Aer Lingus Deploys A330-300 Capacity on Selected Dublin–Italy Services

Aer Lingus has used 317-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft on selected Dublin–Italy services to provide additional capacity in response to demand. One-off Dublin–Rome flights on 9 and 19 September 2026 were operated by EI-EDY, MSN 1025, and EI-EIK, MSN 0789, replacing the usual 174-seat Airbus A320-200. EI-EIK was also deployed on a Dublin–Verona service on 12 September. The substitutions highlight Aer Lingus’ ability to flex widebody capacity across short-haul routes when demand warrants larger aircraft.

IrishAero Commercial Aircraft Report Highlights Global Fleet Movements

The 21 September IrishAero Commercial Aircraft Report highlights a mix of aircraft deliveries, freighter movements and registration changes across several markets. Air Sial received Airbus A320-232 AP-BPO in Karachi, while Fly One took delivery of Airbus A321-211 ER-00015 in Chisinau. Freighter activity included ASL Airlines France Boeing 737-8AS(F) F-HIQJ, K-Mile Air Boeing 737-8AS(F) HS-KMF and Jupiter Jet Boeing 757-223(F) N195AN. Ireland-linked movements included AJet Boeing 737-8F2 TC-JFN positioning from Istanbul to Ireland West Airport and Boeing 737-8AL 2-AOIF being registered at Shannon, reflecting continued transition and repositioning activity across the commercial fleet market.

Ryanair Increases Ireland West Airport–Liverpool Weekend Frequency

Ryanair will increase frequency on its Ireland West Airport–Liverpool route during the winter season, adding double-daily services on Saturdays and Sundays. The airline will operate 10 weekly flights between the two airports using Liverpool-based Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft, configured with 189 and 198 seats respectively. The additional weekend capacity strengthens connectivity between the west of Ireland and Liverpool, supporting both leisure travel and short-break demand.

Zhejiang Loong Air has taken delivery of Airbus A320-251N B-32TY, MSN 13460, formerly F-WWBU. The aircraft was routed from Toulouse to Hangzhou via Tashkent between 22 and 23 September 2026.

N308NY Airbus A321-253NY Delivered to American Airlines

American Airlines has taken delivery of Airbus A321-253NY N308NY, MSN 12605, formerly D-AXXP. The aircraft is routed from Hamburg to Dallas Fort Worth on 23 September 2026.

Condor Adds Athens and Florence as Frankfurt Network Expands

Condor will launch daily Frankfurt–Athens flights from 28 April 2027 and twice-daily Frankfurt–Florence services from 6 May. The seasonal routes will support the airline’s growing European feeder network. They will be joined by the previously announced Frankfurt–Stockholm service from 13 May 2027, which will operate twice daily throughout the year.

Brussels Airport Completes Five-Year Stargate Sustainability Programme

Brussels Airport has completed Stargate, a five-year European programme covering more than 30 projects focused on decarbonising airport operations, improving local quality of life and supporting sustainable transport. The programme involved 22 partners and received support from the EU’s Horizon 2020 initiative. Electric ground-handling equipment was introduced, including electric fuel dispensers now used daily by Skytanking, while hydrogen-powered equipment was tested at Brussels and Toulouse. The trials found potential for hydrogen where battery-electric options are less practical, although supply and infrastructure remain challenges.

Turkish Airlines Finalises Order for 100 Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft

Turkish Airlines has finalised an order for 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft and secured options for a further 50 737 MAX jets. The agreement is the airline’s largest Boeing single-aisle order and includes substitution rights for the larger 737-10. This gives Turkish Airlines flexibility to adjust future capacity. The aircraft will support domestic and international growth from Istanbul and provide added flexibility on short- and medium-haul routes.

Iberia Unveils Centenary Programme and Special Aircraft Livery

Iberia has started the countdown to its 100th anniversary in 2027 with a special centenary livery and a year-long programme. The celebrations will focus on the airline’s history, employees, passengers and links between Spain and Latin America. The main institutional event will take place at Iberia’s La Muñoza maintenance centre in June 2027, the month the airline was founded. Other activities will include an air show at Cuatro Vientos, exhibitions and events at Casa de América, a business gathering at the Madrid Stock Exchange and celebrations with the Juan Sebastián de Elcano training ship, which will also mark its centenary.

Finnair to Offer Up to Three Daily Helsinki–Tokyo Flights in Summer 2027

Finnair will add services to Tokyo Narita during the peak 2027 summer season, increasing the route to up to twice daily. Its daily Helsinki–Tokyo Haneda service will continue, giving the airline up to three daily flights between Helsinki and Tokyo at peak times. The additional Narita service is scheduled from 12 May to 14 August 2027, with exceptions for the Helsinki departure on 13 May and the return flight on 14 May. Finnair expects its total Japan schedule to increase from 28 weekly flights in summer 2026 to up to 32 in summer 2027.

IATA to Hold World Passenger and Financial Symposium in Macao

The International Air Transport Association will hold the joint World Financial Symposium and World Passenger Symposium in Macao, China, on 28–29 October 2026. The event will run under the theme “From Vision to Value: The Next Era of Air Travel.” It will bring together leaders from airline retailing, finance and passenger experience.

Biman Orders 11 Additional Boeing Aircraft

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has ordered 11 Boeing aircraft, comprising five 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8 jets. The order forms part of the carrier’s fleet renewal and network expansion plans. It follows Biman’s purchase earlier this year of 14 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX aircraft, which was its largest-ever Boeing order.

Heart Aerospace Unveils 36-Seat Hybrid-Electric ES-36

Heart Aerospace has unveiled the ES-36, a 36-seat hybrid-electric regional aircraft. The announcement includes a deposit-backed agreement from US carrier JSX for 50 aircraft, with purchase rights for a further 50. The ES-36 is the production version of the previously announced ES-30. It features a simplified two-nacelle design and a series-hybrid propulsion system aimed at reducing operating and maintenance costs.

Honeywell and Garuda Indonesia Sign Three-Year APU Services Agreement

Honeywell Aerospace has signed a three-year agreement with Garuda Indonesia to provide repair and maintenance services for auxiliary power units across the airline’s fleet. The agreement covers Honeywell 131-9B, 331-350 and 331-500 APU models. It builds on the companies’ longstanding partnership. The arrangement is intended to provide Garuda Indonesia with greater repair cost predictability and defined service expectations, supporting maintenance planning over the three-year term.

Hurricane Polo Prompts Flight and Airspace Monitoring

Hurricane Polo intensified from a tropical storm to Category 5 in around 24 hours, reaching winds of about 165 mph while remaining offshore of Mexico. Airlines and air traffic authorities are monitoring routes and airport conditions, with possible effects including rerouting, delays, diversions and cancellations. Thunderstorms, turbulence, heavy rain and strong winds can affect operations well beyond the storm’s centre, while commercial aircraft generally avoid the most hazardous areas.

TUI Airline Plans 25 New Routes for Summer 2027

TUI Airline plans to operate 84,000 flights and offer 17 million seats in summer 2027, increasing capacity by 4.6 per cent from summer 2026. The programme includes 25 new routes and around 640,000 additional seats across the UK, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. It is the first schedule developed under a single commercial framework covering TUI tour operators, distribution partners and flight-only customers. Following a network review, TUI has adjusted capacity, frequencies or aircraft deployment on around one-third of its routes.

Edinburgh Airport Announces 500 Million Pounds Expansion Programme

Edinburgh Airport will invest more than 500 million pounds over the next five years in the largest capital programme in its history. The first phase includes new gates and aircraft stands, a larger check-in hall and departure lounge, upgraded international arrivals and baggage facilities, and expanded retail, food and beverage areas. The programme will increase the terminal footprint by 60 per cent as the airport prepares for future growth.

Qantas Launches Campaign with Robert Irwin

Qantas has launched a new campaign with Robert Irwin across North America, England and Asia from 16 September 2026. The campaign was filmed at Australia Zoo’s The Crocodile Hunter Lodge. It also highlights Qantas Explorer fares, which offer discounted domestic flights, and is being run jointly with Tourism Australia in several markets.

European Commission Proposes Revision of EU Emissions Trading System

The European Commission has proposed a targeted revision of the EU Emissions Trading System to support industrial competitiveness and the EU’s 2040 climate target. The proposal includes additional support for industrial decarbonisation through a new Industrial Decarbonisation Bank, an Investment Booster and continued funding through the Innovation Fund and Modernisation Fund. It also updates carbon market rules, free allocation and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, while strengthening incentives for investment in decarbonisation in Europe.

British Airways Expands St. Louis–London Heathrow Service

British Airways will increase its seasonal St. Louis–London Heathrow service to seven flights per week during parts of summer 2027. The expanded schedule represents an 80 per cent increase in seats compared with summer 2026, adding more than 35,400 seats. The route, launched on 19 April 2026 with four weekly flights, will increase to five weekly services from 28 March 2027 and daily flights from 19 April to 28 June and again from 6 September to 30 October. British Airways is the only UK airline operating nonstop between St. Louis and London, with the route served by Boeing 787 aircraft.

Ryanair Adds 19th Manchester-Based Aircraft for Winter 2026

Ryanair will add a 19th based aircraft at Manchester Airport for winter 2026, representing a stated investment of 1.9 billion US dollars and supporting more than 7,500 local jobs. The additional aircraft will provide more than 50,000 extra seats, representing a one per cent increase in capacity, and support a new route to Warsaw Modlin. Frequencies will also increase on 26 routes, including Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Madrid, Barcelona, Belfast, Venice, Porto, Prague and Krakow.

Shannon Airport Passes One Million Summer Passengers

More than one million passengers travelled through Shannon Airport between May and August 2026. Summer passenger traffic increased by 11.5per centt compared with the same period in 2025. The airport also added five new routes during 2026, connecting Shannon with Warsaw, Madrid, Rome, Poznań and Frankfurt.

Johan Lundgren Set to Become TUI Supervisory Board Chair

Former easyJet chief executive Johan Lundgren is set to become Chair of TUI Group’s Supervisory Board following the company’s Annual General Meeting in February 2027. Current chairman Dr Dieter Zetsche, 73, has informed the Supervisory Board that he will not seek re-election when his current term ends in February 2027.
