ASL Aviation Holdings Boosts ASL Airlines, Australia Fleet
Dublin-based ASL Aviation Holdings will add four Boeing 737-800BCF aircraft to the ASL Airlines Australia fleet, expanding its operational capability across Australia and New Zealand. Some aircraft will transfer from ASL’s existing European fleet to the Australian AOC, with the first expected to arrive in Australia soon. The additional freighters will strengthen ASL’s existing network and provide further capacity for regional growth.
EirTrade Aviation Announces Acquisition of A330 Airframe
EirTrade Aviation has acquired an Airbus A330 airframe previously operated by Air Transat. The aircraft will be inducted for immediate disassembly at the company’s facility at Ireland West Airport Knock. EirTrade recently also secured new authorisations from Guernsey, the Cayman Islands and Bermuda for operations, transitions, parking and storage at the Knock facility.
Air Transat Operates One-Time Toronto–Dublin A321ceo Service
Air Transat operated a one-time Airbus A321ceo on its Toronto–Dublin service on 14 August in place of the scheduled Airbus A321LR. Airbus A321-211 C-GEZJ, MSN 4148, operated TSC230/231, arriving in Dublin at 1:46 PM and departing at 4:06 PM. The eastbound sector routed via Goose Bay, while the westbound sector operated via Keflavik.
United Deploys Boeing 777-300ER on Newark–Dublin to Meet Demand
United Airlines has deployed its four-class, 350-seat Boeing 777-300ER on one of its two daily Newark–Dublin services, replacing the 276-seat Boeing 777-200ER. The substitution adds 74 seats per sector, representing a 27 percent capacity increase. Boeing 777-300ERs N2639U, MSN 62650, and N2332U, MSN 62643, operated the service on 25 July and 15 August, respectively.

Willis Lease Finance Acquires 12 Commercial Aircraft and 13 Engines
Willis Lease Finance Corporation has acquired 12 commercial aircraft and 13 aircraft engines, expanding its aviation asset portfolio. The additional assets will be deployed across the company’s leasing, asset management, technical and aftermarket operations. WLFC said its global platform will enable the assets to be managed and placed across multiple channels to maximise utilisation and value over their operating lifecycles.
Saudia Group Lines Up Financing for New Airbus Aircraft
Saudia Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Saudi EXIM and Crédit Agricole CIB to explore and arrange financing for the acquisition of new Airbus aircraft. Crédit Agricole CIB will act as financier and arranger, structuring financing in line with expected aircraft delivery schedules. Saudi EXIM will assess the provision of credit-risk insurance, subject to its credit, insurance and procedural requirements.
Three South Korean Budget Airlines to Merge by March 2027
Jin Air, Air Busan and Air Seoul have agreed to merge under the Jin Air brand, with the boards of all three carriers approving the plan on 21 August. Shareholder approval is planned for December 2026, followed by regulatory approval. The combined airline is scheduled to launch on 17 March 2027 as part of wider restructuring within South Korea’s aviation sector.
Kenya Airways Targets Increased Fleet Availability as Fuel Pressures Margins
Kenya Airways is seeking to improve fleet availability while managing higher fuel costs and operational pressures. The airline previously reported a 72 percent increase in fuel costs during the first half of 2026, alongside delays in spare parts deliveries and aircraft maintenance. These pressures have affected aircraft availability and added further strain to operating margins.
ACL Airshop Signs Long-Term ULD Management Agreement with Atlas Air
ACL Airshop has signed a long-term agreement to provide Atlas Air with integrated unit load device management services, including fleet management, MRO, digital tracking and global logistics support. Atlas Air will also use ACL Airshop’s IoT-based tracking technology and ULD management software for real-time visibility, utilisation insights and analytics. Continuous monitoring is intended to improve availability and reduce operational disruption and costs.
Eurowings to Roll Out Premium Biz Across Entire Airbus A320neo Fleet
Eurowings plans to introduce its Premium Biz product across its entire Airbus A320neo fleet, with the front section of the aircraft reconfigured for the new cabin. The first two rows will move from a 2x3 to a 2x2 layout, while seating in other forward rows will be reduced from 18 to eight. The airline has selected Geven’s Comoda seat, featuring recline, an adjustable leg rest and USB in-seat power.
Asiana Introduces Korean Air Aircraft on Selected US Services
Asiana Airlines has filed changes to selected US services for the Northern winter 2026/27 season, with Korean Air aircraft scheduled to operate under OZ-coded flight numbers from 17 December 2026. Boeing 777-300ERs, 787-10s and Airbus A380s will be deployed on selected routes, replacing Asiana Airbus A350 aircraft.
SalamAir Establishes Salalah’s First Airline Base
SalamAir is establishing Salalah’s first airline base, expanding direct international connectivity from Dhofar. The base will initially serve Jeddah, Chattogram and Calicut, with flights scheduled to begin at the end of October as part of the airline’s Winter 2026 programme.
airBaltic Cancels Planned Liège Services
airBaltic has cancelled its planned winter services from Liège Airport to Tenerife South and Gran Canaria, leaving the airport without scheduled commercial passenger flights following TUI fly’s withdrawal in January 2026. The airline had initially planned two weekly flights to each destination before reducing the programme three weeks ago because of weak bookings. The routes have now been cancelled altogether.
Dubai International Passenger Traffic Falls 31.3 Percent in First Half of 2026
Dubai International Airport handled 31.5 million passengers between January and June 2026, representing a decrease of 31.3 percent compared with the same period in 2025. Dubai Airports described the first half of the year as challenging, with disruption to air travel across the region affecting passenger traffic.

easyJet Sees Strong Take-Up of Over-50s Recruitment Drive
easyJet has reported strong participation in its initiative to recruit older workers, first launched in 2022. The number of cabin crew aged over 50 has increased by 127 percent, while the number of cabin crew aged over 60 has almost quadrupled.
Belfast City Airport Issues Pre-Planning Notice Ahead of Major Transformation
Belfast City Airport has issued a pre-application notice to Belfast City Council and Ards and North Down Borough Council ahead of plans to significantly extend the airport. The proposals form part of its Master Plan 2040 and include a new rail halt, expanded passenger facilities, new airfield infrastructure, additional parking and a hotel. If progressed, the rail halt would make Belfast City Airport the first airport in Ireland with a direct rail link.
Aer Lingus and IALPA Hold Consultation on Proposed Restructuring
Aer Lingus and IALPA held consultation talks over proposed restructuring measures, with the session ending after 12 minutes amid differing views on the involvement of the IAG European Works Council. The proposals cover 500 redundancies, including 70 pilots, 140 cabin crew and 290 office roles. Aer Lingus reported a 34 million euro first-half loss alongside a 69 million euro second-quarter profit, while IAG is targeting margins of 12 to 15 percent.

IndiGo has identified the induction of its Airbus A350-900 fleet as a key milestone in its international growth plans. The airline is targeting international capacity of 40 percent by FY30, compared with 32 percent in FY26, and has 60 A350-900 aircraft on order with deliveries beginning in 2027. Shareholders have approved a 57 percent increase in the company’s borrowing limit to 1.10 lakh crore rupees, while the carrier plans to retire its damp-leased Boeing 787-9 fleet by October 2026.

Cork Airport handled 360,740 passengers in July 2026, representing a decrease of 4.7 percent compared with July 2025 but an increase of 21.5 percent over pre-pandemic levels. The airport’s rolling annual passenger total reached 3,424,682, representing an increase of 2.9 percent on the twelve months to July 2025.
United Airlines Unveils A321XLR Plans and International Network Expansion
United Airlines has announced 10 new international destinations for 2027, including Okinawa, Toulouse, Luxembourg, Ljubljana, Olbia, Catania, Ibiza, Valencia, Marseille and Terceira. It is also adding Los Angeles–Osaka, Denver–Paris and Washington Dulles–Milan Malpensa, while restoring San Francisco–Tel Aviv. The Airbus A321XLR will begin international service on 1 December on Washington Dulles–Amsterdam and Dublin routes, before expanding to more European destinations in 2027.
WestJet Flight Attendants Ratify New Collective Agreement
WestJet flight attendants have approved a new three-year collective agreement, with 90.2 percent voting in favour. The contract covers 4,400 flight attendants and includes an 18 percent wage increase over three years, starting with a 13 percent increase from October 2026. It also introduces pay for previously unpaid ground work and runs from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2028.
Copenhagen Airport Reports Higher First-Half Profit and Passenger Growth
Copenhagen Airport reported profit before tax of 851 million Danish kroner in the first half of 2026, representing an increase of 43 percent. Passenger traffic reached 16.1 million, an increase of 9 percent, while revenue rose 9 percent to 2.8 billion Danish kroner. Transfer passengers increased 31 percent to 4.3 million, accounting for 27 percent of all passengers, while the airport invested 1.167 billion Danish kroner in future capacity.
Fly2Galicia Opens Bookings Ahead of December Launch
Fly2Galicia will launch operations from Santiago on 1 December 2026 with 17 weekly departures. Its initial network will cover Alicante, Granada, Zaragoza and five European cities, with one-way domestic fares starting from 19 euro and international fares from 39 to 49 euro. The airline will initially operate under an ACMI wet-lease agreement with an unnamed European partner, with its schedule confirmed through October 2027 and a second aircraft under evaluation.

Airlines are continuing to invest in premium airport lounge products, with Cathay Pacific’s new first-class lounge, The Wing, at Hong Kong among the latest developments. The facility was designed by London-based StudioIlse and features dark woods, green leather banquettes and pale green and pink marble, reflecting continued competition around premium ground-based passenger experiences.
