China Eastern Launches Direct Dublin–Shanghai Service
China Eastern Airlines has commenced a new three-times-weekly non-stop service between Dublin and Shanghai, giving Ireland its first direct connection to China’s largest city. The route is operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, with the inaugural inbound flight CES/MU231 flown by B-32FQ, an Airbus A350-941, msn 624. The new service strengthens direct connectivity between Ireland and one of Asia’s leading economic and cultural centres.
TUI Adds Cork–Palma Service for Summer 2027
TUI will operate a new weekly service from Cork Airport to Palma Airport every Tuesday from 18 May to 31 August 2027. The route will use 189-seat Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and will support TUI’s Marella Cruises offering for Irish holidaymakers. The service will provide travellers from the South of Ireland with access to Mediterranean cruise itineraries departing from Palma.
Dublin Aerospace Receives Former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo
Dublin Aerospace has welcomed a former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo to its Dublin hangar for base maintenance. The work will prepare the aircraft for its next operator, supporting its transition into service with another airline.

Former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320-271N N960NK, c/n 11002, was ferried from Phoenix to Shannon via Bangor for maintenance with Atlantic Aviation Group. The aircraft was subsequently registered as OE-IEC for EirTrade Aviation ahead of placement with Condor, as part of a maintenance and lease transition.

FAA Certifies Boeing 737-7 After Extended Approval Programme
The US Federal Aviation Administration has certified the Boeing 737-7, granting an amended type certificate that clears the smallest member of the 737 MAX family for commercial service after nearly a decade of regulatory review. The FAA also updated Boeing’s Production Certificate and Production Limitation Record, allowing the manufacturer to begin production and prepare for initial deliveries. Launch customer Southwest Airlines is expected to receive the first aircraft.
Itochu Agrees to Acquire 50 Percent of Aviation Capital Group
Japanese trading house Itochu has agreed to acquire a 50 percent stake in US aircraft lessor Aviation Capital Group from Tokyo Century for approximately 1.946 billion dollars. The transaction will expand Itochu’s aviation operations as the company anticipates continued growth in the aircraft leasing market.
Russia’s First Production-Standard MC-21-310 Completes Maiden Flight
Russia’s first production-standard MC-21-310 aircraft completed its maiden flight from United Aircraft Corporation’s facility in Irkutsk, Siberia, on 3 August 2026. The aircraft remained airborne for one hour and 23 minutes, reaching a speed of 600 kilometres per hour and an altitude of 6,000 metres.
First UK-Built Britten-Norman Islander in Almost 60 Years Rolls Out at Bembridge
The first Britten-Norman Islander to be fully manufactured in the United Kingdom in almost six decades has rolled out of the company’s production facility at Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. Aircraft 2317 had electrical power applied for the first time before being moved onto the apron following the installation of its engines, propellers, cowlings, electrical systems, brakes and flight controls.
Network Aviation Adds Fifth Boeing 747 Freighter
Network Aviation Management added a Boeing 747-400 converted freighter to its fleet at the end of July, with the aircraft operating from the company’s primary hub at Liège Airport. The addition brings its fleet to five Boeing 747-400 freighters, all operated by Air Atlanta. The aircraft has already conducted flights to Sharjah, Liège, Lagos, Accra, Entebbe and Nairobi, supporting the company’s commitment to providing robust and reliable capacity to the global air cargo market.
Awesome Cargo Completes First In-House Airbus A330P2F C-Check
Mexico-based Awesome Cargo has completed a C-check on one of its own aircraft at its MRO facility for the first time. The 2011-vintage Airbus A330-200P2F, aircraft 1252, returned to service on 1 August, operating from Mexico City to Zhengzhou via Los Angeles, Anchorage and Seoul.
Airbus Reports Higher First-Half Revenue, Profit and Aircraft Deliveries
Airbus delivered 351 commercial aircraft during the first half of 2026 and reported revenue of €33.2 billion. Adjusted EBIT and reported EBIT both reached €2.7 billion, while reported earnings per share stood at €2.84. Free cash flow before customer financing was negative €1.2 billion, with the company maintaining its existing guidance for 2026.
Somon Air Receives Tajikistan’s First Boeing 737-8
Somon Air has received its first Boeing 737-8, marking the first delivery of a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to Tajikistan. Boeing and the Tajik carrier announced the delivery in Dushanbe on 3 August 2026. The aircraft is the first of two 737-8s being leased from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise and will support Somon Air’s fleet modernisation and network expansion plans.

An Aer Lingus Airbus A320 carrying 146 people experienced a 44-degree bank and climbed to 4,200 feet instead of its cleared altitude of 3,500 feet during an abandoned approach at Dublin Airport. The AAIU found that the captain likely became task-saturated and experienced a startle moment, while the crew subsequently recovered the aircraft and landed safely. Aer Lingus has since banned orbit manoeuvres during approaches, and the AAIU issued no further recommendations following the airline’s safety updates.
