EirTrade Aviation Acquires A320 and Boeing 737-800 Airframes
EirTrade Aviation has acquired an Airbus A320-200 previously operated by Royal Jordanian and a Boeing 737-800 formerly operated by Nok Air. Both aircraft are due to undergo immediate disassembly at the company’s facility at Ireland West Airport Knock. EirTrade has also recently secured authorisations from the Bailiwick of Guernsey (2-REG), the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI, VP-C), and the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA, VP-B) to support aircraft operations, transitions, parking, and storage at the Knock facility.
flydubai Boeing 737 MAX 9 Delivered via Shannon
flydubai has taken delivery of Boeing 737 MAX 9 A6-FND, MSN 66574, configured with 172 seats across two classes. The aircraft travelled from Boeing Field in Seattle to Dubai via Shannon between 31 August and 2 September 2026. The delivery brings flydubai’s Boeing 737 fleet to 98 aircraft, comprising 26 737-800s, 68 737 MAX 8s and four 737 MAX 9s, supporting a network of more than 120 destinations across 56 countries.
Aer Lingus Operates One-Time Dublin–Brussels A330 Service
Aer Lingus operated a one-off Dublin–Brussels service on 9 September 2026 using two-class, 317-seat Airbus A330-302 EI-EDY, msn 1025, instead of the usual 174-seat Airbus A320-200. The higher-capacity aircraft was deployed amid increased demand linked to meetings associated with Ireland’s EU Presidency. The operation also highlighted the A330-300’s flexibility across both short- and long-haul routes.
Ethiopian Airlines Takes Delivery of Two Boeing 737-8s via Dublin.
Ethiopian Airlines has taken delivery of two new Boeing 737-8 aircraft, both routing through Dublin on their delivery flights from Boeing Field to Addis Ababa. ET-BCR, msn 43576, was delivered between 26 and 27 August 2026, while ET-BCS, msn 43577, followed the same routing between 27 and 29 August 2026.

Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737-8 ET-BCU, MSN 62953, was delivered from Boeing Field to Addis Ababa via Dublin between 15 and 17 September 2026.
Wizz Air Airbus A321neo HA-LNC Delivered to Budapest
Wizz Air Airbus A321-271NX HA-LNC, MSN 11415, ex D-AZAH, was delivered from Hamburg to Budapest on 16 September 2026.

Aegean Airlines Reportedly Set to Take Control of Volotea
Aegean Airlines is reportedly preparing to become the controlling shareholder of Volotea through a financial restructuring involving debt conversion and new capital. The proposed transaction would convert 56 million euro of Volotea’s debt into equity and include a 15 million euro capital increase, with Aegean expected to contribute 9.5 million euro.
Air Serbia Launches Direct Belgrade–Tenerife Service
Air Serbia has launched direct flights between Belgrade and Tenerife, expanding its Spanish network with a nonstop connection to the Canary Islands. The service will operate twice weekly, with the airline citing strong bookings and demand for autumn and winter travel. The route is also expected to attract connecting passengers using Air Serbia’s Belgrade hub.
Condor Signs Interline Agreement with American Airlines
Condor has entered an interline partnership with American Airlines, allowing passengers to combine flights from both carriers on a single ticket. Condor customers will gain onward access through Boston, New York JFK, Chicago and Los Angeles, while American Airlines passengers will be able to connect through Frankfurt and Munich to destinations served by Condor.
Korean Air Finalises Record Order for 103 Boeing Aircraft
Korean Air has finalised an order for 103 Boeing aircraft, confirming a commitment first announced in August 2025. The order includes 20 Boeing 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s and eight 777-8 Freighters. The aircraft will support both passenger and cargo operations as part of Korean Air’s long-term fleet modernisation programme.
airBaltic Receives Court Approval to Continue Chapter 11 Operations
A US bankruptcy court has approved airBaltic’s initial Chapter 11 requests, allowing the airline to continue normal operations during its financial restructuring. The carrier has also received interim approval to access an initial 140 million euro from its 350 million euro debtor-in-possession financing facility. Remaining funds will become available in stages, subject to financing conditions and further court approval where required.
ACIA Aero Leasing Delivers ATR 72-600 to Air Nostrum
ACIA Aero Leasing has delivered an ATR 72-600, MSN 1099, to Air Nostrum under a lease agreement, marking its first transaction with the Spanish regional carrier. The 72-seat aircraft is expected to enter commercial service immediately and will provide additional turboprop capacity for Air Nostrum’s regional network.
BermudAir to Become First Embraer E190F Operator in the Americas
BermudAir will add an Embraer E190F under lease from Regional One, becoming the first operator of the E-Freighter in the Americas and the second worldwide. The aircraft will support a new dedicated cargo business targeting express shipments, e-commerce and time-sensitive freight between Bermuda, the Caribbean and North America.
FAA Introduces SMART System to Anticipate Flight Disruption
The US Federal Aviation Administration is rolling out SMART, or Strategic Management of Airspace, Routes, and Trajectories, as part of efforts to modernise the country’s air traffic control infrastructure. The system is designed to identify potential disruption before delays and cancellations spread across the wider aviation network.
IATA Calls for Greater Access to Used Engine Parts
IATA is calling for greater competition in the aircraft engine aftermarket, arguing that restrictions on some replacement parts are contributing to shortages, maintenance delays and higher costs. The association cited evidence that engine shortages cost airlines nearly 6 billion dollars last year and is urging manufacturers to give suppliers greater flexibility to provide used components. The issue comes amid a European Commission antitrust investigation into alleged anticompetitive behaviour by Pratt & Whitney.
Jill Albertelli to Become Pratt & Whitney President
RTX has named Jill Albertelli as the next president of Pratt & Whitney, effective 1 January 2027. She will succeed Shane Eddy, who is retiring after leading the aeroengine manufacturer since March 2022 and will remain as a special adviser through March 2027. Albertelli has led Pratt & Whitney’s Military Engines business since 2021 and has experience spanning engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial programmes and maintenance operations.

Ireland Introduces New Summer Schedule for Aircraft Mechanic Apprenticeships
Ireland’s aircraft mechanic apprenticeship programme will introduce a new summer training option from 2027, running from May to October and accommodating 45 students. The schedule is intended to align more closely with aircraft maintenance and operational requirements while providing greater flexibility for apprentices and aviation employers.
Catania Airport Reopens Following Mount Etna Ash Disruption
Catania Airport reopened on the evening of 15 September after volcanic ash from Mount Etna had forced the suspension of arrivals and departures from 14 September. Although flights have resumed, airlines continue to manage delays and schedule changes following dozens of cancellations and diversions. Airport operator SAC has advised passengers to check their flight status directly with their airline before travelling to the airport.
Delta Dublin–New York Flight Returns Following Medical Emergency
A Delta Air Lines Boeing 767 operating from Dublin to New York JFK returned to Dublin on 15 September following a passenger medical emergency. The aircraft, carrying 204 passengers and 10 crew, landed back in Dublin shortly before 4:20 PM and was met by medical teams. The flight subsequently departed again at around 5:42 PM and continued to New York.
AerCap Approves New 1 Billion Dollar Share Repurchase Programme
AerCap’s board has approved a new share repurchase programme of up to 1 billion dollars, running through 30 June 2027. Repurchases may be made through open-market or privately negotiated transactions, with timing and volumes determined by management based on market conditions and other factors. The programme will be funded through cash on hand and cash generated from operations.
UK Climate Advisers Assess Heathrow Expansion Against Net-Zero Target
The UK Climate Change Committee has concluded that Heathrow expansion would not be compatible with the country’s current pathway to net-zero emissions by 2050 unless aviation takes further action to address its emissions. The UK government has backed a third runway on economic-growth grounds, while the CCC said additional measures would be needed for expansion to proceed alongside existing climate targets.
Guernsey Airport Records Continued Passenger Growth
Guernsey Airport recorded its strongest summer passenger levels since 2019, with more than 75,000 travellers passing through the airport in both July and August. July passenger numbers increased by 10 percent year on year, followed by 7 percent growth in August, while Guernsey Ports also reported continued growth across sea travel.
IATA Calls for Coordinated E-Visa Verification
IATA says a new coordinated approach is needed for verifying electronic visas as their use becomes more widespread. The association highlighted the need for verification processes that work effectively for both passengers and airlines while retaining the convenience offered by digital visa systems.
Wizz Air to Launch Malmö–Pristina Service
Wizz Air will launch a direct service between Malmö and Pristina on 15 December 2026, operating three times weekly with a 239-seat Airbus A321neo. Swedavia said the route will strengthen links between Sweden and Kosovo, supporting leisure, visiting-friends-and-relatives and business travel. Wizz Air said the service forms part of its continued expansion in Northern Europe.
Cork Airport Welcomes Aer Lingus “Iolar” for Anniversary Visit
Cork Airport welcomed Aer Lingus de Havilland DH.84 Dragon “Iolar” on 15 September as part of celebrations marking Aer Lingus’ 90th anniversary and Cork Airport’s 65th anniversary year. Operating as flight EI1936 under Captain Garret Brady, the aircraft arrived shortly after 11:00 AM and received a special escort from the runway to the parking stand by Cork Airport Police & Fire Service. The visit highlighted a significant piece of Irish aviation heritage for airport staff, customers and aviation enthusiasts.
