Aerocity plan in Navi Mumbai takes off Cidco has kicked off the process of developing an aerocity abutting Navi Mumbai International Airport. As airports serve as an engine to boost economy. The aerocity will be a commercial and residential district on its southern side spread over around 300 hectares. From financial services and corporate offices to residential and entertainment centres, hotels, hospitals, schools, and export-oriented services to aero-centric warehousing. The aerocity will accommodate and offer a range of activities and facilities. In all, 400 lakh square feet will be developed as part of the plan, including well-designed roads, Metro lines and automated waste collection systems. AirTaxi service launched in Chandigarh Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar last week inaugurated the country's first small aircraft air taxi service. The air taxi service in its first phase will function from Chandigarh to Hisar. The service will be operated from Chandigarh under UDAN scheme of the central government. The air taxi service will be operated by AirTaxi India which was granted the Scheduled Commuter Airline Permit by the Indian aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) . Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated "For the first time in the country, a small aircraft in the form of an air taxi is being used for services”. Chennai Airport gearing up for a spectacular makeover Chennai Airport, which has been witnessing tremendous traffic growth over the years, is all set to get a swanky makeover. The increase in traffic has necessitated the revamp of the airport aimed at providing a world-class terminal to passengers. Logistics firm Xpressbees partners with SpiceJet for vaccine delivery E-commerce focused logistics firm Xpressbees announced it has partnered with SpiceJet airline to deliver vaccines beyond the metros. SpiceJet has a network across 54 airports in the country and now Xpressbees will take care of mid-mile transportation once they are picked from the airport. Orvakal airport to commence flight operations in March The Indian Government has issued all the approvals, including the aerodrome licence, to Orvakal airport in Kurnool district, Industries and Commerce Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy said. The YSRC government has spent `150 crore for the airport project in the last one year. The new airport will reduce the travel time to Visakhapatnam and other major  cities in the State. SpiceJet adds five destinations to India from UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah Airport SpiceJet has expanded its operations from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RAK Airport) to five more cities including Mumbai, Cochin, Amritsar, Lucknow and Jaipur and increased frequency on its existing Delhi-Ras Al Khaimah-Delhi route. Ras Al Khaimah aims to attract 2.9 million visitors per year by 2025 and tourism is one of its central elements in its economic diversification strategy.
