United to Launch A321XLR Washington Dulles–Dublin Service from December
United Airlines will introduce its Airbus A321XLR on international services from Washington Dulles to Dublin and Amsterdam from 1–2 December, marking the aircraft’s entry into international service. The Dublin launch forms part of United’s largest-ever international network expansion, which will add 10 new international cities and three additional routes across Europe and Asia in summer 2027. Dublin Airport said the deployment reflects sustained transatlantic demand and will support greater connectivity between Ireland and North America.
ASL Aviation Holdings Adds Two Boeing 747-400ERFs Through Acquisitions
Dublin-based ASL Aviation Holdings has acquired two Boeing 747-400ERF freighters that were previously operated within the group under operating lease. The aircraft, MSN 33516 (OE-IFB) and MSN 33945 (OE-IFD), are operated by ASL Airlines Belgium and form part of the group’s long-haul freighter fleet. The acquisitions expand ASL’s owned aircraft portfolio as the group continues developing its international air cargo platform.
Dublin Aerospace Extends Honeywell APU Maintenance Partnership
Dublin Aerospace has extended its Honeywell Aerospace Channel Partner Agreement covering maintenance of 131-9A and 131-9B APUs. The agreement allows Dublin Aerospace to continue providing Honeywell-approved overhaul, repair, modification and testing services for both APU types. The extension continues the longstanding maintenance partnership between Dublin Aerospace and Honeywell.

Philippine Airlines Airbus A350-1041 RP-C3513 Delivered to Manila
Philippine Airlines Airbus A350-1041 RP-C3513, c/n 792, ex F-WZHC, was delivered from Toulouse to Manila on 2 September. The aircraft is the carrier’s fourth A350-1000 and forms part of its nine-aircraft order for long-haul fleet expansion.
United Airlines Boeing 787-9 N61111 Delivered to Washington Dulles
United Airlines Boeing 787-9 N61111, c/n 68657, was delivered from Everett to Washington Dulles on 1 September. The aircraft joins United’s expanding Dreamliner fleet and was ferried to IAD on delivery after completing pre-delivery activity in Washington State.

AirAsia and Pegasus Launch Codeshare Linking Asia and Europe
AirAsia has launched its first codeshare partnership with Pegasus Airlines, creating new connections between Southeast Asia and Europe through Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The initial phase covers journeys from Kuala Lumpur to London Stansted, Moscow Vnukovo, Ankara, Zurich and Athens via Istanbul. The partnership is expected to expand progressively to more than 100 connecting routes across the airlines’ combined networks. Passengers can book the connecting flights as a single journey, with baggage transferred directly to the final destination without collection and rechecking in Istanbul.
LOT to Acquire Two Boeing 787-9s from Virgin Atlantic in 2027
LOT Polish Airlines will add two used Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners from Virgin Atlantic during the first half of 2027, expanding its long-haul fleet ahead of the summer peak. The airline expects its widebody fleet to reach 19 aircraft for the 2027 high season. LOT currently operates eight Boeing 787-8s and seven 787-9s, while two additional Dreamliners sourced from Thai Airways are due to arrive before the end of 2026. The two former Virgin Atlantic aircraft will follow in 2027.
American Airlines Unveils Premium-Heavy Boeing 777-300ER Cabin
American Airlines has introduced its first retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER, replacing international First Class with an enlarged Flagship Suite Business cabin. The redesigned aircraft features 70 Flagship Suite seats with privacy doors, additional storage and a chaise-lounge position. It also includes 44 Premium Economy seats and 30 Main Cabin Extra seats, taking the total number of premium or extra-legroom seats to 144. According to American, this is more than on any aircraft operated by a US airline.
Luxair Receives First Two Owned Boeing 737-8 Aircraft
Luxair has taken delivery of its first two owned Boeing 737-8 aircraft at Luxembourg Airport as part of a fleet-renewal programme valued at more than 1 billion euro. The programme will eventually comprise nine Embraer aircraft and 12 Boeing jets, with options for two additional Boeing aircraft. By the mid-2030s, Luxair could operate up to 14 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The programme is also expected to replace all aircraft currently in the airline’s fleet.
FLY91 Orders 40 ATR 72-600s in 1 Billion Dollar Fleet Expansion
Indian regional carrier FLY91 has placed a firm order for 40 ATR 72-600 aircraft valued at approximately 1 billion dollars, with deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2032. ATR described the agreement as its largest firm order in almost a decade and the biggest ever placed by a regional airline. The order raises ATR’s 2026 intake to 54 aircraft, already exceeding the manufacturer’s net orders for the whole of 2025.
JCB Aero Secures Part 145 Approval for Boeing Aircraft
JCB Aero, part of the AMAC Aerospace Group, has expanded its MRO capabilities after securing a new Part 145 approval covering Boeing aircraft. Based in Auch, near Toulouse, France, the company began MRO operations in October 2024 and has since completed numerous maintenance projects on Airbus aircraft. The new approval enables JCB Aero to extend its services to Boeing operators, covering Base and Line Maintenance on Boeing 737-600, 737-700, 737-800 and 737-900 aircraft.
AnimaWings Selects SAMCO for Airbus A220 Base Maintenance
AnimaWings has selected SAMCO Aircraft Maintenance as the base maintenance provider for its Airbus A220 fleet. The newly signed agreement expands the existing relationship between the two companies and builds on the cooperation and support already established between them. The arrangement provides continued maintenance support for the operation of AnimaWings’ A220 aircraft.
euroAtlantic Airways Adds Airbus A330-300 from Jackson Square Aviation
euroAtlantic Airways has added an Airbus A330-300 leased from Jackson Square Aviation to its fleet, expanding its long-haul widebody capability and supporting its ACMI and charter operations. The 15-year-old aircraft accommodates 290 passengers in a three-class configuration comprising Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy. It features lie-flat Business Class seats and personal in-seat entertainment screens throughout the cabin.
Beyond Aero and French Airports Plan Hydrogen Refuelling Infrastructure
Beyond Aero is expanding efforts to develop a market for its hydrogen-electric business jet through a partnership with airports in southern France. The Toulouse-based start-up and Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur are jointly developing plans for gaseous hydrogen refuelling facilities. The initiative is focused on airports they see as potential early adopters of hydrogen technology in popular private aviation locations along France’s Mediterranean coast.
JAL Group Eyes Further Development of Jetstar Japan and Zipair
Japan Airlines Group is using a multi-pronged strategy to participate in Japan’s growing low-cost carrier market, with an ownership restructuring of its primary LCC indicating further development. The analysis examines JAL Group’s LCC portfolio, including Jetstar Japan and Zipair, with ownership changes and an upcoming rebranding planned for Jetstar Japan. North American Airlines End Air-to-Ground Inflight Connectivity
May 2026 marked the end of air-to-ground inflight connectivity on North American commercial airlines. At its peak in 2017, ATG technology connected more than 2,000 passenger aircraft across the region. Aircell, which later became associated with Gogo, Intelsat and SES, introduced the technology in 2008. Its widespread adoption by North American airlines helped establish inflight connectivity as an increasingly integral part of the passenger flying experience globally.

Dublin Airport’s Share of Irish Passenger Traffic Declines Slightly in First Half of 2026
Dublin Airport handled 68.91 percent of passenger traffic on and off the island of Ireland in the first half of 2026, slightly below 69 percent previously. Shannon and both Belfast airports gained a small share, while Cork declined. Across eight Irish airports, 25.1 million passengers travelled during the period, 5 percent more than in 2025 and 16 percent above pre-pandemic levels. England remained the largest market at 25.6 percent, followed by Spain at 16.3 percent and the United States at 10.8 percent.
IATA Outlines EU Regulatory and Competitiveness Priorities
IATA has outlined a series of priorities for the European Union, including full implementation of CORSIA and greater support for sustainable aviation fuel infrastructure. The association said regulatory costs could rise to 33 billion euro by 2050 and raised concerns over the performance of the Entry/Exit System and its potential impact on missed flights.
SWISS Plans New Zurich Airport Business and Senator Lounges for 2027
SWISS has announced plans to open new Business and Senator lounges at Zurich Airport in 2027. The facilities will cover approximately 2,600 square metres, providing around 20 per cent more space than the airline’s existing lounges. Features are expected to include soundproofed workstations, a wine humidor and a cheese maturation room. The development comes as Zurich Airport prepares to replace Dock A with a new terminal building.
Dublin Airport Passenger Cap Process Continues Following 2026 Capacity Act
The Dublin Airport passenger capacity process remains under way following enactment of the Dublin Airport (Passenger Capacity) Act 2026. DAA has requested that the annual passenger limit be increased from 32 million to 40 million. An Coimisiún Pleanála must complete environmental assessments and a public consultation before an order can be signed, with the process potentially taking up to 28 weeks. Ryanair has cited elevated jet fuel prices as it reduces winter flying, with Ask Traders reporting that jet fuel has been trading at almost 140 dollars per barrel. La Caisse and SMBC Aviation Capital are doubling the investment capacity of their Maple Aircraft Company Holdings joint venture to 3 billion dollars. The expansion follows deployment of the platform’s original 1.5 billion dollar commitment ahead of schedule. Established in 2024, MACH provides financing for new-technology aircraft leased to airlines and has assembled a portfolio of 21 aircraft placed with 13 carriers across 10 markets during its first two years.

Aer Lingus Regional has launched discounted fares from Belfast City Airport across its UK network as part of the wider Aer Lingus Sale. The promotion runs until 17 September, with discounted travel available between 15 September 2026 and 19 March 2027. Aer Lingus Regional currently connects Belfast City Airport with destinations across Great Britain, serving both business and leisure passengers.
easyJet and easyJet Holidays Launch Big Orange Sale
easyJet and easyJet holidays have launched their Big Orange Sale, offering discounted flights across the airline’s network. Around 780,000 seats to and from the UK are available for travel between 14 September 2026 and 18 March 2027, covering 139 destinations across Europe and beyond. The travel period includes October half-term, Christmas market trips and New Year travel.
Report Raises Climate Concerns Over Heathrow Expansion
New modelling from the University of Manchester’s Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research suggests that a third runway at Heathrow could contribute to the UK exceeding its legally binding climate targets. The research, commissioned by Friends of the Earth, states that the UK aviation sector is already forecast to exceed limits set under the seventh carbon budget.
