Thought Leadership: Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787-10 Market Overview

As both the Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787-10 enter their perspective certification process in the eighth of our Thought Leadership series Ameya Gore AVP-Asset Management examines the aircraft from an market perspective . General Comparison The largest variants in the respective families driven by market demand for replacing or rather substituting the 4 engine super jumbos, these aircraft could be the future of extra-long haul application. With the demand expected to be weak for the A380s in the near future as we near the peak of another economic cycle, these entrants may shape up well for the future. A350-1000 Worthy competitor as well as replacement to the A330-200/300 being phased out and equally worthy compliment to the upcoming A330-Neo variant. Can be used for various missions.  Possibly good upgrade product for operators using the smaller variant already. Boeing 787-10 Could well replace the B767 effectively but will need to watch for pitfalls along the way as the Max variants also come into the market. A tough one to predict as the B737-Max program is also playing on everyone's mind right now. Similar to A350-1000, possibly a good upgrade to the existing smaller variants. Large twin body market An interesting space to watch for. Only two contenders in this market right now and a lot to play for - especially at a time when the oil prices are low, A380 is on the down slide on demand, B777 and A330 going strong, smaller variants of A350 and B787 catching up slowly and the B737-Max series expected to come into the market soon.
