Aer Lingus Maximises A321neo Long-Haul Fleet Utilisation

Aer Lingus is maximising utilisation of its Airbus A321neo long-haul fleet this summer by deploying its 184-seat, two-class Airbus A321LR and Airbus A321XLR aircraft on selected European services from Dublin between North American rotations. The strategy supports aircraft productivity while adding capacity on intra-European routes, replacing Airbus A320ceo and A320neo aircraft on selected services. Scheduled A321LR/XLR services include Amsterdam, Brussels, London Heathrow, Munich and Paris Charles de Gaulle, alongside flights to Bordeaux and Oslo.

 

Airline Flight Academy Celebrates Major Milestone

Dublin-based Airline Flight Academy has announced a major milestone in its partnership with Ryanair, having trained more than 1,000 Ryanair Future Flyer Academy cadets in just five years. AFA Commercial Manager Kilian Hanratty said the achievement was made possible by expert instructors, strong training standards and close partnerships. He added that AFA remains central to Ryanair’s expansion as pilot demand continues to grow, supported by the airline’s fleet of more than 600 aircraft in service and 300 more on the way.

 

FLY4 Airlines Launches Operations From Belfast International

FLY4 Airlines has expanded its operational footprint with the launch of its first services from Belfast International Airport, marking its first base on the island of Ireland. Boeing 737-8K5 EI-FFC, c/n 37251, positioned from Istanbul to Belfast International on 4 May using callsign FFA886P. The inaugural flights departed Belfast International on 8 May, operating on behalf of TUI to Reus as TOM1508/9 and Corfu as TOM1526/7.

Swiftair Airbus A321-231(F) OE-ILA, c/n 2653, was delivered to Madrid on 10 June 2026. The update records the aircraft’s delivery to Madrid under Swiftair.

Air Canada Begins Airbus A321XLR Scheduled Service

Air Canada has marked the entry into scheduled service of its first Airbus A321XLR, with 182 passengers onboard flight AC413 from Montréal to Toronto. The airline said the aircraft marks a new chapter for its fleet and customer offering. Air Canada Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Mark Galardo said the A321XLR will unlock new destinations, improve service on existing markets and offer lie-flat seats on a single-aisle aircraft for premium customers on transatlantic and North American routes.

 

Airbus CEO Reluctant to Create New Products in Short Term

Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said engineers and executives should focus on delivering aircraft from the airframer’s existing backlog to customers rather than developing ideas for new airliners. Speaking in Berlin on 9 June, Faury indicated that the company’s short-term priority remains aircraft delivery and backlog execution.

 

Air Nostrum Evaluates Fleet Renewal as Iberia Network Role Expands

Spanish regional carrier Air Nostrum is reviewing the future of its fleet as it takes on a growing role within the Iberia network. The airline is considering whether to extend the life of its 31 Bombardier CRJ1000 regional jets through major maintenance programmes or begin a transition to a new generation of aircraft. No final decision has been made, and any fleet replacement would be a long-term project due to aircraft manufacturers’ delivery backlogs.

 

Alaska Airlines Advances Global Expansion With New European Routes

Alaska Airlines has launched daily nonstop service between Seattle and London Heathrow, strengthening its international network. The year-round service marks the airline’s second European destination introduced this year, following the launch of its first transatlantic route to Rome last month. Alaska Airlines is also set to begin nonstop service to Reykjavík, Iceland, on 28 May.

 

American Airlines and Google Sign Record SAF Agreement

American Airlines and Google have announced the largest publicly disclosed sustainable aviation fuel certificate agreement between an airline and a single corporate customer to date. The deal will support the use of 35 million gallons, or 132 million litres, of sustainable aviation fuel over three years, delivering nearly 300,000 tonnes of CO2e emissions reductions. American Airlines will purchase and receive physical SAF at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, while Google will receive the associated environmental attributes through the SAFc Registry.

 

ATR Calls for Decisive EU Action on Regional Aviation

ATR has called for coordinated European action on regional aviation during a European Parliament event held on 9 June 2026. The company said regional aviation has a central role in supporting territorial cohesion, climate ambitions and industrial sovereignty across Europe. ATR highlighted four priorities for Europe’s aviation future, including safeguarding regional connectivity, supporting low-carbon aircraft development, accelerating SAF uptake and aligning investment with areas that deliver the greatest decarbonisation impact.

 

Avianca Cargo Launches A330F Operations in Bolivia

Avianca Cargo has launched a weekly Airbus A330-200F route connecting the United States and Colombia with Bolivia. The new Friday service carries general cargo, mining and auto parts, pharmaceutical, e-commerce and courier cargo.

 

Aviation Capital Group Extends $3.1 Billion Revolving Credit Facility

Aviation Capital Group has completed the amendment and restatement of its $3.1 billion senior unsecured revolving credit facility, with JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. acting as administrative agent. The final maturity date of the facility has been extended from June 2028 to June 2030. ACG said commitments under the facility are provided by 24 financial institutions, and the company currently has approximately $5.1 billion of total revolving commitments.

 

easyJet Takes Delivery of 100th Airbus NEO Aircraft

easyJet has taken delivery of its 100th Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, marking a major fleet milestone as it continues its modernisation strategy. The aircraft joins a fleet of 359 Airbus aircraft, with NEO models now accounting for more than a quarter of the total fleet. The A320neo Family offers up to 20 percent lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per seat, along with a 50 percent reduction in noise compared with previous-generation aircraft.

 

Wizz Air Sees Recovery Momentum as Growth Accelerates

Wizz Air is positioning itself for a stronger growth phase after two years of disruption linked to Pratt & Whitney GTF engine inspections. Speaking during the airline’s FY2026 earnings call, CEO József Váradi said Wizz Air carried 70 million passengers during the year, up 10 percent year-on-year, while EBITDA increased 16 percent. The airline ended the fiscal year with more than €2 billion in cash and improved leverage metrics, despite continuing operational challenges linked to grounded aircraft.

Azorra has completed the acquisition of 12 Airbus A220-300 aircraft from EgyptAir, with the twelfth and final aircraft delivered to Breeze Airways. The aircraft were purchased in February 2024 to support EgyptAir’s fleet transformation programme. Azorra CEO John Evans said the transaction highlights the company’s ability to create solutions that deliver value across the aviation ecosystem, while helping address spare engine and parts availability challenges.

 

Irish Air Corps Learjet 45 Withdrawn From Service

The Irish Air Corps’ sole Learjet 45, serial 258, has been officially withdrawn from the Air Corps fleet after more than two decades in service. Delivered in December 2003 and entering service in early 2004, the aircraft formed a core part of the Ministerial Air Transport Service fleet. It operated alongside Gulfstream IV, serial 251, which remained in service until 2014.

 

Minister O’Brien Sets Route to Address Dublin Airport Passenger Cap

Minister for Transport Darragh O’Brien has secured Government approval to publish the Dublin Airport Passenger Capacity Bill 2026 and progress it to enactment as soon as possible. The Bill will provide the Minister with the power to address the 32 million passenger cap at Dublin Airport.

 

Ryanair Warns of Charleroi Aircraft Cuts if Belgium Doubles Flight Tax

Ryanair has reiterated plans to reduce its presence in Belgium if the federal government proceeds with an increase in the country’s aviation tax. Speaking during a press visit to the airline’s headquarters in Dublin, CEO Michael O’Leary said Ryanair intends to remove five aircraft from Brussels South Charleroi Airport from the start of the winter season if the tax increase is implemented.
