Acumen Aviation backs launch of game changing GIFT City aircraft leasing hub

The India Aircraft Leasing Summit 2021 themed “Rupee Raftaar”, took place today. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and the International Financial Services Centre Authority (IFSCA) in collaboration with Gujarat International Finance Tec – City (GIFT-City) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).  Proceedings began with individual addresses being given, in order of appearance: Mrs. Vandana Aggarwal, Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India Mr. Injeti Srinivas, Chairman, IFSCA Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, Civil Aviation Minister of India Mr. Pradeep Singh Kharola, Chairman & Managing Director, Air India This was followed by the first of two panel discussions moderated by Ms. Shereen Bhan, managing editor of CNBC-TV18.  “Structural reforms for making India a leasing hub” focused on business elements required development, such as regulatory framework, direct and indirect taxes and other provisions.  Those on the panel included Mr. Ronojoy Dutta – CEO, IndiGo; Mr. Sunil Bhaskaran – CEO & MD, Air Asia India; Mr. Vinod Hejmadi – Director of Finance, Air India; Mrs. Vandana Aggarwal – Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India; Mr Alok Anand – Chairman & CEO, Acumen Aviation; Mr. Francois Collet - Head of Aircraft Investors, Airbus & Co-Chair, AWG; Mr. Aashish Sonawala - SVP, Regional Manager, APAC, GECAS, and Mr. Rajesh Bhoot - Joint Secretary Tax Policy & Legislation, CBDT.   During this session the reforms and changes that the IFSCA is planning to introduce to enable India to become a compelling alternative to existing leasing destinations, exemplified by the introduction of GIFT- City,  were presented.  To see what was discussed ……………..These steps are helping bring about the fulfilment of the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat in the sphere of aviation.
