ASL Airlines Ireland Builds A330 Freighter Partnership with Saudia Cargo
ASL Airlines Ireland and Saudia Cargo have continued to expand their A330 freighter partnership, with two Airbus A330-300 freighters each operating approximately 360 block hours per month between Saudi Arabia and Europe. The utilisation level meets the programme’s 2024 operational target. Discussions during a recent management visit to Jeddah reviewed operational performance, progress since the programme’s launch and future network opportunities.
ASL Aviation Holdings Expands Boeing 737-800BCF Fleet
ASL Airlines France took delivery of its ninth Boeing 737-800BCF, F-HIQJ, c/n 33719, on 6 August. The aircraft was originally delivered to Ryanair as EI-DAM in April 2003 and later underwent passenger-to-freighter conversion in Jinan. After operating with AirExplore as OM-EDA and being returned to lessor BBAM in December 2025, it was registered to ASL Aviation Holdings in July 2026.

Spring Airlines Airbus A320-251N B-32T0, c/n 13473, was delivered from Tianjin to Shanghai on 14 August. The movement marked the delivery of the new aircraft to the operator.
Cathay Pacific Airbus A321-251NX B-HQD Delivered to Hong Kong
Cathay Pacific Airbus A321-251NX B-HQD, c/n 13180, ex D-AYAO, was delivered from Hamburg to Hong Kong via Astana between 15 and 16 August. The movement marked the delivery of the new aircraft to the operator.

Loganair Discontinues Three Routes in Second Half of 2026
Loganair will discontinue three routes between August and October 2026, including its exit from the Dundee market. The airline will end its 11-times-weekly London Heathrow–Dundee ATR 42 service on 23 October, while Manchester–Exeter will cease on 18 August and Manchester–Southampton on 20 August. The two Manchester routes are operated with Embraer ERJ145 aircraft, at four and 15 weekly frequencies respectively.
Delta Cargo Adds Capacity to CargoAi Digital Booking Platform
Delta Cargo has integrated its capacity and pricing with CargoAi, giving freight forwarders access through the CargoAi marketplace and direct connections to major transport management systems. The initial rollout covers 15 markets, including Ireland and the UK, with access to general cargo, express products and lithium battery shipments. The integration also supports allotment bookings, Built-Up Pallets and digital interline bookings with airline partners.
Norse Atlantic Strategic Review Attracts Strong International Interest
Norse Atlantic Airways has reported strong interest in its strategic review, which could result in a sale, merger or strategic partnership. The airline launched a formal sale process last month and, in its second-quarter 2026 results, reported revenues of 132 million US dollars alongside a loss before interest and taxes of 8.4 million US dollars. Chief Executive Eivind Roald said the quarter demonstrated the carrier’s ability to adapt as an Airline on Demand in a challenging industry environment.
LATAM Cargo’s Genskowsky Joins Cargo Facts Symposium 2026
Gudny Genskowsky, Senior Vice President of Network and Alliances at LATAM Cargo, will join the Cargo Facts Symposium 2026 panel on “Technical aspects of freighter conversion and fleet management” on 22 October 2026. The discussion will also feature representatives from Amazon Air and Challenge Group, covering topics including the challenges of keeping conversion programmes and heavy maintenance events on schedule. The 32nd annual symposium will take place from 21 to 23 October in Nashville.
Chinese Companies Dominate Shortlist for Ethiopia’s US$12.5 Billion Bishoftu Airport Project
Chinese companies and joint ventures make up the majority of shortlisted bidders for Ethiopia’s 12.5 billion US dollar Bishoftu International Airport project. The shortlist includes 12 Chinese companies and joint ventures competing across four main works packages. Ethiopian Airlines has delayed contractor selection until January 2027, while the US is seeking participation linked to Boeing aircraft orders.
Riyadh Air Joins Unified Government Travel Framework
Riyadh Air has joined Saudi Arabia’s Unified Framework Agreement for Government ERCAB following a framework agreement with the Government Expenditure and Projects Efficiency Authority. The agreement, developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the National Center for Government Resource Systems, will enable Riyadh Air’s services to be activated within the government travel framework and expand travel options available to government entities.
Air New Zealand’s New Board Appointments Include Air India CEO
Air New Zealand has appointed Air India CEO Campbell Wilson and former Air New Zealand CFO Rob McDonald to its board, subject to election at the airline’s annual shareholders meeting on 24 September. Director Larry De Shon will retire from the board at the same meeting. Wilson, who announced in April that he would leave Air India later this year, previously served as CEO of Scoot and held senior leadership roles at Singapore Airlines.
TUI fly Netherlands to Expand with Boeing 737 MAX 10 Fleet in Summer 2027
TUI fly Netherlands plans to replace all six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in its Dutch operation with the larger Boeing 737 MAX 10 and add a seventh aircraft. The airline expects to introduce the type in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory certification. The additional capacity will support more direct services and higher seat availability, including increased flying to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao from April 2027.
Air China Begins SAF Uplift Under Beijing Closed-Loop Model
Air China has completed its first sustainable aviation fuel uplift under the “Changping Model,” a full-chain closed-loop system designed to produce, supply and account for SAF within Beijing’s Changping district. Under the model, waste cooking oil collected from restaurants in Changping is used as feedstock for SAF production.
HAECO, CALC Plan Hong Kong Engine Support Platform
HAECO and China Aircraft Leasing Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop an engine lifecycle support platform in Hong Kong. The agreement establishes a framework for the two companies to expand cooperation in high value-added aviation services while supporting Hong Kong’s development as an international aviation hub.

Shannon and Dublin Airports Shortlisted for Routes World Awards
Shannon Airport has been shortlisted in the Under 5 Million Passengers category at the Routes World Awards 2026, while Dublin Airport is a finalist in the Over 30 Million category. Shannon currently operates 40 routes, its highest number in 17 years, with new services to Madrid, Rome, Frankfurt, Warsaw and Poznan added for 2026. The winners will be announced in Frankfurt on 22 October 2026.
Airbus Expands A220 Wing Production Facility in Belfast
Airbus has started construction on a 6,221 square metre extension to its Belfast wing manufacturing facility. The multi-million-pound project includes a third autoclave and specialised tooling to support an increase in A220 production to 13 aircraft per month by 2028. Belfast remains the exclusive producer of A220 wings using composite technology, with the expansion also securing jobs and creating 40 new apprenticeships.
Ryanair Launches £29.99 Rescue Fares as easyJet Cuts Leeds Bradford Schedule
Ryanair has launched rescue fares from £29.99 for passengers affected by easyJet’s cancellation of its full Leeds Bradford schedule from 5 January 2027. The fares apply to Ryanair’s Leeds Bradford–Malaga route, where the airline operates 10 weekly flights. The £29.99 fares are available to book until the end of February through Ryanair’s app and website.
Belfast City Airport and Translink Partner to Explore Enhanced Rail Connection
Belfast City Airport and Translink have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on the development and appraisal of options to improve connectivity between Translink’s network and the airport. The partnership will examine a range of measures aimed at improving passenger experience, safety and accessibility for users of both Belfast City Airport and Translink services.
IAA Urges Passenger Rights Awareness Ahead of Autumn Travel
The Irish Aviation Authority has launched an awareness campaign to improve understanding of EU air passenger protections as thousands of Irish travellers prepare to fly this autumn. Passengers delayed by more than three hours may be entitled to meals, refreshments and accommodation, while cancellations can provide rights to re-routing or a refund and, in some cases, compensation. Passengers affected by overbooking may also be entitled to compensation and assistance.
Aer Lingus Extends 10kg Carry-On Baggage Policy Across Regional Flights
Aer Lingus will extend its 10kg carry-on baggage policy across all Aer Lingus Regional flights operated by Emerald Airlines from 3 March 2026. Every fare type will include a 10kg bag as standard, which can either be checked in free of charge or carried on board for a fee. The policy will apply across domestic services within Ireland and the UK, Ireland–UK routes and European flights.
BOC Aviation Posts Higher First-Half Profit
BOC Aviation reported net profit after tax of 357 million US dollars for the first half of 2026, representing an increase of 4 percent year on year. Total revenues and other income rose 4 percent to 1.3 billion US dollars, while the lessor invested 2.3 billion US dollars during the six-month period. Total assets increased 6 percent to 27.8 billion US dollars, with total equity reaching 7.0 billion US dollars.
