Air India Adds 78 Extra Flights Amid West Asia Disruption
Air India has announced plans to operate 78 additional flights between 10 and 18 March 2026 to destinations across Europe, the United States and the Indian Ocean region. The temporary increase in capacity comes as airlines respond to heightened passenger demand following ongoing disruptions to air travel across West Asia. The additional services are intended to support travellers affected by rerouted flights and schedule adjustments while helping maintain connectivity across key international routes.
Airfares Face Surge of 30–80% from Middle East Conflict
Airfares could increase by between 30% and 80% as escalating tensions in the Middle East involving the United States, Israel and Iran continue to disrupt global aviation operations. Jet fuel prices have surged by more than 80%, reaching around $3.88 per gallon and approximately $1,528 per tonne, with some regions reporting weekly increases of up to 50%. Airlines are being forced to reroute flights to avoid unsafe airspace, adding additional flight time and fuel consumption, while many carriers may face further cost pressures as fuel hedging protections begin to lapse ahead of the busy summer travel season.
