airBaltic Recommences Dublin-Riga Route

airBaltic has recommenced its direct Dublin to Riga service for the summer season, with the first flight departing on 3 June operated by Airbus A220-300 YL-ABG, MSN 55154. The twice-weekly service operates on Wednesdays and Sundays until 30 August, with an additional Friday frequency added during August to support peak summer demand. The route strengthens Dublin’s connectivity to Eastern Europe, while airBaltic’s onboard Skynet platform, powered by Starlink connectivity, supports an enhanced passenger experience on the sector.

 

EI-HXH Airbus A321LR Delivered To ITA Airways

ITA Airways has taken delivery of Airbus A321-271NXLR EI-HXH, c/n 12949, which was handed over at Hamburg-Finkenwerder and ferried to Rome Fiumicino on 12 May 2026 as flight AZA8021. The aircraft entered commercial service on 15 May, operating the Rome Fiumicino-Brussels rotation as AZA156/159. Configured with 165 seats across Business, Premium Economy and Economy, the aircraft supports ITA Airways’ medium-haul network strategy with improved range, cabin flexibility and narrowbody operating efficiency.

 

Ireland West Airport Aims For French Connectivity

Ireland West Airport welcomed French Ambassador to Ireland Céline P. Place as part of her official visit to the West and Northwest of Ireland. The airport outlined the demand for services between the West of Ireland and France, noting that more than 50 percent of French visitors to Ireland travel to the West and Northwest. Securing direct French access would support regional tourism, improve inbound connectivity and strengthen Ireland West Airport’s role in linking the west of Ireland with key European markets.

Airbus A320-232 OE-ILW, c/n 4246, registered to Cleodell Limited, was recorded at Prague on 1 June 2026. The aircraft was previously registered 9H-MLR, with the update marking its latest registration activity.

Azul Linhas Aéreas has disclosed an order for four additional Airbus A330-900 aircraft, bringing its A330neo backlog to 11 aircraft. The airline has confirmed the A330neo as the backbone of its future long-haul operations. Azul’s A330neo fleet also supports cabin product consistency, high-speed connectivity and commonality with its existing A330ceo fleet.

 

Belgium Plans Further Aviation Tax Increase

The Belgian federal government plans to further increase its aviation tax in the coming years as part of broader budgetary measures. The embarkation tax applies to passengers departing from Belgian airports, including Brussels Airport and Charleroi Airport, and is expected to affect millions of passengers. BOC Aviation Appoints Adeline Lim as Chief Risk Officer

BOC Aviation has appointed Adeline Lim as Chief Risk Officer, effective 25 May 2026. In the role, she will lead the company’s global risk management function, including airline credit risk, enterprise risk and governance across risk domains. Lim replaces Stephen Barnes, who will remain with the company to support a smooth transition until his retirement.

 

Boeing Saudi Arabia and GACA Launch AAM Feasibility Analysis

Boeing Saudi Arabia and GACA have launched an Advanced Air Mobility Airspace and Operational Feasibility Analysis, supported by SkyGrid and KAUST. The initiative will assess the operational and regulatory viability of AAM in Saudi Arabia, supporting the GACA AAM Roadmap. The study will evaluate AAM routes, cooperative airspace areas, CNS infrastructure, vertiports and airports for piloted and remotely piloted aerial vehicles.

 

Condor Launches Express Cargo Service

Condor has launched an express cargo service across its route network in response to rising demand for efficient, time-critical and reliable shipping solutions. The Frankfurt-hubbed carrier operates Airbus A320, Airbus A321 and Airbus A330 aircraft across domestic Germany and leisure destinations in Europe, North America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. The service is aimed at shipments requiring short transit times, with reduced delivery cut-off times, guaranteed capacity availability and prioritised transportation.

 

EBAA Calls for Business Aviation Recognition in EU Policy

The European Business Aviation Association has called on the European Commission to recognise business aviation’s value and specific needs in the EU’s new aviation and aeronautics strategy. The trade group issued its response following an EC consultation process that concluded on 21 May. EBAA said business aircraft should be protected as part of Europe’s transport system, citing airport slot allocation as an area where non-scheduled operations face market access challenges compared with airlines.

 

EgyptAir Targets U.S. Growth With A350-900 Fleet

EgyptAir has resumed service to Los Angeles for the first time in more than two decades as part of its North American expansion strategy. The Star Alliance carrier will operate three weekly flights between Cairo International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport using its new Airbus A350-900 fleet. According to OAG Schedules Analyser data, EgyptAir is the sole scheduled operator on the route.

 

FAA Administrator Signals 777X Certification in 2027

FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford has suggested that Boeing’s 777X could be certified in 2027, following expected certification progress on the 737 MAX 7 and MAX 10. Speaking at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit in Charleston, Bedford said he expected the MAX 7 first, followed by the MAX 10 and hopefully the 777 early next year. The comments point to a staged certification sequence across key Boeing aircraft programmes.

Ryanair Highlights Rising PBH Engine Maintenance Costs

Ryanair has outlined the savings and competitive advantage it expects from bringing engine maintenance in-house. CFO Neil Sorahan said the airline has had an outstanding power-by-the-hour deal with CFM for the past 25 years. However, he noted that factors including lower time on wing for new-generation CFM Leap-1B engines mean a renegotiated deal today could be four to five times the rate Ryanair has been paying.
