AAR PW2000 contract with MTU Maintenance extended for another five years AAR announced 10 April that it will be extending its PW2000 engine support contract with MTU Maintenance for another five years. AAR will be supplying PW2000 parts to support MTU, which is one of the largest engine overhaul providers in the world. MTU has recently said they have won contracts valued at more than $700 million and remains committed to its PW2000 engine MRO program for at least another 10 years. AAR is an important source of used serviceable materials (USM) in support of these engine overhauls. Airbus launches “Skywise Health Monitoring” with US airline Allegiant Air as early adopter Airbus has launched first operations of a new Skywise service – Skywise Health Monitoring (SHM) – with Allegiant Air on its A320s. Dynamically coupled with Skywise Reliability Services (SRS) and Skywise Predictive Maintenance (SPM), SHM is hosted on Skywise, gathering live diagnostic feeds from the aircraft through its *ACARS link to the airline’s information system. Air Italy inaugurates Milan to San Francisco route Air Italy’s first non-stop flight to San Francisco was inaugurated 10 April, taking off from Milan Malpensa at 1.35 pm, adding a fourth direct service to the United States, following last week’s launch of Milan–Los Angeles and the launch last year of Milan-New York JFK and Milan-Miami. The service operates four times weekly using Airbus A330-200 aircraft. All Nippon Airways awards Collins Aerospace expanded maintenance agreement for 787 fleet Collins Aerospace has been awarded a 10 year support agreement by All Nippon Airways (ANA) for its fleet of Boeing 787-8, 787-9 and new 787-10 aircraft. Under the terms of the agreement, Collins Aerospace will guarantee availability of assets, through access to a global distribution network, enabling minimized aircraft downtime. Bombardier Announces Expiration of its Cash Tender Offer for its 8.750% Senior Notes due 2021 Bombardier announced 11 April that its previously announced cash tender offer to purchase for cash a portion of its 8.750% Senior Notes due 2021 (CUSIP No. 097751BP5 / ISIN No. US097751BP56 (144A) // CUSIP No. C10602BB2 / ISIN No. USC10602BB24 (Reg. S)) expired at 11:59 p.m., New York City time, on April 10. Bombardier Celebrates Delivery of Q400 Aircraft to Qazaq Air Bombardier Commercial Aircraft 11 April celebrated the delivery of the first of two Q400 aircraft ordered by Qazaq Air in 2017. The order followed Qazaq Air’s successful launch of domestic service in Kazakhstan in July 2015, using three leased Q400 aircraft. Delta TechOps, Korean Air Maintenance & Engineering partner to explore MRO services, share operational best practices Delta TechOps and Korean Air Maintenance & Engineering are partnering to share maintenance and operational data as well as to explore reciprocal maintenance activities between both MRO organizations. This work builds on the joint venture partnership between Delta Air Lines and Korean Air that offers customers world-class travel benefits across one of the most comprehensive route networks in the trans-Pacific market. GAMECO Becoming Boeing’s Maintenance Support Supplier On Apr 10th 2019, in Atlanta, USA, GAMECO signed a services agreement with Boeing Global Services and was recognized as Boeing’s maintenance service supplier in Asian-Pacific region. Meanwhile, Boeing will provide training, maintenance data interface and technical support to GAMECO. GA Telesis Launches APU Leasing Business with First Sale and Leaseback on Four Auxiliary Power Units GA Telesis announced 10 April the first sale and leaseback (SLB) on four Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) with a major Eurasian Airline. The three Airbus A320 and one A330 APUs will be on a long-term operating lease with the carrier. JetBlue Readies to Roll Out the Royal Treatment for All with Flights to London as Airline Strengthens Relevance in New York and Boston with First European Destination JetBlue announced 10 April it intends to launch multiple daily flights from both cities to London in 2021 the carrier’s first European destination. The new routes, which will be served by Airbus A321LR single-aisle aircraft with a reimagined version of Mint, will mark the first-ever transatlantic service offered by the award-winning airline. JetBlue is evaluating which London airports it will serve. Joanna Geraghty, president and chief operating officer, JetBlue said “Twenty years ago, our founders had a simple formula for choosing a new market – it had to be overpriced, underserved, or both. London is the largest metro area JetBlue doesn’t yet serve from both Boston and New York, and we could not be more thrilled to be changing that in the years ahead. The fares being charged today by airlines on these routes, specifically on the premium end, are enough to make you blush.” Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation Receives Letter of Authorization from Federal Aviation Administration Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation announced today that it has received the Letter of Authorization (LOA) from United States civil aviation authority, the Federal Aviation Administration. The LOA provides authorization for the FAA team to be onboard the Mitsubishi Regional Jet in support of certification activities and pilots from the FAA have already flown two familiarization flights in the Mitsubishi Regional Jet. Robert Deluce appointed executive chairman at Porter Airlines as part of leadership reorganization The executive team of Porter Airlines is reorganizing to ensure continuity for its immediate and future development. Effective immediately, Robert Deluce, Porter's founding president and CEO, assumes the new role of executive chairman, enhancing his existing responsibilities as a member of the board of directors, while staying engaged in Porter's core business strategies.
