Aer Lingus Deploys A321LR on Ireland West Airport Rotation
Aer Lingus operated an Airbus A321LR on its Dublin–London Heathrow–Ireland West Airport rotation on 9 August, marking the type’s second appearance at Ireland West Airport. Airbus A321-253NX(LR) EI-LRF, msn 10264, named “St Gelasius”, operated the four-sector EIN156/915/916/161 rotation. The aircraft flew Dublin–London Heathrow–Ireland West–London Heathrow–Dublin, replacing the route’s scheduled 186-seat A320neo.
EasyJet Connects Belfast International with Aberdeen
EasyJet will launch a new winter service between Belfast International Airport and Aberdeen International Airport from 4 January 2027. The route will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays. Belfast International Airport said the new connection will support additional investment and job creation while improving direct connectivity for leisure travellers, students and businesses.
Ryanair Targets Major Growth in Shannon MRO Capability
Ryanair has submitted a planning application for a major expansion of its engineering operations at Shannon Airport, with plans to make it the airline’s largest aircraft maintenance facility in Ireland. The €50 million investment includes a new four-bay Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul hangar, expanding Ryanair’s existing maintenance and engineering operations at Shannon. Subject to planning approval, construction is expected to begin in early 2027, with the new facility scheduled to become operational in late 2028.

Royal Canadian Air Force Airbus A310-304 15002 operated through Dublin on 13 August as CFC3214. The movement was recorded as a military transport operation.
A6-EXL Airbus A350-941 Operates Dubai–Dublin Service
Emirates Airbus A350-941 A6-EXL operated the Dubai–Dublin service on 13 August as UAE9JQ/78P. The movement formed part of the airline’s scheduled A350 operation at Dublin.

ASL Airlines Australia to Add Four Aircraft as Regional Expansion Continues
ASL Aviation Holdings will add four aircraft to the ASL Airlines Australia fleet as the carrier expands across Australia and New Zealand. The growth builds on its Boeing 737-800BCF operations and recent launch of services at Western Sydney International Airport. The additional aircraft will strengthen its existing freighter network and provide further capacity for regional expansion.
TrueNoord Leases Embraer E195LR to Air Montenegro
TrueNoord has delivered an Embraer E195LR, MSN 19000471, to Air Montenegro under a five-year operating lease. The aircraft was delivered in late July and has entered service on intra-European routes from the airline’s Podgorica base. The lease supports Air Montenegro’s continued fleet and network expansion.
Cape Verde Approves US$5.25 Million Guarantee for TACV Boeing 737-8 Lease
The Cape Verde government has approved a US$5.25 million sovereign guarantee covering TACV’s obligations under the operating lease of a Boeing 737-8. The aircraft is leased from Altitude II Aircraft Seven DAC and has operated with TACV since July 2023. It supports services from Cape Verde to Lisbon, Paris, Providence and Recife.
Boeing Completes 787 Short-Inlet Noise Test Flights
Boeing has completed flight testing of a 787 fitted with a modified short engine inlet duct as part of its latest ecoDemonstrator technology programme. The flight campaign concluded at the end of July, and Boeing is now assessing the noise data gathered during the tests.
Philippine Airlines Reports US$25.1 Million First-Half Loss
Philippine Airlines reported a net loss of US$25.1 million for the first half of 2026, compared with a US$136.7 million profit in the same period last year. Sharply higher fuel costs outweighed steady revenue growth during the period.
EVA Air to Purchase Five LEAP-1A Spare Engines
EVA Air has approved the purchase of five LEAP-1A30S spare engines from CFM International for up to US$131 million. The transaction was approved by the airline’s board on 13 August 2026. The engines will provide additional spare capacity to support EVA Air’s LEAP-1A-powered fleet.
Etihad Airways Announces Seasonal Abu Dhabi–Gothenburg Service
Etihad Airways will launch a seasonal service between Abu Dhabi and Gothenburg from 17 December 2026. Flights will operate four times weekly until 21 March 2027. The route will provide Gothenburg with its first direct air link to the Middle East and Asia, while offering onward connections through Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub to destinations across India and Asia.
GAO Identifies Gaps in Online FBO Fee Transparency
A US Government Accountability Office report has found that business and general aviation operators can generally access accurate fuel prices online, while information on FBO fees is considerably less reliable. The findings highlight differences in the transparency of online pricing information available to operators.

Les Cronin, Vice President of MTU Aero Engine North America, will take part in Cargo Facts Symposium 2026 on 22 October. He will join a panel examining sourcing and procurement challenges affecting freighters and engines.
Business Travel Spending Reaches Record Levels as Trip Growth Remains Limited
Global business travel spending is forecast to reach US$1.71 trillion in 2026, an increase of 7.2 percent, according to the Global Business Travel Association. However, the number of business trips is expected to rise by only 1.3 percent to around 1.84 billion. The gap suggests that much of the increase in spending is being driven by higher prices, longer journeys, disrupted networks and greater value concentrated in each trip rather than a major increase in corporate travel volumes.

It also plans to expand ACMI partnerships to improve year-round aircraft utilisation, while its revised business plan targets revenue of 1 billion euros by 2031.
Condor Outlines Münster Network Expansion for NS27
Condor plans to launch four new routes from Münster/Osnabrück for the Northern Summer 2027 season, serving Chania, Fuerteventura, Irakleion and Rhodes with Airbus A320neo aircraft. Frequencies will range from one to three weekly services depending on the route and period. Services introduced during Winter 2026/27 to Gran Canaria, Hurghada and Tenerife South will also continue into Summer 2027.
Norwich–Malaga Route Supported by Local Demand Analysis
A catchment analysis indicates strong local demand for a nonstop Norwich–Malaga service. Malaga remains one of the UK’s most popular overseas leisure destinations, while Norwich currently has no direct link despite demand within its surrounding catchment area.
Shorts C-23C Sherpa Makes Homecoming to Belfast City Airport
Belfast-built Shorts C-23C Sherpa C-GSHP, c/n SH3402, formerly SH3695, routed through Belfast City Airport on 26–27 July following its appearance at the Farnborough International Airshow. Operating under the callsign “De Havilland 3402”, the aircraft, named “Pack Rat” and operated by Longview Aviation Leasing, continued from Belfast across the North Atlantic to Keflavik, Iceland.
