AirAsia expands Penang network with new direct flights to Chengdu, China AirAsia announced it has expanded its network with new direct flights to Chengdu, China from Penang, Malaysia. The low-cost carrier said in a statement that the new three times weekly direct flights will commence on 8^th March. AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat said “We are excited to announce our first new route of the new year, welcoming Visit Malaysia 2020 and in conjunction with Experience Penang 2020. Penang is one of our largest secondary hubs in Peninsular Malaysia, to which we have flown more than 2.4 million guests to the island last year. This is our first route from Penang to Mainland China and we are confident this additional route will continue to boost visitor arrivals into Penang, and vice versa.” AviaAM Financial Leasing China Acquires Boeing 737-800 with Lease Attached AviaAM Leasing has announced that its joint venture with the Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment Company (HNCA) – AviaAM Financial Leasing China – has acquired one more Boeing 737-800. The aircraft joined the fleet with a lease agreement attached to the current Chinese lessee – Donghai Airlines, which will operate the aircraft under a nine-year agreement. BOC Aviation Orders 20 New Airbus A320neo Aircraft BOC Aviation Limited has placed a firm order with Airbus for 20 A320neo aircraft. Up to 12 of the newly-ordered aircraft will be leased to Colombia’s Avianca Airlines. Dragon Announces Purchase And Leaseback With Indigo Dragon Aviation Leasing Company Limited has announced this week a purchase and leaseback transaction IndiGo that includes three A320neo and two A321neo aircraft. The aircraft are expected to deliver between February and May 2020. Dragon Aviation Leasing Chief Executive Officer, Gang Li said “We are honored to welcome IndiGo as a new airline customer. IndiGo has led the rapid growth of the Indian aviation market, and we are delighted to provide our support and look forward to building a long-lasting partnership.” Japan Airlines Enhances International Network in China by Signing Codeshare Agreement with Shanghai Airlines Japan Airlines (JAL) announced a codeshare agreement with Shanghai Airlines to expand the carrier`s international network in China. Reservations and ticket sales begin on January 9, 2020. The codeshare agreement will add two routes to JAL`s international network, which includes flights between Shanghai Pudong and Osaka Kansai airport, as well as Toyama airport. Both codeshare flights will be operated by Shanghai Airlines. Magnetic MRO receives CAAC certification Magnetic MRO has received the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) certification, proving the company has qualifications and meet local regulatory requirements for the maintenance, repair and overhaul organizations. Obtaining this certification allows the company to expand its capabilities and provide maintenance service on Chinese registered aircraft and its engines. "We are delighted to have received this certificate. CAAC certificate possession allows us to expand our service offerings to Chinese airlines and allows us to perform maintenance in the region. It acknowledges the qualifications we have and will have a positive influence strengthening our positions in the region," shared Francis Liu, board member at Magnetic MRO.
