Air India Completes Revival of Legacy Grounded Fleet
Air India announced the restoration of its final grounded aircraft, a Boeing 777-300ER (VT-ALL), completing the revival of 30 aircraft inherited at the time of its privatisation in 2022. The milestone marks the conclusion of a major fleet recovery programme aimed at restoring operational capability. The airline will now move into the next phase, with its Boeing 777 fleet scheduled for full retrofit beginning in 2027.
Akasa Air Partners with API for Crew Accommodation Technology
Accommodations Plus International (API) entered into a strategic partnership with Akasa Air to implement an integrated crew accommodation management platform. The system will automate and streamline accommodation processes, enabling real-time coordination, improved operational efficiency and enhanced crew experience as the airline expands its domestic and international network.
IndiGo Launches Chennai–Réunion Island Route
IndiGo announced the launch of thrice-weekly direct flights between Chennai and Réunion Island, effective 29 April 2026. The route will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft and marks IndiGo’s 46th international destination, further strengthening its network from Chennai and expanding connectivity to niche leisure markets.
