China Eastern Launches Direct Dublin–Shanghai Service
China Eastern Airlines has commenced a new three-times-weekly non-stop service between Dublin and Shanghai, giving Ireland its first direct connection to China’s largest city. The route is operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, with the inaugural inbound flight CES/MU231 flown by B-32FQ, an Airbus A350-941, msn 624. The new service strengthens direct connectivity between Ireland and one of Asia’s leading economic and cultural centres.
TUI Adds Cork–Palma Service for Summer 2027
TUI will operate a new weekly service from Cork Airport to Palma Airport every Tuesday from 18 May to 31 August 2027. The route will use 189-seat Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and will support TUI’s Marella Cruises offering for Irish holidaymakers. The service will provide travellers from the South of Ireland with access to Mediterranean cruise itineraries departing from Palma.
Dublin Aerospace Receives Former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo
Dublin Aerospace has welcomed a former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo to its Dublin hangar for base maintenance. The work will prepare the aircraft for its next operator, supporting its transition into service with another airline.

DHL Aero Expreso Boeing 767-316ER(BCF) HP-3810DAE, c/n 41994, was ferried from Miami to Shannon on 11 July 2026 for maintenance with Atlantic Aviation Group.
N464KH Boeing 737-48E(F) Ferried to Shannon
VX Capital Partners/Aloha Air Cargo Boeing 737-48E(F) N464KH, c/n 28798, formerly registered as 2-RAJZ, was ferried from Varna to Shannon. The aircraft received an all-white finish at International Aerospace Coatings and was re-registered on 9 July 2026 as part of a paint and lease transition.

London Gatwick Airport’s £2.2 billion plan to bring its northern runway into routine use is set to proceed. The Court of Appeal refused campaigners permission to appeal an earlier ruling that upheld the airport’s expansion plans.
VietJet Expands Philippines Network with Two New Cebu Routes
VietJet plans to launch two new routes to Cebu in November as demand between Vietnam and the Philippines continues to grow. Three-times-weekly services from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will begin on 10 November, with both routes operated using Airbus A321 aircraft. The airline had previously indicated that the Ho Chi Minh City–Cebu service would begin in December with five weekly return flights.
Lufthansa Technik Reports Double-Digit First-Half Revenue Growth
Lufthansa Technik reported double-digit revenue growth during the first half of 2026. Growth in third-party customer business helped the company offset supply chain disruption, currency headwinds and increasing volatility in MRO shop-visit schedules.
CFM Marks Ten Years of LEAP Service Amid Major Production Ramp-Up
CFM International is marking ten years since the LEAP-1A engine entered commercial service. The programme’s first commercial flight took place in August 2016, when a Pegasus Airlines Airbus A320neo departed Istanbul for Antalya at 9:30 am. The service represented a milestone for Pegasus Airlines, Airbus and the GE Aerospace-Safran engine joint venture, as CFM now undertakes a major production ramp-up.
Lufthansa Revises 2026 Profit Outlook and Plans Further Widebody Retirements
Lufthansa has warned that its operating profit could decline in 2026 after more than halving during the second quarter, partly due to higher fuel costs. The group now expects adjusted earnings before interest and tax of between 1.7 billion euros and 2.2 billion euros. Its previous forecast had indicated a result well above the 1.96 billion euros recorded last year.
IAG Cuts 2026 Capacity Growth to Protect Margins
International Airlines Group will keep capacity flat in 2026, replacing its earlier target of less than 3 per cent growth. Chief Executive Luis Gallego confirmed the change on 31 July, citing Middle East cancellations, higher fuel costs and pressure on margins. First-half operating profit fell by 120 million euros to 1.75 billion euros, while Aer Lingus faces rivals increasing capacity by 40 to 50 per cent; the group is cutting costs and targeting a 15 per cent operating margin.
IATA Reports 8.5 Per Cent Increase in June Global Air-Cargo Demand
Global air-cargo demand increased by 8.5 per cent in June 2026 compared with June 2025, while demand on international routes increased by 9.6 per cent. Over the same period, overall cargo capacity increased by 4.4 per cent, with international capacity increasing by 4.9 per cent. Demand therefore grew at a faster rate than available capacity during the month.
Lufthansa Cargo Reports Sharp Second-Quarter Revenue and Profit Growth
Lufthansa’s logistics division generated 1 billion euros in second-quarter revenue, an increase of 27 per cent from the same period last year. Earnings before interest and tax increased by 58 per cent to 116 million euros. Cargo traffic recorded a smaller increase of 3 per cent, reaching 2.4 billion revenue cargo tonne-kilometres. The division includes Lufthansa Cargo, time:matters, Jettainer, HeyWorld and a 50 per cent stake in AeroLogic.
Oman Air Cargo Targets Perishables Growth Through Expanded Belly Capacity
Oman Air Cargo is expanding its belly-hold capacity through new services from Muscat to Singapore and Tashkent, alongside routes to Sochi and Abu Dhabi and a new connection between Salalah and Dubai. The flights are being operated using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and will target time-sensitive, high-value and perishable shipments.
Airbus Prepares A350 Freighter for Flight-Vibration Testing
Airbus is preparing to conduct flight-vibration testing on the A350 freighter during the first three months of its flight-test campaign. The tests will take the aircraft to its maximum dive speed and Mach limits, representing the final stages before the A350F can be cleared for entry into service. The first A350F has already completed a series of rigorous development and certification tests.
Archer Midnight Completes First Piloted Airport-to-Airport Round Trip
Archer Aviation’s Midnight aircraft completed its first piloted round-trip flight between two airports in California on 30 July 2026. The flight marks a step towards the electric air-taxi operations Archer plans to launch under the US government’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program later in 2026.
HondaJet Elite II Receives Brazilian Type Validation
The HondaJet Elite II has received type validation from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency. Honda Aircraft has also delivered the first aircraft of the latest very light jet model to a customer in the country. An Elite II is on display at LABACE 2026 through HondaJet-authorised sales representative Lider Aviação at São Paulo Campo de Marte Airport.

ASL Airlines Ireland Moves Amazon Prime Air Operations from Milan to Brescia
Dublin-based contract air transport provider ASL Airlines Ireland is moving its Amazon Prime Air operations from Milan to Brescia Montichiari Airport. The shift aligns with Amazon’s strategy to optimise its logistics network by concentrating operations at Brescia. The decision has triggered union protests at Milan Malpensa over potential job losses.
Ryanair Carries Seven Million Passengers Through Belfast International Airport
Ryanair has carried more than seven million passengers through Belfast International Airport since beginning operations there a decade ago. During the current summer season, the airline is operating 166 weekly flights across 15 routes, including services to Alicante, Lanzarote, Malta, Krakow, Milan and Porto. To mark the milestone, Ryanair launched a limited-time seat sale with fares available from 29.99 pounds through its app.
Ryanair Adds Extra Dublin Flights for Premier League Fixtures
Ryanair has added extra services between Dublin and Liverpool and Manchester, providing 3,000 additional seats for upcoming Premier League fixtures. The Liverpool flights will support matches at Anfield on 29 August and 12 September, while the Manchester services will cover fixtures at Old Trafford on 30 August and 13 September. The additional flights are available to book through the Ryanair app.
Ryanair and AWS Extend Technology Partnership for Five Years
Ryanair and Amazon Web Services have extended their technology partnership for another five years. The airline will continue using AWS cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies, including Amazon Quick, Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, across its operations. These systems support Ryanair’s website, scheduling across a fleet of 647 aircraft and 3,900 daily flights, digital pilot workflows, operational efficiency and employee applications. The companies also plan to expand their use of advanced technologies, including agentic AI.
Shannon Records Strongest June Passenger Growth Among Ireland’s Major Airports
Shannon Airport recorded the strongest year-on-year passenger growth among Ireland’s major airports in June. Figures published by the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation show that passenger traffic increased by 14 per cent compared with the same month last year.
Dublin Selected to Host EASA’s Flagship Aviation-Safety Conference
Dublin will host the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s Annual Safety Conference 2026 on 18 and 19 November. The event will take place at the InterContinental Hotel in Ballsbridge and will be organised in cooperation with the Irish Aviation Authority. Ireland’s EU Presidency Could Strengthen the Case for Regional Aviation
Aviation is expected to feature prominently as Ireland prepares to assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. In an interview with the European Regions Airline Association, Emerald Airlines Chief Executive Keith Butler highlighted Ireland’s position as an aviation-dependent island nation and a global aircraft-leasing centre. He said the Presidency provides an opportunity to support balanced policies covering regional connectivity, airline competitiveness and sustainable growth across Europe.
Aer Lingus Dublin–Newark Services Disrupted by Northeast US Storms
Aer Lingus services between Dublin and Newark were affected as severe weather continued to disrupt the northeastern United States on 4 August 2026. More than 1,350 flights were delayed and 181 cancelled across US airports, with disruption worsened by ongoing air traffic control shortages. A slow-moving low-pressure system and severe thunderstorms led the FAA to introduce Ground Delay Programmes and caused multi-hour delays at major airports across the region.
IndiGo Suspends Heathrow Operations Following End of Norse Atlantic Damp Leases
IndiGo will suspend all London Heathrow services from 25 October 2026 as it ends its damp-lease agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways. Geopolitical tensions and rising fuel costs made the arrangement unviable. The airline will continue operating its Mumbai–Amsterdam service using an Airbus A321XLR and expects to resume Heathrow operations with its own Airbus A350-900 aircraft in 2027.
Lufthansa Group Passenger Traffic Falls 2.8 Per Cent in June
Lufthansa Group carried 12.56 million passengers in June 2026, 2.8 per cent fewer than a year earlier and 7 per cent below pre-pandemic levels. Passenger numbers reached 134.3 million over the latest 12 months, an increase of 1.47 per cent, while the first-half total fell by 1.1 per cent to 60.7 million. Strikes by the Vereinigung Cockpit and UFO unions contributed to an 8.2 per cent decline in April traffic and an 11 per cent fall at Frankfurt Airport.
