Embry-Riddle, Singapore Airlines Team for New Pilots

The Asia-Pacific region will lead the world in demand for pilots over the next 20 years, according to Boeing’s Pilot Outlook 2017-2036, with an estimated 253,000 new crewmembers needed. A few of these future hires just gained an inside track to a job at Singapore Airlines, under a partnership with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University announced at the Singapore Airshow 2018.

FEAM Is Selected by WOW Air to Provide Full Technical Handling Line Maintenance Support at Five U.S. Locations

FEAM Maintenance / Engineering announced that it has entered into a full technical handling agreement with WOW Air spanning five U.S. airport locations. Under its EASA 145 approval, FEAM will provide technical support on WOW Air’s fleet of Airbus A320 CEO/NEO aircraft as well as Airbus A330 CEO and soon to enter service, A330 NEO aircraft. The agreement specifies line maintenance support services to include Transit Checks, A Checks, and AOG support beginning in April 2018.

Honeywell and Eastar Jet Sign Wheels and Brakes Agreement

Honeywell is renewing its wheels and brakes contract for Eastar Jet’s Boeing B737NG fleet of 27 aircraft for the next five years. The extended agreement will provide high-performance Honeywell wheels and braking systems, including exchange, repair and overhaul services for the South Korea-based low-cost airline.

Jet Aviation’s Mainland U.S. FBOs Are All In on IS-BAH

Jet Aviation’s eight wholly owned U.S. FBOs have achieved Stage I registration to the International Business Aviation Council’s International Standard for Business Aircraft Handling (IS-BAH). The goal, according to the General Dynamics subsidiary, is to ensure the highest levels of safety, secure ground-handling services, and customer service across the U.S.

Jetex Launches Its First U.S. FBO in California

Jetex Flight Support has launched an FBO in partnership with Luxivair at San Bernardino International Airport (SBD) in California. While Jetex has an operations center in Miami, this is the first FBO Jetex will establish in the U.S. Guests at the Luxivair terminal will receive ground handling services from Jetex. The two-story, 12,000-sq-ft Luxivair terminal features a pilot lounge, flight-planning room, conference rooms, snooze room, and crew cars. Customers can also take advantage of the terminal’s concierge services, as well as its movie theater, snack bar, and outdoor lounge area.

Singapore Airlines’ First Boeing 787-10 to Serve Osaka

Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced today that Osaka will be the first scheduled destination for its new Boeing 787-10 fleet, with services expected to begin in May 2018. SIA will be the world’s first airline to operate the 787-10. SIA has 49 Boeing 787-10s on firm order, with the first aircraft due for delivery from Boeing’s North Charleston, South Carolina production facility in March 2018.

U.S. Bizav Flights Top 3 Million for 1st Time in Decade

Business aviation flights in the U.S. and Canada topped 3 million last year, reaching that mark for the first time since 2008, according to a 2017 Business Aircraft Activity Review released today by Argus International. The 30-page review, which details Argus TraqPak flight activity data in 2017, reports that business aviation flights increased 3.9 percent overall and flight hours jumped 5.5 percent over 2016.
