Akbar Travels of India Expands Partnership with Sabre Akbar Travels of India, has expanded its long-standing partnership with Sabre. Akbar Travels, which has 150 branches across India, 36 offices in the Middle East, Malaysia, UK, Italy and the US, has selected Sabre’s Content Services for Lodging APIs to enable its agents to more easily shop, compare and book more than a million lodging options for clients. Abdul Nazar, Chairman & Managing Director of Akbar Travels of India said Sabre and Akbar Travels have had a long, valued and productive relationship, and we’re excited to be again expanding our partnership by using Sabre’s Content Services for Lodging technologies to provide further choice and even better service for our travellers.” Alliance Air to commence Bengaluru-Goa service Alliance Air, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India is set to commence flight operations connecting Bengaluru to Goa via Mysuru from 1ar July using ATR72-600 aircraft. The flights will be operating daily, except Tuesday. Kushinagar Airport in Uttar Pradesh to be an international airport The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval for the declaration of Kushinagar Airport in the state of Uttar Pradesh as an international airport. Kushinagar itself is known to be a Buddhist cultural site and the Kushinagar Airport is located in the vicinity of several well known Buddhist cultural sites like Lumbini, Kapilvastu, Sravasti, etc. The transformation of Kushinagar Airport into an international airport will also give a boost to domestic and international tourism as well as economic development of the regions. Rémi Maillard Appointed President of Airbus India Airbus has appointed Rémi Maillard as President of Airbus India and Managing Director of South Asia region, effective 1 September 2020. In his new role, Rémi will lead Airbus’ business in South Asia. He will be responsible for commercial aircraft sales and business development, and he will manage Airbus’ regional footprint, which includes engineering, innovation, customer support and services as well as training. He will also help progress Airbus’ top defence and helicopters campaigns and boost the company’s ‘Make in India’ programmes. 16 seaplane routes identified for regional connectivity under UDAN scheme As many as 16 seaplane routes have been identified for regional connectivity under the UDAN scheme. The Seaplanes will offer faster and hassle-free travel option in difficult terrains of the country, it said. Sabarmati and Sardar Sarovar - Statue of Unity route is included in the project and is likely to be operationalised by October 2020. Shipping Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviewed the seaplane projects in the 'Chai pe Charcha' meeting, a unique and innovative meeting platform of the ministry officials to bring about the changes in the Indian maritime sector. 588 Flights Operated Under Lifeline Udan: Aviation Minister The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) announced that 588 flights have been operated under Lifeline Udan by Air India, Alliance Air, IAF and private carriers to transport essential medical supplies amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said "Lifeline Udan has seen 588 flights so far and has carried over 940 tonnes of cargo. The cargo essentially covered COVID-19 related reagents, enzymes, medical equipment, testing kits, PPEs, masks, gloves, medicines and other accessories and cargo requisitioned by state and UT governments."  The minister said that the government is planning to add more flights in Vande Bharat Mission in 3rd and 4th phase.
