CSIA fortifies Mumbai’s international connectivity The world’s busiest airport operating on a single runway GVK MIAL’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) in Mumbai has announced the commencement of direct flight operations by Air Canada starting July 2. This is part of the move to further enhance the seamless air connectivity offered to flyers from the financial capital of India. The Mumbai-Toronto route will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 with a capacity of 298 passengers. Indian/Australian Airvan 10 receives FAA, CASA certification The GippsAero Airvan 10 turboprop single has received type certification from both the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and U.S. FAA, parent company Mahindra Aerospace announced. The 10-seat, Rolls-Royce M250-powered airplane is a stretched version of GippsAero’s Airvan 8 piston single. The company said it plans to focus sales efforts for the Airvan 10 in “large markets for regional connectivity, such as India and Africa.” Deliveries are set to start early next year, according to GippsAero CEO Keith Douglas. India’s Capital To Get Second International Airport India’s domestic traffic growth of 20 percent a year has led the federal government to clear a $3 billion proposal to construct a greenfield airport at Jewar, some 72 miles from Delhi International Airport (DIA), the busiest in the country. DIA, which now sees annual passenger throughput of 62 million, will become saturated once it reaches its peak capacity of 109 million.   The new airport will reside in the 42,000-sq-km National Capital Region (NCR), which includes Delhi and surrounding urban areas of three neighboring states. Rolls-Royce India Hands PR Remit To First Partners Rolls Royce India has appointed communications consultancy First Partners agency of record to handle it’s communications and PR remit for the India and South Asia Region. Safran and Maini Precision Products sign supply contract for LEAP engine guide vanes Safran aircraft engines has taken a significant step forward in its commitment to the Indian government’s “Make In India” initiative by choosing Main Precision Products (MPP) to manufacture the low pressure turbine (LPT) guide vanes for LEAP Engines. Safran aircraft engines signed the contract with Bangalore based MPP at the Paris Air Show. Singapore Airlines to start A350 services to India Singapore Airlines is all set to introduce its A350 services to India. Mumbai will be the 16th destination within its network to receive the Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The daily scheduled Singapore Airlines flight SQ421 will be served by this new aircraft and the inaugural A350 service from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai commencing on the July 1, Acumen Aviation © 3 July All Rights Reserved.
