EirTrade Aviation Acquires A320 and Boeing 737-800 Airframes
EirTrade Aviation has acquired an Airbus A320-200 previously operated by Royal Jordanian and a Boeing 737-800 formerly operated by Nok Air. Both aircraft are due to undergo immediate disassembly at the company’s facility at Ireland West Airport Knock. EirTrade has also recently secured authorisations from the Bailiwick of Guernsey (2-REG), the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI, VP-C), and the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA, VP-B) to support aircraft operations, transitions, parking, and storage at the Knock facility.
flydubai Boeing 737 MAX 9 Delivered via Shannon
flydubai has taken delivery of Boeing 737 MAX 9 A6-FND, MSN 66574, configured with 172 seats across two classes. The aircraft travelled from Boeing Field in Seattle to Dubai via Shannon between 31 August and 2 September 2026. The delivery brings flydubai’s Boeing 737 fleet to 98 aircraft, comprising 26 737-800s, 68 737 MAX 8s and four 737 MAX 9s, supporting a network of more than 120 destinations across 56 countries.
Aer Lingus Operates One-Time Dublin–Brussels A330 Service
Aer Lingus operated a one-off Dublin–Brussels service on 9 September 2026 using two-class, 317-seat Airbus A330-302 EI-EDY, msn 1025, instead of the usual 174-seat Airbus A320-200. The higher-capacity aircraft was deployed amid increased demand linked to meetings associated with Ireland’s EU Presidency. The operation also highlighted the A330-300’s flexibility across both short- and long-haul routes.
Ethiopian Airlines Takes Delivery of Two Boeing 737-8s via Dublin.
Ethiopian Airlines has taken delivery of two new Boeing 737-8 aircraft, both routing through Dublin on their delivery flights from Boeing Field to Addis Ababa. ET-BCR, msn 43576, was delivered between 26 and 27 August 2026, while ET-BCS, msn 43577, followed the same routing between 27 and 29 August 2026.

Alliance Airlines Fokker 100 VH-XWT, MSN 11338, ex D-AGPQ, was ferried from Perth to Woensdrecht via Port Hedland, Johannesburg, Bengaluru, Al Ain, Alexandria and Sofia between 13 and 15 September 2026, ahead of delivery to a new operator.
easyJet Airbus A320neo G-ZONB Delivered to London Gatwick
easyJet Airbus A320-251N G-ZONB, MSN 13493, ex F-WWIG, was delivered from Toulouse to London Gatwick on 11 September 2026.

Brussels Airport Passenger and Cargo Traffic Rise in August
Brussels Airport handled 2.52 million passengers in August 2026, an increase of 1.3 percent year on year, while more than 5.1 million passengers travelled through the airport during July and August. Growth was supported by new routes to São Paulo with LATAM, Kilimanjaro with Brussels Airlines, Halifax with Air Canada and Chengdu with Air China, alongside additional summer capacity from Transavia.
T&E Highlights Potential Carbon Budget Impact of European Airport Expansion
Transport & Environment says expansion plans at 20 major European airports could push aviation emissions beyond carbon budgets it considers compatible with the Paris Agreement. The organisation estimates that planned growth across the airports could generate around 225 million tonnes of additional CO₂ emissions beyond existing-capacity levels. Brussels Airport is among those assessed, with T&E identifying a gap between projected growth and the carbon budget used in its 1.7°C scenario.
Emirates Reports Strong Summer Demand as Fleet Expansion Continues
Emirates carried more than 8.6 million passengers during July and August 2026, with load factors above 75 per cent across several regions. The airline is operating at around 93 per cent of its pre-disruption capacity and says winter bookings are encouraging across markets including South Africa, Brazil, India, Portugal, Egypt, Ghana, Colombia, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Inbound traffic to Dubai also increased, while demand for Premium Economy was particularly strong in the Americas.
Saudi Arabia Grants AOC to New Dammam Low-Cost Carrier
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation has issued an Air Operator Certificate to the Air Arabia-led consortium establishing a new low-cost airline at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. The approval follows completion of GACA’s technical, safety, security and operational requirements, clearing the carrier to begin operations and advancing plans for a new national airline serving Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
Chapter 11 Offers Airlines Protection While Restructuring
Chapter 11 can allow airlines in financial difficulty to continue operating while restructuring debts, aircraft leases and other major obligations under court protection. airBaltic entered the process on 14 September with 350 million euro in debtor-in-possession financing commitments, subject to court approval, while flights and customer services continue as normal. However, Chapter 11 does not guarantee survival, as outcomes can vary significantly between airlines.
Airbus Sees New Routes Driving Asia-Pacific Narrowbody Demand
Airbus expects Asia-Pacific’s growing middle-income population and the development of new city pairs to drive demand for thousands of narrowbody aircraft over the next 20 years. However, the manufacturer cautioned that a greater propensity to travel does not necessarily translate directly into equivalent growth in air traffic.
Korean Air Receives Approval for Asiana Mileage Integration Plan
Korean Air has received final regulatory approval from the Korea Fair Trade Commission for its plan to integrate Asiana Airlines’ mileage programme. Approved on 15 September, the plan marks an important step in the ongoing merger between the two carriers.
Harbour Air Plans to Acquire Pacific Coastal Airlines
Harbour Air has agreed to acquire fellow British Columbia-based carrier Pacific Coastal Airlines, with the aim of creating a new regional airline group headquartered in Vancouver. Harbour Air currently operates a 40-aircraft fleet, including De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beavers and DHC-3 aircraft.
JFK New Terminal One Opening Delayed to Early 2027
The opening of New York JFK’s New Terminal One has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2027, after previously being scheduled for 2026. The 9.5 billion dollar project will replace the existing Terminal 1 and former Terminals 2 and 3 with a larger international facility. Construction, partner preparations and operational testing are continuing, with the new terminal eventually set to provide 23 gates and 2.6 million square feet of space.
Virgin Atlantic Accelerates Airbus A330-300 Retirements
Virgin Atlantic is bringing forward the retirement of its remaining Airbus A330-300 fleet, with five aircraft set to leave service earlier than originally planned and most expected to transfer to SAS. The move follows a separate agreement for two Boeing 787-9s to join LOT Polish Airlines in 2027. Virgin Atlantic began phasing out the A330-300 in September 2024 as part of a broader fleet renewal programme aimed at operating 45 next-generation aircraft by 2028. The accelerated timetable reflects the opportunity for the A330-300s to continue operating with another airline rather than being sent for teardown.

Air Canada Brings Dublin–Vancouver Service Forward for 2027
Air Canada will bring forward its seasonal Dublin–Vancouver service to 31 March 2027. The route will operate three times weekly until 2 May, increasing to four weekly flights from 3 May, using a 298-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Families travelling with children aged 13 and under will also receive complimentary seating.
Frankfurt Airport Passenger Traffic Remains Below Pre-Pandemic Levels
Frankfurt Airport handled around 6.3 million passengers in August 2026, remaining about 10 percent below pre-pandemic levels. Cargo activity was stronger, rising by 2.9 percent to 179,400 tonnes. Across the wider Fraport group, passenger traffic increased by 2.1 percent to around 24.1 million, with Ljubljana recording the strongest growth.
Ryanair Expands Swedish Winter Programme Following Tax Changes
Ryanair has announced its largest-ever winter schedule in Sweden, with eight based aircraft and 43 routes, including five new services. The airline says the programme will provide capacity for 4.6 million passengers annually and represents an 800 million dollar investment in the Swedish market. However, Ryanair has warned that Swedavia’s 22 percent increase in airport charges could affect future growth.
easyJet’s Fearless Flyer Course Returns to Belfast
easyJet is bringing its Fearless Flyer course back to Belfast International Airport, with an experience flight scheduled for 31 January 2027. Launched in 2012, the programme has helped more than 15,000 people manage their fear of flying and reports a success rate above 95 per cent. The course includes a virtual ground session led by an easyJet captain, explaining common in-flight sounds and sensations, alongside techniques from fear specialist Lawrence Leyton to help participants manage anxiety.
Belfast City Airport Launches Consultation on 200 Million Pound Investment Plans
Belfast City Airport has opened a public consultation on draft investment proposals worth up to 200 million pounds, following the submission of Proposal of Application Notices to Belfast City Council and Ards and North Down Borough Council. The airport will also consult on proposed changes to its existing Planning Agreement, which is overseen by the Department for Infrastructure. The consultation runs from 29 September to 27 October 2026, giving residents, businesses and other stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback through public events or in writing.
Dublin Airport Partners with Ireland Women’s Rugby Team
daa and the Irish Rugby Football Union have announced a new partnership between Dublin Airport and the Ireland Women’s Rugby Team. The airport will provide travel support and promotional opportunities as the team competes internationally, while also helping increase the visibility of women’s rugby across Ireland. The partnership will include player appearances at Dublin Airport, digital and social content, competitions and other activations over the coming months.
Dublin Airport Breaks Summer Passenger Records
Dublin Airport handled more than 3.8 million passengers in August, around 1 per cent higher than the same month last year, bringing summer traffic to just over 11.3 million passengers. August included four of the airport’s ten busiest days on record, with 134,700 passengers travelling through on 16 August. The airport also recorded its 17th consecutive month of passenger growth, while more than 25.6 million passengers passed through Dublin during the first eight months of 2026, around 5.5 per cent more than the same period last year.

For its part, LOT will strengthen its Dreamliner fleet with these two additional aircraft.
