China Eastern Launches Direct Dublin–Shanghai Service
China Eastern Airlines has commenced a new three-times-weekly non-stop service between Dublin and Shanghai, giving Ireland its first direct connection to China’s largest city. The route is operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, with the inaugural inbound flight CES/MU231 flown by B-32FQ, an Airbus A350-941, msn 624. The new service strengthens direct connectivity between Ireland and one of Asia’s leading economic and cultural centres.
TUI Adds Cork–Palma Service for Summer 2027
TUI will operate a new weekly service from Cork Airport to Palma Airport every Tuesday from 18 May to 31 August 2027. The route will use 189-seat Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and will support TUI’s Marella Cruises offering for Irish holidaymakers. The service will provide travellers from the South of Ireland with access to Mediterranean cruise itineraries departing from Palma.
Dublin Aerospace Receives Former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo
Dublin Aerospace has welcomed a former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo to its Dublin hangar for base maintenance. The work will prepare the aircraft for its next operator, supporting its transition into service with another airline.

DHL Air Austria Boeing 767-304ER(BDSF) OE-LYC, c/n 29137, arrived at Shannon on 27 June 2026 for maintenance with Atlantic Aviation Group. The aircraft departed Shannon on 29 July 2026 following completion of the maintenance visit.
OY-SRM Boeing 767-25E(F) Completes Shannon Maintenance Visit
Maersk Air Cargo/Star Air Boeing 767-25E(F) OY-SRM, c/n 27192, arrived at Shannon on 27 June 2026 for maintenance with Atlantic Aviation Group. The aircraft departed Shannon on 1 August 2026 following completion of the maintenance visit.

Gulfstream Reports Increased Second-Quarter Aircraft Deliveries and Revenue
Gulfstream Aerospace delivered 41 business jets during the second quarter of 2026, compared with 38 aircraft during the same period a year earlier. The total comprised 35 large-cabin aircraft and six mid-cabin aircraft. For the first six months of 2026, Gulfstream delivered 79 aircraft, up from 74 during the first half of 2025.
National Airlines Adds Third Boeing 777 Freighter in Four Months
National Airlines’ third Boeing 777-200F in four months, registered N795CA, entered commercial service on 30 July by operating a charter flight to the Middle East. The Florida-based airline ordered four newbuild 777-200Fs in 2024 and was presented with its first 777F in April during a special delivery event at a Boeing factory in Seattle, United States.
ANA Holdings Orders Eight Additional Embraer E190-E2 Regional Jets
ANA Holdings has approved the purchase of eight additional Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, expanding its previous order for the next-generation regional jet. The acquisition forms part of the group’s continued effort to strengthen Japan’s domestic aviation network. It builds on ANA’s 2025 commitment for 20 E190-E2s, comprising 15 firm orders and five options, and will support the expansion of its Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance agreement for ANA-operated flights.
Bell Delivers 36 Commercial Helicopters During the Second Quarter
Bell delivered 36 commercial helicopters during the second quarter, up from 32 during the same period last year, while revenue increased by 6% to US$1.1 billion. Segment profit declined by 6% to US$75 million. Parent company Textron applied what chief executive Lisa Atherton described as a conservative booking rate to the United States Army’s MV-75 Cheyenne tiltrotor programme while awaiting a congressional decision on US$350 million in redirected funding.
Western Sydney International Begins Regular Commercial Freighter Operations
Dedicated freighter operations commenced this week at the new 24-hour cargo precinct at Western Sydney International Airport. The first freighters, operated by carriers including Texel Air Australasia, Qantas, ASL Airlines Australia and Airwork, began arriving and departing in regular commercial service on 27 July. The operations are being conducted at Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, also known as WSI.
Schiphol Commits €801 Million to Airport Infrastructure and Service Improvements
Schiphol delivered a solid financial performance during the first six months of 2026, alongside an increase in quieter aircraft and a major €801 million investment programme for airport infrastructure and service improvements. Despite geopolitical uncertainty, demand for aviation and international connectivity remained strong across Royal Schiphol Group’s airports during the period.
GE Aerospace and Turkish Technic Expand Aircraft-Electronics MRO Cooperation
GE Aerospace and Turkish Technic have signed an agreement to expand aircraft-electronics maintenance, repair and overhaul capability in Türkiye. The update was originally published on the GE Aerospace and CFM news pages. GE Aerospace also reported that a milestone had been reached for the GEnx-1B, LEAP-1B durability upgrades had been certified, and the CFM RISE programme’s Open Fan had advanced towards a flight-test demonstration.
Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen3 Completes Maiden Flight
Textron Aviation has completed the maiden flight of the Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen3 prototype, marking a key milestone as the next-generation light jet advances towards FAA certification. The nearly two-hour flight departed from Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport. Test pilots Steve Helmer and Dave Welbrock evaluated cockpit software functionality as the aircraft reached 41,000 feet and a maximum indicated airspeed of 278 knots. The flight met initial performance expectations.
LATAM Unveils Cabin Configuration for Incoming Embraer E195-E2 Fleet
LATAM unveiled the cabin details of its new Embraer E195-E2 fleet in São José dos Campos. LATAM Airlines Brazil will begin operating the new cabin during the fourth quarter of 2026. The aircraft are intended to provide passengers with a comfortable, connected and personalised travel experience through a modern cabin design. LATAM has ordered 24 aircraft.
European Institutions Agree Reforms to Airline Passenger-Rights Regulations
The European Parliament and European Council reached a provisional agreement on Monday to reform the European Union’s air passenger-rights regulations following years of debate. The European Council, representing the EU’s 27 member states, had previously disagreed with Parliament over proposed changes to EU261. The rules govern compensation for passengers affected by airline delays and cancellations and have remained unchanged since their adoption in 2004.
Gulf Airlines Rebuild Schedules Following Extensive Middle East Airspace Disruption
Gulf airlines are rebuilding their schedules following extensive disruption to Middle Eastern airspace. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has extended its Conflict Zone Information Bulletin, advising operators to avoid certain areas until 31 August, with the latest revision confirming the need for continued vigilance following earlier military activity in the region. IATA estimates that 46 percent of Gulf flights have been removed from the world’s inventory since the war began. None of the major airlines has returned to full capacity.
American Airlines Launches Aviation-Maintenance Workforce Partnership
American Airlines has launched a new partnership with the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics to provide students with exposure to aviation-maintenance careers and a direct career pathway at the airline. American will give students opportunities to engage with its maintenance personnel and participate in hands-on tours of its maintenance facilities. Top-performing students will receive guaranteed interviews after graduation and completion of FAA airframe and powerplant certification.

AerCap Raises 2026 Guidance Following Strong Second-Quarter Results
Dublin-based AerCap reported second-quarter 2026 net income of US$726 million, equivalent to US$4.59 per share. Adjusted net income reached US$811 million, or US$5.14 per share. The aviation leasing company raised its full-year adjusted earnings-per-share guidance to approximately US$16.80, excluding any additional gains on aircraft sales during the remainder of the year.
Avolon Reports 45% Increase in Second-Quarter Net Income
Dublin-based Avolon reported second-quarter net income of 209 million dollars, an increase of 45% from the same period last year. Lease revenue also increased to 726 million dollars, supported by stronger operating cash flow. Over the latest 12-month period, the company generated net income of 702 million dollars and operating cash flow of 2.4 billion dollars.
Ryanair Proposes €50 Million Shannon MRO Expansion
Ryanair has submitted a planning application for a €50 million expansion of its engineering operations at Shannon Airport. The proposed development includes a new four-bay aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul hangar and an engineering academy. The investment is expected to create more than 400 highly skilled jobs and would make Shannon Ryanair’s largest aircraft maintenance facility in Ireland.

Shannon Airport Records 12% Passenger Growth in First Half of 2026
Shannon Airport handled 1.17 million passengers during the first half of 2026, representing a 12% increase compared with the same period last year. Growth was driven by an expanded route network, increased capacity and sustained travel demand. The airport also recorded its busiest day in 17 years on Sunday, 28 June, when 11,400 passengers travelled through the terminal, 22% more than on its busiest day last year.
SMBC Aviation Capital Places Ten Boeing 737-8 MAX Aircraft with Vietnam Airlines
Dublin-based SMBC Aviation Capital has placed ten Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft with Vietnam Airlines, with deliveries scheduled for 2028. The aircraft will come from SMBC Aviation Capital’s existing Boeing order book. The agreement supports Vietnam Airlines’ plans to modernise its narrowbody fleet while expanding its domestic and regional network.
CDB Aviation Delivers Four Airbus A320neos to Marabu Airlines
CDB Leasing’s Irish subsidiary, CDB Aviation, has completed the delivery of four Airbus A320-271N aircraft to Estonia-based leisure carrier Marabu Airlines. The agreement for the PW1127GA-JM-powered aircraft was signed in November last year. Marabu now operates a total fleet of 12 Airbus A320neo aircraft.
New York Weather and Air-Traffic Restrictions Disrupt Dublin Services
Severe thunderstorms across New York caused hundreds of flight cancellations at Newark, John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports. Five Dublin services were cancelled, including two Aer Lingus flights and one United Airlines service. The FAA imposed ground stops between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm local time.
Rush Air Display Temporary Restricted Area Published for 2 August
The Irish Aviation Authority has published a Temporary Restricted Area for the vicinity of Rush, County Dublin, to facilitate the Rush Air Display on Sunday, 2 August 2026. The restriction will operate between 1000 UTC and 1700 UTC. Pilots operating along Ireland’s east coast during this period should be aware of the temporary airspace restrictions.
Girls in Aviation Day 2026 Announced at Shannon Aviation Museum
Women in Aviation’s Ireland Chapter, together with Stellaer 212 and ASG, will participate in the 12th annual Girls in Aviation Day on 19 September 2026. The event will be hosted by Shannon Aviation Museum alongside Women in Aviation International chapters worldwide. Activities will include a museum tour and specialised sessions involving professional, general aviation and drone pilots, air traffic controllers, aircraft engineers, aeronautical engineers and cabin crew.

At the same time, airspace disruption, weather events and regulatory change are adding operational complexity across global networks.
The overall market remains growth-oriented, but disciplined financing, operational flexibility and long-term infrastructure planning will remain central to sustaining that momentum.
