ALC announces Lease Placement of Five New Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners with China Southern Airlines Air Lease Corporation announced long term lease agreements with China Southern Airlines for five new Boeing 787-9 aircraft outfitted with GE’s GEnx engines, all from ALC’s order book with Boeing.  Delivery of the aircraft is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2019, with three deliveries in 2019 and two deliveries in 2020. ALC currently has Airbus A320s, A321s, and Boeing 737-800s on lease to China Southern Airlines. CALC named Global Transport Finance’s ‘Aircraft Lessor of the Year 2016’ China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited (CALC), the largest independent operating aircraft lessor in China, has received awards for “Aircraft Lessor of the Year 2016” and “Aircraft Lessor JOLCO Finance Deal of the Year” at the Global Transport Finance (GTF) 2016 Annual Gala Awards Ceremony. CALC closed its first JOLCO finance deal in relation to two new Airbus A320s delivered to Pegasus Airlines of Turkey in June 2016. This ground-breaking transaction is the first time a lessor has used JOLCO structure in an aircraft leasing transaction deal with an airline from Turkey. China’s Comac C919 Edges Towards First Flight China’s efforts to develop a second airliner to boost the nation’s economic competitiveness and prestige is slowly coming to fruition in the form of the C919, the inaugural flight of which officials expect as soon as late March. Developed by state-run Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac), the narrowbody has reached the early stages of pre-flight trials, including taxi and brakes. In July 2016, leasing groups Friedmann Pacific Asset Management and China Aircraft Leasing Limited signed a deal to buy up to 60 of the aircraft. Chinese Lessor Orders ARJ-21 Jets in $2.3b Deal for Use in Indonesia China Aircraft Leasing Group (CALC) has bought 30 Comac ARJ-21 regional jets and signed options for 30 more in a deal potentially worth $2.3 billion. The planes would be used by an unnamed Indonesian airline in which CALC's parent, Hong Kong-based investment firm Friedmann Pacific Asset Management. The 78-90 seater jets would be delivered over the next five years. Ireland benefits from surge in Chinese investment Chinese investment in Ireland rose to almost $3bn (€2.78bn) last year. The record investment in 2016 places the country amongst the top five recipients of Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in Europe, law firm Baker McKenzie has said. The law firm said the "unprecedented rise" in investment into Ireland was largely down to the purchase of Irish aircraft leasing business Avolon by China's aviation and shipping giant HNA Group for $2.5bn (€2.32bn). Loong Air to lease 20 aircraft from AerCap AerCap announced it has signed a lease agreement for twenty new aircraft with Chinese carrier, Loong Air.
