Acumen’s Take
On Air India’s Cost-Savings Programme
Air India’s initiative reflects the growing importance of cost discipline as airlines manage fuel, airspace and operational pressures. Stronger spending controls can support financial resilience while the carrier continues investing in fleet, network and operational improvements.
On IndiGo’s Aircraft Financing
The IndiGo financing highlights the growing role of GIFT IFSC in aircraft funding and cross-border aviation finance. Combining bank funding with export credit support can provide airlines with additional flexibility when financing large fleet programmes.
On Mumbai Airport’s Winter Slots
The decision to retain winter slots provides airlines with greater near-term schedule certainty during Terminal 1 redevelopment. Longer-term capacity rebalancing will require coordination between the airport and carriers as Mumbai’s operating environment continues to evolve.
