Emirates A350 In New UAE Flag Livery Visits Dublin

Emirates Airbus A350-900 A6-EXR, MSN 760, made its first visit to Dublin on 2 July while operating flights EK163/164 to and from Dubai International Airport. The visit marked the Irish capital’s debut for the aircraft type in Emirates’ new UAE Flag livery. The livery had previously been introduced on Airbus A380-800 A6-EVG and Boeing 777-31H(ER) A6-EQH as part of Emirates’ “This Flag Will Always Fly” campaign.

 

Former Nok Air Boeing 737-800 Arrives At Ireland West Airport

A former Nok Air Boeing 737-800, registered VP-CMW, has arrived at Ireland West Airport and entered storage following a multi-sector ferry flight from Southeast Asia. The aircraft is a Boeing 737-86N, c/n 43421, and was previously operated by Thailand’s Nok Air as HS-DBS. It arrived in basic white colours after being stripped of airline titles and branding, routing from Jakarta via Muscat and Cairo before arriving at Ireland West Airport on Wednesday, 8 July.

 

PSA Airlines Expands Fleet With Ex-CityJet CRJ900s

PSA Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group operating under the American Eagle brand, has expanded its regional fleet with two former CityJet Mitsubishi CRJ900LR aircraft. According to Skyliner Aviation, CRJ900LR EI-FPP, msn 15439, was ferried from Valencia to Dayton International Airport between 14 and 15 June 2026 via Keflavik and Goose Bay. The aircraft is set to be re-registered as N642NN.

ACI Europe Calls for Urgent Flexibility on Schengen EES Rollout 

ACI Europe has published an open letter to the President of the European Commission on the Schengen Entry/Exit System. The letter recognises the role of EES in strengthening the security of the European Union’s external borders. It also notes that Europe’s airports and airlines have supported its deployment through significant investment, operational adaptations and the mobilisation of financial and human resources. 

 

Airbus Forecasts Long-Term Traffic Growth Driven by Urbanisation and Connectivity 

Airbus’ 2026–2045 Global Market Forecast says urbanisation and GDP growth will continue to support long-term air travel demand. The forecast highlights growth in smaller urban centres, rising middle-class travel and new city pairings made viable by more efficient aircraft. Airbus cites examples including Riga-Tenerife with the A220, Dublin-Nashville with the A321XLR and Taipei-Phoenix with the A350, reflecting how aircraft range and efficiency are reshaping network planning. 

 

Aircalin Secures Financing for First Airbus A350-900 

Aircalin has finalised financing for its first Airbus A350-900, supporting the airline’s long-haul fleet renewal programme. The package includes bank loans, Aircalin equity and €70.1 million in French government tax incentives, with BPCE-Natixis CIB leading the banking consortium. The aircraft is scheduled for delivery in December 2026, with a second A350-900 due in mid-2028, adding capacity, range and improved fuel efficiency to Aircalin’s long-haul operations.  

 

AirAsia Completes Transition to AirAsia Group Berhad 

AirAsia has changed its corporate name from AirAsia X Berhad to AirAsia Group Berhad, following shareholder approval on 25 June and registration by the Companies Commission of Malaysia on 2 July. The change supports the consolidation of its airlines into a single group structure. AirAsia said the transition is intended to improve network connectivity, operational efficiency and long-term growth across Asia and other international markets. 

 

Air Premia Approves Capital Increase to Restore Financial Stability 

South Korean hybrid carrier Air Premia has approved a shareholder rights offering aimed at eliminating its capital impairment and strengthening its financial position. The capital increase follows a board decision on 8 July and will be supported by majority shareholder Tire Bank, which is expected to invest more than KRW 100 billion. The fundraising is intended to comply with a 2024 directive from South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport requiring the airline to improve its capital structure after its capital impairment ratio remained above regulatory thresholds. 

 

Apollo Reaches Agreement in Principle on Possible £5.7 Billion easyJet Acquisition 

Apollo Global Management has reached an agreement in principle with easyJet’s board on a possible cash acquisition valuing the airline at approximately £5.7 billion. The proposal offers shareholders £7.15 per share, above a competing £6.90-per-share proposal from Castlelake. The transaction would be funded through Apollo-managed equity and debt financing, with the easyJet board prepared to recommend the offer subject to final terms, regulatory approvals and definitive documentation. 

 

Avflight Opens New FBO Facility at Traverse City 

Avflight has opened a new FBO facility at Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City, marking a continued investment in local aviation infrastructure. The facility includes a lounge for pilots, flight attendants and student pilots, strengthening support services at the airport. Avflight has operated at Cherry Capital Airport since 2014, expanding from fuel contracting into services including private aircraft hangar support, ground service equipment and aircraft preparation assistance. 

 

Alaska Airlines Targets Larger US International Carrier Role 

Alaska Airlines is undertaking an expansion plan to add more international flights, increase its fleet by dozens of aircraft and grow its premium lounge network over the next few years. The Seattle-based carrier is positioning this growth as part of its ambition to become one of the largest airlines in the United States. The plan highlights the airline’s focus on broader network reach, added fleet scale and enhanced premium travel infrastructure. 

 

Binter Hosts European Regional Airlines in Gran Canaria  

Canary Islands-based airline Binter hosted the European Regions Airline Association’s quarterly board meeting in the Canary Islands, held between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and La Gomera. The meeting brought 25 board members to the Hotel Santa Catalina, Royal Hideaway. The update highlights Binter’s role as host for a key European regional airline industry meeting. 

 

BOC Aviation Places Five Airbus A321neo Aircraft with AJet 

BOC Aviation has signed a lease agreement with AJet for five Airbus A321neo aircraft, sourced from its existing orderbook. The aircraft will be powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines and are scheduled for delivery in 2028. The placement supports AJet’s fleet renewal and planned network growth across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. 

 

British Airways Marks 80 Years of US Services with Lounge Investment 

British Airways is celebrating 80 years of transatlantic service this July, with its first London-New York route forming the foundation for its current US network. The airline will operate over 20,500 flights to and from the US this summer season and continues to offer more US flights than any other European carrier. British Airways has also announced significant lounge investment across the US, including redevelopment at Newark Liberty International Airport, planned enhancements in Boston and San Francisco, and wider upgrades across its global network. 

 

Emirates to Introduce A380 Services to Delhi from October 

Emirates will introduce its flagship Airbus A380 to Delhi from 25 October, making the Indian capital the airline’s third gateway in the country to be served by the double-decker aircraft. The A380 will operate on flights EK512/513 in a four-class configuration. The deployment will complement Emirates’ retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft, also operating in a four-class layout with Premium Economy across its three other daily Delhi flights.

AerCap Places Three Boeing 777-300ERSF Converted Freighters with China Southern Air Logistics 

AerCap has signed lease agreements with China Southern Air Logistics for three Boeing 777-300ERSF converted freighters. The aircraft will expand the cargo carrier’s long-haul fleet through the passenger-to-freighter conversion of the Boeing 777-300ER. Deliveries are scheduled between October 2027 and the second quarter of 2028, supporting China Southern Air Logistics’ future widebody cargo capacity planning.  

 

Aer Lingus Regional Reaches 31 Routes in July 2026   

Emerald Airlines operates for Aer Lingus under the Aer Lingus Regional banner. The carrier commenced operations in February 2022 after the cessation of Stobart Air in 2021. Its first route was the PSO-operated Dublin to Donegal service, reflecting the role of Aer Lingus Regional in supporting regional air connectivity. 

 

AIB Capital Markets Supports SMBC Aviation Capital Financing Facility 

AIB Capital Markets has supported SMBC Aviation Capital as part of its US$3.7 billion syndicated finance facility. The support relates to a US$1.7 billion upsize of SMBC Aviation Capital’s US$2 billion syndicated term loan facility. The funding will support SMBC Aviation Capital’s business development and strategic investments, including its recent investment in Sumisho Air Lease. 

 

Dáil Update Provided on City of Derry-Dublin PSO Route  

Deputy Louis O’Hara asked the Minister for Transport for an update on the reinstatement of the Derry to Dublin airlink. The question also sought details on the tendering process for establishing a Public Service Obligation air service between City of Derry and Dublin, including the expected operational timeline. The debate reflects continued policy attention on regional air connectivity between the two cities. 

 

Aviation Capital Group Closes US$1.48 Billion Unsecured Facility 

Aviation Capital Group has signed a US$1.48 billion unsecured term loan facility through its wholly owned subsidiary, ACG Aircraft Financing Ireland DAC, as borrower. The facility is guaranteed by ACG, syndicated to 33 lenders across multiple countries and matures in July 2031. Amounts available under the facility must be drawn by January 2027, with no amounts drawn to date. 

 

Bray Air Display Returns on 1 August 2026 

Bray Air Display will return on Saturday, 1 August 2026, marking its 19th year as one of Ireland’s major free family aviation events. The 2026 programme includes vintage aircraft, aerobatic acts, solo pilots and a 15-act flight line-up, with the main air display scheduled for 3 pm. The event also includes the Future of Flight Tech Zone, highlighting drone technology and aviation innovation, while supporting Bray’s wider tourism and local economic activity. 

 

Club Travel Completes Acquisition of Maureen Delmar Travel 

Club Travel has completed the acquisition of Maureen Delmar Travel, bringing together corporate and leisure travel expertise. Maureen Delmar will continue as managing director under her existing brand, with operations proceeding as usual for current customers. Clients will gain access to wider supplier relationships and technology as the business is integrated into the Club Travel group. 

 

Come Fly With Me Exhibition Explores Aviation, Tourism and Irish Design 

Come Fly With Me: Aviation, tourism and Irish design will run at the National Print Museum in Dublin from 17 July to 17 December 2026. The exhibition examines Irish cultural history through aviation- and tourism-related graphic design from the 1940s to the 1960s, including Aer Lingus-linked advertising work. It highlights how aviation, print design and tourism promotion helped shape Ireland’s international identity and wider economic development. 

 

Dublin Airport Passenger Capacity Bill Advances Through Dáil Stages  

Dáil Éireann considered an amendment to the Dublin Airport Passenger Capacity Bill 2026 seeking to define “international connectivity”. The proposed wording referred to the range and frequency of scheduled passenger and cargo air services operating to and from Dublin Airport. The debate focused on how international connectivity is used in the Bill as a justification for lifting the airport capacity cap. 

 

Michael O’Leary Remains Europe’s Longest-Serving Airline CEO   

Michael O’Leary is Europe’s longest-serving airline CEO, even before his contract extension to 2032. József Váradi ranks second in Europe, while worldwide only Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum of Emirates has had a longer tenure among major airlines. During O’Leary’s tenure at Ryanair, Aer Lingus has had 15 CEOs or acting CEOs, highlighting the contrast in leadership continuity across major airline groups.
