GECAS Delivers First 737 MAX8 to Jet Airways GECAS announced 19 June the delivery of the first Boeing 737 MAX8s to Jet Airways (India) Limited and the first Boeing MAX aircraft to enter service in India. This new aircraft continues GECAS’ partnership with Jet Airways, which began 25 years ago. The addition of these new technology aircraft, fitted with CFM-LEAP-1B27 engines, aligns with Jet Airways’ growth strategy while offering enhanced fuel efficiency over previous technology. GECAS: Second lease aircraft represent major opportunity for airlines GECAS product strategy VP Damien Trottier, speaking at the Centre for Asia Pacific LCCs in North Asia Summit, stated although "some airlines are not too keen on getting used assets", GECAS believes second lease aircraft represent a substantial opportunity for airlines, including LCCs. Mr Trottier said the economic benefits of second lease aircraft outweigh higher maintenance and fuel costs associated with operating older aircraft. NAC has committed to lease four new Embraer E190's to LOT Polish Airlines Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) announced 14 June that it has committed to lease four new Embraer E190’s to LOT Polish Airlines. The placement of the new aircraft are from NAC’s existing Embraer order book. Ryanair Partner Laudamotion in talks with Airbus, lessors over new planes According to a Reuters report 18 June Ryanair Partner Laudamotion is in talks with both Airbus and leasing companies to expand its fleet quickly as it seeks to establish itself following its rebirth from the remains of Air Berlin. The carrier operates nine Airbus A320 planes and is using a further 10 Boeing 737-800s from Ryanair this year, taking its fleet to 19.
