Air Nostrum Acquires Two Former CityJet CRJ1000s

Air Nostrum has added two former CityJet Mitsubishi CRJ1000 aircraft to its fleet as the Spanish regional carrier continues to evaluate its future fleet strategy. The aircraft are EI-HIA, MSN 19006, now registered EC-OTF, and EI-HID, MSN 19024, now registered EC-OTG. Both aircraft previously operated for Scandinavian Airlines under CityJet’s wet-lease agreement.

 

Emerald Airlines UK Transfers ATR72-600 to Emerald Airlines Ireland

Belfast City-based Emerald Airlines UK has transferred ATR72-212A(600) G-CMJN, msn 1339, named “St Caillín”, to sister company Emerald Airlines Ireland as EI-GZY. According to Flightradar24, the aircraft operated its last commercial service on 7 June as EIN3648/9 on the Birmingham sector. The following day, it positioned to Dublin as EAG71P.

 

Hainan Boosts Dublin-Beijing to Daily Service

Hainan Airlines will operate its Dublin-Beijing Capital International Airport service daily from 22 June. Dublin Airport announced the update on its company LinkedIn page, noting that the year-round route will offer daily flights this summer and strengthen long-haul connectivity between Ireland and China. The carrier operates 292-seat, two-class Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the route.

Nile Air Airbus A320-232 SU-BQO, c/n 5539, was delivered to Cairo on 18 June 2026. The aircraft was previously registered HA-LYG. The update records the aircraft’s delivery to Cairo and latest registration change.

 

SU-GCG Airbus A330-243(F) Ferried to Cairo

EgyptAir Airbus A330-243(F) SU-GCG, c/n 666, was ferried from Dresden to Cairo on 14 May 2026. The update records the aircraft’s ferry movement from Dresden to Cairo.

Value-First Travel Drives Package Holiday Comeback

The UK’s latest consumer spending figures show travel expenditure has fallen 5.8 percent year-on-year for a third consecutive month. Thomas Cook said the trend reflects adaptation rather than consumers abandoning holidays, with travellers becoming more financially cautious and seeking greater value. The company highlighted growing interest in “destination dupes”, flexibility, protection and clearer visibility on total holiday costs.

 

Uganda Airlines to Enter Freighter Market With Boeing 767-300BCF and 737-800BCF

Uganda Airlines could enter the freighter market with the addition of its first Boeing 767-300BCF and 737-800BCF aircraft. The two freighters form part of a USD 982 million, ten-aircraft agreement signed with Boeing at Uganda’s State House in Entebbe. 

 

US Airlines Set to Benefit From Lower Jet Fuel Prices

US airlines are expected to save billions of dollars on jet fuel costs after the US-Iran peace deal sent oil prices sharply lower. Brent crude was trading at USD 79.22 per barrel, while jet fuel spot prices fell to USD 2.85 per gallon from USD 4.88. The reduction in fuel costs could provide a significant financial benefit to US carriers.

 

United Airlines Accelerates Starlink Wi-Fi Rollout to Widebody Fleet

United Airlines has accelerated the rollout of Starlink Wi-Fi, with its first widebody transatlantic customer flight equipped with the technology. United flight 14 departed Newark for London on a Boeing 777-200, marking the start of installations on nearly 60 widebody aircraft this year. The airline expects to equip its full widebody fleet by next summer.

 

VC-25B Bridge Aircraft Arrives at Joint Base Andrews

The US Air Force’s VC-25B Bridge aircraft has arrived at the Presidential Airlift Group and will begin initial commissioning flights. The secure, modified executive platform has received its new red, white and blue livery and final government modifications. The aircraft will support presidential airlift continuity and relieve pressure on the ageing VC-25A fleet until the long-term Boeing VC-25B enters service.

 

Vietnam Airlines Receives EXIM Preliminary Commitment for Aircraft Financing

Vietnam Airlines has received a preliminary commitment from the Export-Import Bank of the United States for a guaranteed loan of up to USD 2.9 billion. The financing would support the acquisition of 50 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The commitment provides a foundation for Vietnam Airlines to advance financing arrangements with international lenders as part of its fleet modernisation and growth plans.

 

Vietnam Airlines Launches First Direct Vietnam-Netherlands Service

Vietnam Airlines has launched a new non-stop service between Hanoi and Amsterdam, establishing the first direct air connection between Vietnam and the Netherlands. The inaugural flight departed Hanoi on 16 June with nearly 300 passengers onboard an Airbus A350. The service arrived at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol after a journey of more than 12 hours.

Willis Lease Finance Corporation has closed the acquisition of three Airbus A330-300 aircraft that will be leased to China Airlines and EVA Air. CEO Austin C. Willis said demand for assets and aftermarket services remains strong as operators manage fleet growth, delivery delays and maintenance capacity constraints. The acquisition supports the continued expansion of the company’s portfolio.

 

Zaha Hadid Architects Reveals Bishoftu International Airport in Ethiopia

Zaha Hadid Architects has begun construction of Bishoftu International Airport in Ethiopia. The project, located 40 kilometres south of Addis Ababa, is being described as the largest aviation infrastructure project in Africa’s history. The airport is intended to become a global aviation hub for Africa.

SIRIUS Aviation Capital has published its Q1 2026 industry update, with a focus on new aircraft pricing and replacement cost trends. The lessor said its proprietary analysis indicates that replacement cost and age are key drivers of used aircraft values. The update also presents new analysis of revenues per seat for Airbus and Boeing, which SIRIUS said points to a significant increase in replacement costs since the late 2010s.

 

Southern Cross Flight Day to Mark Portmarnock Aviation Heritage

A special aviation heritage event, Southern Cross Flight Day: Portmarnock, Newfoundland and Beyond, is set to take place at Portmarnock on Sunday, 28 June. Organised by the Malahide Historical Society, the event will commemorate the historic 1930 departure of the Southern Cross aircraft from Portmarnock Beach to Newfoundland. US Airline Lobby Group Warns of Dublin Airport Slot Cut Risk

Airlines for America has warned of a “significant risk” of forced take-off and landing slot reductions at Dublin Airport, which could disrupt transatlantic travel. The group has asked the White House to wait until 20 July to see whether the Irish Government enacts legislation to remove the Dublin Airport passenger cap. Airlines for America has been pushing for US action against Irish carriers until the cap is removed.

 

IATA Calls for Urgent Action on Engine MRO Bottlenecks

IATA, in collaboration with Emerton, has released a new study examining bottlenecks in maintenance, repair and overhaul for latest-generation single-aisle aircraft engines. The study focuses on CFM LEAP engines and Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofan engines, highlighting engine durability issues, spare parts shortages, limited spare engine availability and constrained aftermarket access. IATA Director General Willie Walsh said urgent action is needed as these pressures disrupt airline operations and complicate maintenance planning.
