 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF). Texel Air announced its first order for the Boeing Converted Freighter earlier this year, and is the first air carrier in the Middle East region to include the 737-800BCF in its fleet. Globally, the 737-800BCF now has more than 190 orders and commitments.
