British Airways Operates One-Time Dublin Boeing 787-9 Service

British Airways operated a one-time four-class, 216-seat Boeing 787-9 service from London Heathrow to Dublin on Monday, 22 June, operating BAW830/1 and arriving at 14:21 before departing at 16:12 instead of Airbus A320ceo/neo aircraft. The service was operated by G-ZBKB, MSN 38617, leased from Dublin-based SMBC Aviation Capital, making the movement notable for both the widebody substitution on the Dublin sector and its leasing connection.

 

flydubai Takes Delivery of 69th Boeing 737 MAX via Shannon

Dubai-based low-cost carrier flydubai has taken delivery of Boeing 737 MAX A6-FPJ, MSN 60988, between 5 and 7 June 2026, routing from Boeing Field in Seattle via Shannon Airport before arriving at Dubai International Airport (DXB). The delivery marks flydubai’s 69th Boeing 737 MAX and highlights Shannon’s continued role as a routing point for aircraft delivery movements.

 

SAS Connect Expands Fleet with Additional A320neo

Dublin-based SAS Connect, a wholly owned subsidiary of the SAS Group, has expanded its fleet to 34 aircraft following the transfer of Airbus A320-251N SE-RZD, c/n 12110, named Disa Viking, from sister carrier SAS Airlines. The aircraft was transferred within the SAS Group and re-registered as EI-SCI on 29 May at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, with the update recording SAS Connect’s continued fleet expansion through an intra-group aircraft transfer.

SMBC Aviation Capital Airbus A320-271N OE-IED, c/n 11003, was registered at Dublin on 16 June 2026. The aircraft was previously registered N961NK.

BOC Aviation Signs Lease Agreement With STARLUX Airlines for Eight Airbus A321neo Aircraft 

BOC Aviation has placed eight Airbus A321neo aircraft from its orderbook with STARLUX Airlines. All aircraft will be powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines and are scheduled for delivery starting in 2028. The agreement confirms a future lease placement between BOC Aviation and STARLUX Airlines for the A321neo aircraft. 

 

CALC Establishes New Partnership With AZAL for Two Airbus A320neo Aircraft

China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited has signed lease agreements with Azerbaijan Airlines for two Airbus A320neo aircraft. The agreement marks the beginning of a new partnership between CALC and AZAL and CALC’s expanding presence in west Asia. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2027 and will support AZAL’s ongoing fleet expansion and modernisation strategy.

 

China Airlines Sells Four Boeing 747-400 Freighters to Cargolux 

China Airlines has agreed to sell four Boeing 747-400F freighter aircraft to Luxembourg-based Cargolux Airlines International. The transaction is valued at approximately US$85 million. The sale became effective on 23 June 2026 after final approval from Cargolux’s board of directors, following China Airlines’ board authorisation in November 2025. 

 

Cargo Wings Express Obtains Tunisian AOC 

Cargo Wings Express has obtained its Air Operator Certificate from the Tunisian Civil Aviation and Airports Authority. The AOC was granted on 12 June, and the carrier said it plans to begin Boeing 737-300 operations soon. Cargo Wings Express also plans to start flying to and from the European Union once it receives regulatory approval. 

 

Chinese Carriers Press Ahead With Global Route Expansion Amid Industry Turbulence 

China’s civil aviation industry is expanding capacity and growing its international route network amid global flight shortages, geopolitical risks, and rising oil prices. On Monday, China Eastern Airlines flight MU289 departed Shanghai Pudong International Airport bound for Stockholm. The flight marked the official resumption of the carrier’s direct route after a six-year hiatus.

 

China Southern Cargo Becomes First Known Mainland China Customer for Boeing 777-8F 

China Southern Cargo has become the first known carrier based in mainland China to select Boeing’s new 777-8F. The carrier has signed a deal with Boeing to purchase two 777Fs and five 777-8Fs. The order is valued at about US$3.62 billion at list prices, according to a filing by parent China Southern Airlines with the Shanghai Stock Exchange. 

 

De Havilland Canada Delivers First Twin Otter Classic 300-G to Ethiopian Airlines 

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited has delivered the first of two Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines. The aircraft will support Ethiopian Airlines’ efforts to expand regional connectivity. It will also provide access to remote communities, tourism destinations, and lake regions across Ethiopia and East Africa. 

 

Dynelectro Delivers DEU to Syntholene Energy’s e-SAF Project 

Dynelectro has delivered its first 250kW dynamic electrolyser unit to Syntholene Energy’s electric-sustainable aviation fuel demonstration project in Húsavík, Iceland. The DEU is expected to provide valuable operating data for the project. The data will support future optimisation and scale-up of the DEU platform and broader commercial power-to-X deployments. 

 

easyJet Confirms Loyalty Scheme Launch in Early 2027 

easyJet has confirmed it will launch a full loyalty programme in FY27.The airline said the programme will complement its focus on operational delivery, customer experience, and its returning customer base, with 71 percent of bookings coming from returning customers.easyJet will host a seminar on the new rewards proposition early next year, with the programme designed to further enhance its customer offering. 

 

Emirates Brings The Championships, Wimbledon to the Skies 

Emirates, the Official Airline Partner of The Championships, Wimbledon, is marking the 2026 tournament with onboard passenger experiences and hospitality for fans at SW19. The Championships are taking place from 29 June to 12 July at The All England Lawn Tennis Club. Emirates is helping passengers and fans engage with the tournament through Wimbledon-themed experiences and its signature hospitality.

 

Etihad and Condor Deepen Strategic Partnership With New Bangkok Service and Loyalty Agreement 

Etihad Airways and Condor have further strengthened their strategic partnership with the signing of a frequent flyer agreement. The agreement was signed at the IATA AGM in Rio de Janeiro. The announcement also included a new Condor service between Bangkok and Abu Dhabi. 

 

IATA Highlights Visa Openness as Key to Africa’s Air Connectivity Potential 

IATA has highlighted Africa’s expected position as the second-fastest-growing aviation market in the world over the next 20 years. While demand is strong and rising, intra-African connectivity remains limited and often expensive. This is because true connectivity depends not only on ticket prices, but also on whether people have both the ability and the incentive to travel.

City of Derry Airport Supports Ireland Masters World Cup Hockey 

City of Derry Airport has announced its support for the Ireland Masters Over 35s Hockey Team. The tournament will take place from 22 July to 1 August and will bring together masters hockey teams from across the globe. 

 

Dublin Airport Passenger Numbers Reach 37.3 Million in Twelve Months to End-May 

Dublin Airport handled around 3.5 million passengers in May 2026, showing growth against both May 2025 and pre-pandemic levels. Passenger traffic for the twelve months to the end of May reached around 37.3 million, up 7 percent on the previous year. Demand remained steady through the month, with most days passing 100,000 passengers, while traffic for the first five months of 2026 reached around 14.3 million passengers, also 7 percent higher than the same period in 2025. 

 

Hospitality Businesses Reminded to Prepare for 9 Per cent VAT Rate Reintroduction 

Hospitality and tourism operators across Ireland are being reminded to update their systems ahead of the return of the 9 per cent VAT rate on Wednesday, 1 July 2026. The reduced rate will apply to hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, cafes, tourism attractions, cultural admissions, and guided tours. The update is relevant for tourism and hospitality businesses preparing for the VAT change from July.

 

Ireland Completes Airborne Geophysics Survey Mapping the Entire Country 

Ireland has completed a detailed airborne geophysical survey, making it one of the few countries in the world to do so. The Tellus Programme has now undertaken its final flight after 16 years of work and more than 440,000 km of flying across the country. 

 

Investec Arranges US$870 Million Debt Facility in Partnership With FPG Amentum 

Investec has arranged a senior debt facility of approximately US$870 million. The facility will support the acquisition of an 11-aircraft widebody portfolio by a fund advised by BC Partners Credit. The transaction is being completed in partnership with aviation asset manager FPG Amentum. 

 

Irish Travel Agents Say It Is a Late Market for Holidaymakers 

Paul Hackett of Click&Go Holidays says the current market is a “lates market,” with many customers now booking trips for travel within the next eight to ten weeks. He links the shift to poor weather in Ireland, which is helping to boost booking activity. He adds that travellers are increasingly focused on value for money, with many prepared to pay slightly more for higher-quality accommodation or better-located options. 

 

ITOA and STN Launch Sustainability Programme for Inbound Tour Operators 

The Sustainable Tourism Network and Inbound Tour Operators Association of Ireland have delivered a 15-month sustainability programme. Sixteen ITOA member businesses participated in the initiative. Fourteen businesses received at least one sustainability award.

 

Ryanair Criticizes Tax Policy After Eurowings Base Closure in Graz 

Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair has criticized the Austrian federal government under Chancellor Stocker for the framework conditions in the national air transport market. The criticism follows Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings’ announcement that it will close its operational base at Graz Airport. Ryanair management representatives believe the move is a direct result of flawed aviation policy.
