British Airways Operates One-Time Dublin Boeing 787-9 Service

British Airways operated a one-time four-class, 216-seat Boeing 787-9 service from London Heathrow to Dublin on Monday, 22 June, operating BAW830/1 and arriving at 14:21 before departing at 16:12 instead of Airbus A320ceo/neo aircraft. The service was operated by G-ZBKB, MSN 38617, leased from Dublin-based SMBC Aviation Capital, making the movement notable for both the widebody substitution on the Dublin sector and its leasing connection.

 

flydubai Takes Delivery of 69th Boeing 737 MAX via Shannon

Dubai-based low-cost carrier flydubai has taken delivery of Boeing 737 MAX A6-FPJ, MSN 60988, between 5 and 7 June 2026, routing from Boeing Field in Seattle via Shannon Airport before arriving at Dubai International Airport (DXB). The delivery marks flydubai’s 69th Boeing 737 MAX and highlights Shannon’s continued role as a routing point for aircraft delivery movements.

 

SAS Connect Expands Fleet with Additional A320neo

Dublin-based SAS Connect, a wholly owned subsidiary of the SAS Group, has expanded its fleet to 34 aircraft following the transfer of Airbus A320-251N SE-RZD, c/n 12110, named Disa Viking, from sister carrier SAS Airlines. The aircraft was transferred within the SAS Group and re-registered as EI-SCI on 29 May at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, with the update recording SAS Connect’s continued fleet expansion through an intra-group aircraft transfer.

Aloha Airlines Boeing 737-490(F) N442KH, c/n 28888, was delivered to Honolulu on 20 June 2026. The aircraft was previously registered as N888AU.

Mentes Ireland Leasing Airbus A321-231 OE-LAN, c/n 3112, was registered at Guangzhou on 28 June 2026. The aircraft was previously registered as B-6308.

European Markets Boost Air Capacity to Spain in June 

Spain will have almost 13.1 million seats on international flights in June, 7.1 per cent higher than the same month in 2025. The increase reflects stronger air connectivity at the start of the high season, supported by planned seat growth from key European markets including the UK and Italy. 

 

Europe’s Airlines Seek Stronger EU Support  

Europe’s airlines say they are losing ground to global rivals and need stronger support to address rising regulatory costs, improve sustainable aviation fuel affordability and strengthen crisis management. The comments come as the European Union seeks industry feedback on its new Aviation and Aeronautics Strategy. The update highlights cost pressure, sustainability requirements and operational resilience as key priorities for European carriers.

 

European Airports Face Pressure as Growth-Led Model Weakens 

ACI EUROPE has warned that Europe’s airports are facing a “Great Decoupling” as rising costs, stronger competitive pressures, changing traffic dynamics and major investment needs reshape the sector. The warning came during the 36th ACI EUROPE Annual Congress and General Assembly in Prague, where airports were described as facing greater risk and volatility from geopolitical shocks, macroeconomic uncertainty, structural aviation market shifts and sustainability pressures.

The facility marks a significant investment in the region and reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting continued growth within the business aviation community. 

 

MUFG Leads Viva Aerobus Debut JOLCO  

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group has arranged a Japanese Operating Lease with Call Option facility for Viva Aerobus, alongside Three i’s Capital. The transaction marks Viva Aerobus’ first JOLCO and Three i’s Capital’s first investment into an aircraft JOLCO. MUFG acted as sole Structuring Agent and Lender, while Three i’s Capital acted as Equity Underwriter. The facility supported the May 2026 delivery of an A321neo. 

 

Partners Group Invests in Avenue Capital Aviation Leasing Portfolio 

Partners Group has invested US$250 million as sole lead investor in a continuation vehicle established by Avenue Capital Group. The approximately US$360 million multi-asset vehicle will acquire a global commercial aviation leasing portfolio comprising 69 mid-life aviation projects across narrowbody aircraft, widebody aircraft and regional jets. The portfolio is underpinned by contracted cash flows and reflects continued investor interest in aircraft leasing amid structural undersupply of new aircraft. 

 

Safran Nacelles Delivers 5,000th Airbus A320neo Nacelle

Safran Nacelles has delivered its 5,000th nacelle for the Airbus A320neo programme, marking a production milestone for one of the world’s largest aviation programmes. The milestone was celebrated at the company’s Colomiers site near the A320 final assembly line in Toulouse. The delivery forms part of the A320neo programme’s production ramp-up, with Safran Nacelles contributing industrial performance and operational reliability to support rising output. 

 

SETNA Acquires Majority Stake in J&C Aero  

Setna iO has completed its acquisition of a majority stake in J&C Aero, a Vilnius-based cabin interior engineering company with certified design, production and maintenance capabilities. The acquisition adds EASA-certified interior design, production, maintenance and continuing airworthiness capabilities across commercial and government end markets. The transaction expands Setna’s MRO network and adds specialised cabin interior design, manufacturing and certification capabilities to its portfolio. 

 

Vietnam Airlines Targets VND 138.899 Trillion in Revenue 

Vietnam Airlines has approved its 2026 business plan, targeting consolidated revenue of VND 138.899 trillion, more than 12 per cent higher than 2025. The airline also targets carrying 27.73 million passengers and transporting 361,400 tonnes of cargo in 2026. The plan follows consolidated revenue of VND 123.858 trillion and profit after tax of VND 7.607 trillion in 2025. Vietnam Airlines is also progressing fleet renewal, plans to lease 20 narrow-body aircraft for the 2027–2028 period, and expects to begin operations of its first dedicated freighter in the third quarter of 2026. 

 

Airbus CEO Reaffirms A320 Successor Launch Timeline

Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said Airbus is preparing the successor to the A320, referred to as eAction, with a view to launching the programme in 2030. He said research and technology development, technology comparisons, pre-projects and simulations are underway, including work with partners on wings, fuselage, propulsion and industrial systems. The timeline remains unchanged, with entry into service planned for the second half of the next decade, highlighting the long lead times required for next-generation single-aisle aircraft development.

Joint Sales Process Launched for P1’s Aircraft and European Cargo Limited 

A joint sales process has been launched for P1’s aircraft and European Cargo Limited. Damien Murran and Julian Moroney of Teneo Restructuring Ireland were appointed Joint Provisional Liquidators of Priority 1 Leasing Limited and Priority 1 Leasing Holding Ireland Limited on 24 June 2026. Stuart Morris, Robert Fishman and David Soden of Teneo Financial Advisory Limited were appointed Joint Administrators of European Cargo Limited on 3 June 2026. 

 

Ryanair’s Boeing 737 MAX Supports Longer Nonstop Operations   

Ryanair’s Boeing 737 MAX is central to the airline’s modernisation strategy in 2026, supporting both its dense short-haul network and longer leisure routes across Europe. The aircraft enables Ryanair to operate with higher seating capacity, lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions compared with older 737 models. The update highlights the role of the MAX in supporting Ryanair’s ultra-low-cost operating model.   

 

Second Airbus H145 for Irish Garda Enters Flight Testing

The second Airbus H145 for An Garda Síochána is currently in flight testing at the Airbus plant in Donauwörth, Germany. The aircraft will follow the first H145, which is being fitted with role equipment by Airbus Helicopters UK Ltd at its Oxford Airport facility. The first aircraft is expected to take the Garda serial “287”, while the second will become “289” when handed over. The two H145 helicopters will replace two existing H135S, supporting the renewal of Garda Air Support Unit helicopter capability. 

 

Selective Travel Management Retains Irish Government Framework Tender 

WTC-owned Selective Travel Management has been re-awarded the travel contract for the Irish Government Framework following a tender exercise. The company is one of two agents re-appointed to the Irish framework and one of three appointed to the equivalent UK Government Commercial Agency contract.

UK Airspace Infringement Report Highlights Lessons for Irish Pilots 

The UK CAA’s latest CAP3277 report on airspace infringements reviewed more than 1,100 events in 2025 and found that many incidents were linked to lapses in planning, discipline and situational awareness rather than unfamiliarity with rules or airspace structure. Although the report is UK-focused, the findings are relevant to Irish general aviation, where similar human factors and operating risks apply. The report reinforces the importance of robust pre-flight planning, altitude awareness and disciplined decision-making near controlled airspace. 

 

Willie Walsh Calls for Long-Term Supply Chain Fix  

IATA Director General Willie Walsh said airlines absorbed at least US$11 billion in extra costs last year due to supply chain failures, many linked to engines. He said the industry needs to address wider supply chain problems, including CFM International Leap and Pratt & Whitney geared turbofan engine reliability issues, rather than continuing to “firefight” them. The comments highlight the operational pressure on airlines from engine turnaround times, aircraft availability and fleet planning uncertainty.

Wizz Air is compensating for Ryanair’s partial withdrawal from Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Ryanair said it will close its Berlin base from 24 October 2026, citing high operating costs and additional fee increases imposed by Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The airline also said it will further reduce its flight schedule in Germany due to persistently high operating costs. 

 

WSA Delivers Second Boeing 737-400SF to Skyway Airlines  

World Star Aviation has delivered the second of two Boeing 737-400SF aircraft to Skyway Airlines. The delivery follows the successful handover of the first aircraft and further strengthens the relationship between the two companies. The aircraft will support Philippine-based Skyway Airlines’ continued expansion across the Asia-Pacific region and reinforce its cargo capabilities.
