New Discover Airlines Shannon–Frankfurt Service Takes Off
Discover Airlines inaugurated a new Shannon–Frankfurt service on 25 April, operated by Airbus A320-214 D-AIUV, msn 07174. The route will operate weekly until 24 October. Frankfurt provides onward connections across continental Europe as well as long-haul destinations in Asia, Africa and the Americas.
Morocco Secures Ryanair’s Biggest-Ever Winter Schedule
Morocco’s National Tourism Office has announced Ryanair’s largest-ever winter programme for the country for Winter 2026. The airline will operate 156 routes to and from Morocco, including 17 new routes from its Agadir, Marrakech and Rabat bases. Ryanair will offer 5.3 million seats, connect Morocco with 14 European countries and operate 16 based aircraft, with two additional aircraft added across a network serving 13 Moroccan airports.
Aer Lingus Operates One-Time Dublin–Manchester A330 Service
Aer Lingus operated a one-time Dublin–Manchester service on 1 September 2026 using a two-class, 313-seat Airbus A330-302 EI-EIN, msn 1951. The aircraft operated EIN204/5 in place of the usual two-class, 184-seat Airbus A321LR/XLR equipment. The substitution followed the UK bank holiday weekend, with the source citing higher demand as the likely reason.
Aer Lingus Regional Enhances Liverpool–Dublin Route for North American Connectivity
Aer Lingus Regional, operated exclusively by Emerald Airlines, is revising timings on its Liverpool–Dublin service to improve onward connectivity to North America. From 28 March 2027, a new morning departure from Liverpool John Lennon Airport will provide improved one-stop connections through Dublin Airport to Boston, Chicago, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia and Toronto.

Sky Vision Airlines Airbus A321-231 SU-SKJ, c/n 2653, ex OE-ILT, was delivered from Prague to Cairo on 21 August 2026. The aircraft was delivered in an all-white livery.
T2 Aviation Boeing 737-86J(F) VP-CBV Delivered to Lasham
T2 Aviation Boeing 737-86J(F) VP-CBV, c/n 30880, was delivered from Goodyear to Lasham via Phoenix, Bangor and Shannon between 23 and 25 August 2026.

Global Aviation Conference Frankfurt 2026 to Bring Together Aviation Leaders
The Global Aviation Conference Frankfurt 2026 will take place on 29–30 September at the Frankfurt Marriott Hotel, bringing together senior representatives from airlines, airports, lessors, MROs, manufacturers and service providers for industry discussions, networking and knowledge-sharing. Organised by Aviovis Group, the event will feature 11 panels on SAF and sustainability, digitalisation and AI, aftermarket pressures, maintenance and fleet reliability, airport innovation, and industry lessons.
Bahrain International Airshow Postponed Until November 2028
The eighth Bahrain International Airshow has been postponed from 18–20 November 2026 to 15–17 November 2028 at Sakhir Air Base. Organisers said the revised dates are intended to support broader participation from international exhibitors, visitors, official delegations and aerospace partners, with preparations continuing alongside industry stakeholders.
Airbus Records 67 Orders and Delivers 57 Aircraft in August
Airbus delivered 57 commercial aircraft to 31 customers in August 2026, with A321neos accounting for the largest share of deliveries. The manufacturer also recorded 67 gross orders, including 40 A321neos for Shenzhen Airlines, 15 A350-900s for China Airlines and eight A350Fs for an undisclosed customer. Airbus has delivered 475 aircraft to 83 customers so far in 2026.
La Compagnie to Launch All-Business-Class New York–Düsseldorf Route
La Compagnie will launch a seasonal nonstop service between Newark and Düsseldorf in spring 2027, operating up to five flights per week. The airline says it will be the only carrier offering direct flights between the two cities. The route will target business demand linked to North Rhine-Westphalia, while also serving leisure travellers from Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.
Discover Airlines Adds Alghero and Genoa Routes for Summer 2027
Discover Airlines will expand its Italian network in summer 2027 with new nonstop services from Munich to Alghero and Frankfurt to Genoa. The Munich–Alghero route will begin on 4 June and operate twice weekly, complementing existing Lufthansa Group services from Munich to Olbia and Cagliari. The airline says both new routes will be the only direct connections between the respective airport pairs.
Bombardier Faces Calls to Halt Aircraft Sales in the US
Bombardier is facing calls for an end to its aircraft sales in the United States amid criticism over the company’s reliance on the US market while manufacturing its business jets outside the country. The manufacturer nevertheless maintains a significant US presence and employs thousands of people across its American operations.
Portugal Extends TAP Privatisation Process Until End of 2026
Portugal has extended the TAP privatisation process until 31 December 2026, allowing a final three-week negotiation phase with Air France-KLM and Lufthansa. Both groups submitted binding offers in July for a 44.9 percent stake, with the government now seeking improved final proposals before selecting one bidder for exclusive negotiations.
Universal Aviation Begins Operations at Dammam’s New GAT
Universal Aviation has begun operations at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, opening Saudi Arabia’s first dedicated GAT/FBO and the Kingdom’s first state-sponsored dedicated general aviation hangar. Dammam is the first of three planned Universal Aviation flagship locations in Saudi Arabia, with Jeddah and Riyadh expected to open later this year.
NTSB Investigates Boeing 767 Runway Overrun at Miami
The NTSB is investigating a Boeing 767-300 runway overrun involving a 21 Air cargo aircraft at Miami International Airport. Investigators have recovered the flight recorders and are examining the aircraft’s systems, crew experience and weather conditions as part of the investigation. The NTSB said it is too early to determine the cause of the incident.
Etihad Brings Forward 194-Seat A321LR Service Entry to January 2027
Etihad Airways has brought forward the service entry of its three-class, 194-seat Airbus A321LR from 1 February to 1 January 2027. The aircraft will initially operate daily services from Abu Dhabi to Bangalore and Delhi. Further deployments are scheduled for Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai during the Northern summer 2027 season, with the revised A321LR programme focused mainly on India.
Five Indonesian Airports Resume Operations
Five Indonesian airports reopened after a two-day suspension of operations following the eruption of Anak Krakatau. Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport resumed operations at 12:30 AM on Tuesday after grounding flights on Sunday morning. 3,000 flights were affected by the airport closures and more than 340,000 passengers were stranded during the closures.

Farnborough Highlights Next Phase of Aircraft Electrification
Hybrid-electric flight demonstrations at Farnborough International Airshow 2026 showed aircraft electrification moving further from research into practical development. BAE Systems supported GE Aerospace’s demonstration by providing the energy storage system. The development also highlighted the importance of integrating advanced electrical power systems into a single reliable architecture to support safe, efficient and economically viable everyday operations.
London Luton Airport Clears Legal Hurdles for Expansion to 32 Million Passengers
London Luton Airport has cleared all legal hurdles for plans to expand capacity from 18 million passengers annually to 32 million by the 2040s. The airport is expected to exceed its current 18 million passenger capacity this year. The expansion builds on continued infrastructure development as Luton looks to support further growth in both outbound and inbound travel.
Munich Airport Brings Oktoberfest Celebrations to Its Terminals
Munich Airport is marking the 2026 Oktoberfest season with Bavarian food, festival beer, live music and traditional clothing displays across its terminals. A pop-up store will operate from 2 September to 4 October, while the airport’s Airbräu brewery will begin its own Oktoberfest celebrations on 19 September. The programme also includes traditional styling, Bavarian menus and gingerbread hearts for travellers and visitors.
Ryanair Calls for Extension of EES Derogation Until April 2027
Ryanair has asked the EU Commission to extend the Entry/Exit System derogation until at least April 2027 following its expiry on 6 September. The derogation allowed Member States to temporarily suspend EES where border congestion became severe. Ryanair cited longer processing times and queues at several European airports during the summer as reasons for extending the flexibility.
Jet2holidays Brings Back ‘Bid for a Break’ Campaign
Jet2holidays has relaunched its ‘Bid for a Break’ campaign, running from 4 to 11 September. Customers can bid for a seven-night family holiday and choose between Corfu or La Palma, with one winning bidder securing the trip at their bid price. The campaign includes stays at the four-star Aeolos Beach Resort in Corfu or Melia La Palma in La Palma for two adults and two children.
IrishAero Commercial Aircraft Report Highlights Latest Fleet Movements
The latest IrishAero report records a number of aircraft deliveries, ferry flights and registration changes. CityJet CRJ1000s EI-HIB and EI-HIC were ferried from Copenhagen to Maastricht, while Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of Boeing 737-8s ET-BCR and ET-BCS via Dublin. Fly One Asia received Airbus A321-271N N742NK in Tashkent, while two Magnetic MRO A320s were registered at Castellón. Other movements included a Skyway Airlines 737 freighter delivery, a Cebu Pacific A320 return to lessor, and ASL Airlines Australia Boeing 737-86N(F) VH-AZ4 being registered at Shannon.
Shannon–Toronto Route Expected to Support Investment Links for Clare Businesses
Shannon Chamber says the return of direct Shannon–Toronto services will create new opportunities for investment and business links in Clare. Air Canada will operate three weekly flights from Shannon to Toronto Pearson from June 2027, restoring direct connectivity between Shannon and Canada for the first time since 2018. Shannon Chamber CEO Helen Downes said the route will also help strengthen Ireland’s relationship with Canada.
Shannon Airport Removes 100ml Liquid Limit for Hand Luggage.
Passengers departing from Shannon Airport can now carry liquids, aerosols and gels in containers of up to two litres in their hand luggage, replacing the previous 100ml limit. The change follows further upgrades to the airport’s 3D C3 security scanners. Passengers can also continue to leave liquids and electronic devices such as laptops inside their cabin bags during screening.
Galway Flying Club Celebrates 80 Years with Anniversary Fly-In
Galway Flying Club marked its 80th anniversary with a special Breakfast Fly-In at Galway Airport. Founded in 1946, it is Ireland’s oldest continuously operating flying club and has been based at Carnmore since the mid-1970s. Visiting aircraft were allowed to attend under special permission, with pre-booked arrival slots required due to operational restrictions. Demand was strong, with available slots heavily oversubscribed ahead of the event.
Belfast City Airport Opens Community Fund Applications and Launches Environmental Grant
Belfast City Airport has opened applications for its Community Fund, inviting community groups, charities, schools and local organisations across Greater Belfast and North Down to apply for support. The fund has provided more than 780,000 pounds to 262 projects since its launch. This year, the airport has also introduced a new 10,000 pound environmental grant for a project focused on biodiversity, sustainability or both.
Loganair and CHAS Take Families on Special Scenic Flight from Glasgow
Loganair and charity partner Children’s Hospices Across Scotland hosted six families on a special scenic flight from Glasgow Airport aboard an ATR 72-600. The flight travelled across Scotland’s west coast and Highlands and Islands, with families receiving a dedicated airport and onboard experience. The aircraft returned to Glasgow Airport with a water cannon salute from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
