Emirates Deploys Airbus A350 Between Dubai And Dublin

Emirates has deployed its new Airbus A350 aircraft on flights between Dubai International and Dublin, operating evening service EK163/4 from 27 May to 12 June 2026. The first service was operated by Airbus A350-941 A6-EXO, c/n 750. The three-class A350 is configured with 32 Business Class seats, 28 Premium Economy seats and 238 Economy Class seats, adding Emirates’ latest-generation cabin product on the Dublin route.

 

Royal Jordanian Airbus A320 Positions To Ireland West Airport

Royal Jordanian Airbus A320-232 JY-AYW, named Irbid, was ferried from Amman Queen Alia International Airport to Ireland West Airport on 19 May. The aircraft operated as flight RJA017 and arrived at 1623 local time. The aircraft, c/n 05367, first flew in October 2012 as F-WWDU before delivery to Royal Jordanian in November 2012 as JY-AJW. The A320 entered service in a two-class 150-seat configuration.

N775BD Boeing 777-236 Ferried To San Bernardino

TVPX Trust Services Boeing 777-236 N775BD, c/n 27108, was ferried from Basle to San Bernardino via Shannon on 20/05/26. The long-haul widebody movement reflects ongoing aircraft transition activity, with Shannon used as a technical stop during repositioning to the United States for its next operational, storage or remarketing phase.

 

TF-FIK Boeing 757-256 Ferried To Mojave

Icelandair Boeing 757-256 TF-FIK, c/n 26254, was ferried to Mojave on 29/05/26 following return to lessor. The movement reflects continued fleet transition activity as older-generation narrowbody aircraft are repositioned for storage, onward remarketing or asset disposition.

easyJet Accelerates A319 Retirement Plan

easyJet is accelerating the retirement of its remaining 79 Airbus A319ceo aircraft, with the type now expected to leave the fleet by FY29, one year earlier than previously planned. The fleet includes 61 leased and 18 owned aircraft and represented 22 percent of easyJet’s 356-aircraft fleet at the end of March. 

 

IATA Launches World Maintenance And Engineering Symposium

IATA has launched the World Maintenance & Engineering Symposium, which will take place in Madrid on 24-25 June 2026 under the theme “Reviving the Supply Chain”. The event will focus on supply chain instability, engine maintenance bottlenecks and aircraft delivery delays, all of which continue to affect airline efficiency and operating costs. 

 

Norse Atlantic Reports Strong April Unit Revenue Growth

Norse Atlantic Airways reported own-network TRASK of 6.0 US cents per available seat kilometre in April, up 32 percent year-on-year, supported by higher average fares and route performance. The airline carried 116,000 passengers across scheduled, ACMI and charter operations, while load factor rose to 96 percent despite reduced capacity. 

 

Novus And SMTB Launch Ortus III Aircraft Leasing Fund

Novus Aviation Capital, in partnership with Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, has launched Ortus Aircraft Leasing Fund III, the third operating leasing fund in the Ortus series. The fund will focus on acquiring Airbus and Boeing aircraft placed on lease with global airlines, supporting demand for flexible aircraft financing. The launch reflects continued institutional interest in aircraft leasing, as airlines manage aircraft shortages, production backlogs and fleet growth requirements in a market projected to reach around US$320 billion by 2030.
 

oneworld Focuses On Premium Strategy At Heathrow

With Alaska Airlines arriving on 21 May 2026, London Heathrow will be served by 14 of oneworld’s 15 member airlines. Heathrow is one of three airports selected by Alaska Airlines for its European expansion from Seattle, adding to its role as a key node in the oneworld global route network.
 

Phoenix And AIP Capital Place Two 737 MAX 8s With 9 Air

Phoenix Aviation Capital, a full-service aircraft lessor managed by AIP Capital, has executed long-term lease agreements for two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with 9 Air. 9 Air is a leading low-cost carrier controlled by Juneyao Airlines. The first aircraft was delivered to 9 Air on 28 April 2026, with the second scheduled for delivery later this year.

 

Africa’s Travel Indaba 2026 Opens In Durban

President Cyril Ramaphosa opened Africa’s Travel Indaba 2026 in Durban, with tourism positioned as a driver of economic growth, job creation and continental integration. South Africa recorded 10.5 million international visitors in 2025, while the event brought together 999 buyers from 44 countries, 1,225 exhibitors and 18 airlines. The focus on intra-African travel, MICE tourism sustainability, SME participation and inclusive growth. 

 

Plus Ultra Signs ACMI Agreement With Tunisair

Plus Ultra Airlines has signed an agreement with Tunisair to support its medium and long-distance routes to Montreal and Paris. The agreement, under the ACMI wet lease modality, includes the incorporation of an Airbus A330 from the Spanish airline, based at Tunis-Carthage International Airport. The agreement reinforces Plus Ultra’s position as a long-haul flight operator under the ACMI model. 

 

Qantas Group Extends Capacity Reductions Until September

Qantas and Jetstar Airways have extended capacity reductions until 30 September 2026. Qantas Group will reduce planned international capacity by 2 percent, suspend the Sydney-Bengaluru route from August and extend Perth-Rome flights until the end of October. Domestic capacity on major routes will fall by 5 percent, with the adjustments linked to elevated fuel costs and strong European travel demand. 

 

RESIDCO Names David Kolber Chief Commercial Officer

Residual Based Finance Corporation has appointed David Kolber as Chief Commercial Officer, a newly created role reflecting the continued expansion of the firm’s commercial platform and the increasing scale of its rail and aviation businesses. RESIDCO President Michael Yovkovich said the company’s growth has increased the complexity and scale of commercial activity across its rail and aviation verticals.
 

Southwest Eyes Long-Haul International Expansion

Southwest Airlines is considering potential long-haul international flights within the next five years as part of its effort to offer products customers want. Chief Executive Bob Jordan said recent changes, including assigned seating and tiered fares, have been positively received by passengers. The airline reported an 11.2 percent year-on-year increase in first-quarter revenue per available seat mile.

The latest Shannon Airliner Update records aircraft movements, maintenance visitors, repaint activity and parked aircraft around Shannon Airport. The update includes World Star Aviation Boeing 737-4Q8(SF) 2-EIAZ departing to Nassau via Keflavik and Bangor, ASL Airlines Boeing 737-86N(PCF) EI-FNW arriving from Paris CDG, and 4Airways Boeing 737-4YO 9H-FIT rolling out in GP Aviation colours and re-registering as LZ-GPC. Atlantic Aviation Group activity included maintenance visits from RwandAir, easyJet, Maersk Air Cargo, DHL Aero Expreso, United, Cygnus Air, DHL Air Austria and BAe Systems, while IAC repaint work included Qatar Airways, CDB Aviation, Bulgaria Air and SAS aircraft. 

 

Skyborne Highlights Ryanair Future Flyer Academy

Skyborne Airline Academy, Ryanair’s UK training partner, is promoting the Ryanair Future Flyer Academy for aspiring pilots with little to no prior aviation experience. The programme offers three training paths to a conditional offer of employment before training begins, with Ryanair’s SOPs and operational philosophy integrated throughout Skyborne’s training. The Future Flyer Academy is expected to become the only pathway to join Ryanair as a low-hour cadet pilot, as the Dublin-headquartered airline targets hiring over 1,200 entry-level first officers in 2026 through its approved training partner network. 

 

CarTrawler Selected By Southwest Airlines For Car Rental Platform

CarTrawler has announced a new partnership with Southwest Airlines, the largest domestic airline in the United States. Southwest carried more than 134 million revenue passengers in 2025 and serves 122 destinations across the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. The airline has selected CarTrawler’s Connect Platform to power a modern car rental experience, replacing its previous in-house platform with a retail-led solution across Southwest’s digital channels. 

 

Aer Lingus Marks 90 Years Since First Flight

A restored Aer Lingus aircraft has landed in Bristol after taking off from Weston Airport in Dublin, recreating the airline’s first flight on the same route in 1936. The 1936 de Havilland Dragon followed the original Dublin-Bristol route to mark 90 years of flying with Aer Lingus.

Events are being held to mark the 40th anniversary of the official opening of Ireland West Airport Knock, with reflections on the airport’s development and its early challenges. ANCA Publishes 2025 Dublin Airport Noise Contours

ANCA has published the 2025 aircraft noise contours for Dublin Airport. The contours present annual average aircraft noise levels in a standardised European format for both night-time and full 24-hour periods. They also allow noise levels to be compared across a three-year period to examine how the noise climate changes over time and support targeted measures for reducing exposure to aircraft noise.

Titan Aviation Leasing, an Atlas Air Worldwide company, and Bain Capital have announced the sale of one Boeing 767-300ERF aircraft, MSN 33768, to Cargo Aircraft Management. The transaction reflects Titan’s strategy to actively manage and optimise its aircraft portfolio while supporting the evolving fleet requirements of cargo operators and leasing platforms worldwide.
 

Travel Counsellors Ireland Confirms 2027 Conference Dates

Travel Counsellors Ireland has confirmed that its 2027 annual conference will take place at Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 April 2027. More than 80 Travel Counsellors are expected to attend the two-day event. The conference will include keynote speakers, workshops and networking sessions, with business partners also invited to attend.
 

Tourism Ireland Joins Four-City China Sales Blitz

Tourism Ireland and seven Irish companies joined ETOA and VisitBritain for sales events across Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai. Around 180 Chinese travel professionals attended the workshops, which focused on expanding Ireland offerings for 2026 programmes. Participating partners included Birr Castle Demesne, Game of Thrones Studio Tour and Kildare Village, with the initiative aimed at increasing awareness and bookings from the Chinese market.

 

Enniskillen Aeropark Secures Planning For Hangar Homes

Enniskillen Aeropark has secured planning permission for ten Hangar Homes, including one unit that will serve as a clubhouse for owners and visiting pilots. The project is led by aviation property developer Peter Day and aims to bring a more affordable aviation living model to Northern Ireland. Each serviced plot will be priced at £150,000, with construction handled separately by approved contractor Metal Frame Structures Ltd.
