Emirates Deploys Airbus A350 Between Dubai And Dublin

Emirates has deployed its new Airbus A350 aircraft on flights between Dubai International and Dublin, operating evening service EK163/4 from 27 May to 12 June 2026. The first service was operated by Airbus A350-941 A6-EXO, c/n 750. The three-class A350 is configured with 32 Business Class seats, 28 Premium Economy seats and 238 Economy Class seats, adding Emirates’ latest-generation cabin product on the Dublin route.

 

Royal Jordanian Airbus A320 Positions To Ireland West Airport

Royal Jordanian Airbus A320-232 JY-AYW, named Irbid, was ferried from Amman Queen Alia International Airport to Ireland West Airport on 19 May. The aircraft operated as flight RJA017 and arrived at 1623 local time. The aircraft, c/n 05367, first flew in October 2012 as F-WWDU before delivery to Royal Jordanian in November 2012 as JY-AJW. The A320 entered service in a two-class 150-seat configuration.

Arora Group has released an updated Heathrow West proposal, outlining a phased third runway plan with a Development Consent Order application targeted for November 2027. Speaking at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit in Charleston, CEO Andrew Levy said the carrier plans to fly its Boeing 737-800s alongside the E2s.

Avion Express has appointed Vytenis Suklys as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 June. Suklys previously served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer, bringing experience in airline business, financial management and logistics to the role. He succeeds Darius Kajokas, who led the company for more than eight years through a period of international expansion and operational growth. The appointment supports Avion Express’ focus on strengthening operational performance and continuing its growth across global ACMI markets. 

 

Azul Orders Four Additional Airbus A330neo Aircraft

Azul Linhas Aéreas has disclosed an order for four additional Airbus A330-900 aircraft, bringing its A330neo backlog to 11 aircraft. The order reinforces the A330neo as the backbone of Azul’s future long-haul fleet, supporting services across the United States, Europe and South America. The commitment also reflects the airline’s focus on fleet commonality, long-haul efficiency and improved passenger experience through Airbus’ latest-generation widebody cabin product.

 

Belgium Plans Further Aviation Tax Increase

The Belgian federal government is planning further increases to its aviation embarkation tax, affecting passengers departing from airports including Brussels and Charleroi. The measure follows a 2025 increase, when charges on some flights rose by as much as 150 percent, prompting airline concerns over cost pressure and competitiveness. The planned rise highlights the growing impact of aviation taxation on airline pricing, airport traffic flows and competitive positioning between neighbouring European markets.

 

BETA Technologies Demonstrates Electric Cargo Aircraft At Ostend

Ostend-Bruges Airport has welcomed BETA Technologies’ Alia CX300 fully electric cargo aircraft for the first time. The aircraft, registered N214BT, arrived from Rotterdam Airport on 30 May and has operated a demonstration flight from the Belgian airport as part of BETA Technologies’ Benelux demonstration programme. The stopover at the NSAC Business Terminal forms part of a wider regional airport initiative in Belgium and the Netherlands, showcasing the operational potential of electric aviation for short-haul cargo operations. 

 

BOC Aviation Appoints Adeline Lim As Chief Risk Officer

BOC Aviation has appointed Adeline Lim as Chief Risk Officer, effective 25 May 2026, with responsibility for global risk management, airline credit risk, enterprise risk and governance across the leasing platform. She succeeds Stephen Barnes, who will remain with the company during the transition ahead of retirement.

 

Boeing Saudi Arabia And GACA Launch AAM Feasibility Analysis

Boeing Saudi Arabia and the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia have launched an AAM Airspace and Operational Feasibility Analysis, with support from SkyGrid and KAUST. The initiative activates the Memorandum of Understanding between Boeing Saudi Arabia and GACA and will assess the operational and regulatory viability of Advanced Air Mobility in the Kingdom. The analysis supports the implementation of the GACA AAM Roadmap and advances a pathway towards future Automated Flight Rules operations across Saudi Arabia.

  

Condor Launches Express Cargo Service

Condor has launched an express service in response to growing demand for efficient, time-critical and reliable shipping solutions. The Frankfurt-hubbed carrier said the service will be available across its full route network, covering domestic Germany as well as leisure destinations in Europe, North America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. Condor’s fleet consists of Airbus A320, Airbus A321 and Airbus A330 aircraft. The service was launched because of the growing demand for efficient,time saving & reliable shipping solutions.

 

EBAA Calls For Business Aviation Recognition In EU Policy

The European Business Aviation Association has called on the European Commission to acknowledge business aviation’s value and specific needs in the EU’s new aviation and aeronautics strategy. The trade group issued a summary of its response to the EC consultation process, which concluded on 21 May. In its position paper, EBAA called for business aircraft to be recognised as an integral part of Europe’s transport system, highlighting airport slot allocation as one area where non-scheduled operations face market access disadvantages compared with airlines. 

 

EgyptAir Targets US Growth With A350 Fleet

EgyptAir has resumed service to Los Angeles for the first time in more than two decades as it accelerates its North American expansion strategy. The Star Alliance carrier will operate three flights per week between Cairo International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport using its new Airbus A350-900 fleet. According to OAG Schedules Analyser data, EgyptAir will be the sole scheduled operator on the route, supporting connectivity between Egypt and an underserved U.S. market. 

 

FAA Administrator Signals 777X Certification In 2027

FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford has indicated that the Boeing 737 MAX will be certified by the end of the year, with the 777X expected to follow in 2027. Speaking at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit in Charleston, Bedford said the MAX 7 is expected first, followed by the MAX 10 and potentially the 777 early next year.

Aer Lingus Launches Dublin-Montpellier Service

Aer Lingus has operated its first flight EI540 from Dublin Airport to Montpellier. Flights to Montpellier will run twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, adding another short-haul option to the airline’s summer schedule. The launch follows new Aer Lingus routes from Dublin to Oslo and Asturias, while the carrier also operates 24 routes from Ireland to North America in 2026. 

 

daa Announces 2026 Charity Partners

daa has announced Cancer Fund for Children, Keeley D Foundation and the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust as its Charities of the Year for 2026. The charities were selected by employees across Dublin and Cork airports, with fundraising activity over the next 12 months directed towards the three organisations. Dublin Airport Reaches Level 4+ Carbon Accreditation

Dublin Airport has achieved Level 4+ under the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme, placing it among the top 13 percent of airports globally for carbon management. MetroLink Partners With daa To Deliver Dublin Airport Works

MetroLink will partner with daa and transport agencies to deliver key airport works in 2026. The programme includes airport-related works alongside wider MetroLink updates, including contracts for trains, tracks and stations, utilities and enabling works, minor building works and archaeology works. MetroLink has also launched a new eSourcing portal to streamline procurement. 

 

Ryanair Highlights Rising Cost Of PBH Engine Deals

Ryanair has outlined the savings and competitive advantage it expects to gain from bringing engine maintenance in-house. CFO Neil Sorahan said the airline has had an outstanding power-by-the-hour deal with CFM for the last 25 years, but factors including lower time on wing for its new-generation CFM Leap-1B engines would make a renegotiated deal four to five times more expensive. Launching its own engine facility is expected to mean Ryanair pays roughly double what it paid before, rather than locking in significantly higher PBH rates.
