AAR Launches Donecle Drone Technology Integration for MRO Aircraft Inspections

AAR has announced the integration of Donecle drone technology into its award-winning maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations. AAR´s Miami MRO facility is the first in its global network to use the fully automated drone technology to drive operational and cost efficiencies, where the pilot phase has yielded increases in speed and precision. With laser positioning, the drone can safely perform end-to-end visual inspections of B737 and A320 aircraft in under an hour.

AAR expands Component Repair services with BAE Systems, providing additional regional jet program support

AAR has expanded its Component Repair and overhaul services with BAE Systems Regional Aircraft to include a wider range of components for its regional jet support programs. AAR began executing on the Component Repair contract in January 2019, and following strong operational performance, signed a service expansion agreement in September to cover additional components. The scope of services focuses on BAE Systems’ out-of-production regional aircraft, utilizing AAR’s proven expertise in legacy platform component repair.

Bombardier Global 7500 Completes 8,225-nm Flight 

Bombardier’s biggest business jet, the Global 7500, continues to bust records—this time in the category of aircraft range, the Canadian airframer announced yesterday. On October 6, its demo aircraft completed an 8,225-nm flight between Sydney, Australia, and Detroit, Michigan, with some help from 20-knot tailwinds, besting a 7,990-nm flight, also in a Global 7500, between Singapore and Tucson, Arizona, earlier this year. The twinjet's published range is 7,700 nm.

Fourth Bell 525 in Flight Test, Aircraft On Production Line

Bell’s 525 "Relentless" super-medium-twin helicopter continues its march toward FAA certification, now likely sometime next year. Currently, four test ships are flying with a fifth slated to join the program soon. Overall, test aircraft have accumulated 1,300 flight hours through the middle of September. Approximately six production aircraft are already in work at Bell’s Amarillo, Texas assembly facility.

NBAA Sees Benefits with East Coast Airspace Redesign

The FAA’s airspace optimization initiative on the U.S. East Coast is expected to bring incremental relief to constraints in business aviation travel beginning with changes taking place this month, according to NBAA. Under the FAA’s Northeast Corridor Atlantic Coast Routes (NEC ACR) initiative, "operators will see significant changes ahead of the project’s targeted November 2020 completion date," the association said.

United Airlines CRJ-550 Tickets Available for Purchase

United Airlines announced 10 October tickets for its newest regional fleet member, the Bombardier CRJ-550, will be available for purchase commencing 12 October for travel beginning Sunday, October 27. The initial schedule includes 15 cities from Chicago O'Hare. The CRJ-550 is the world's only 50-seat regional aircraft to offer true first-class seating and other premium amenities
