New Discover Airlines Shannon–Frankfurt Service Takes Off
Discover Airlines inaugurated a new Shannon–Frankfurt service on 25 April, operated by Airbus A320-214 D-AIUV, msn 07174. The route will operate weekly until 24 October. Frankfurt provides onward connections across continental Europe as well as long-haul destinations in Asia, Africa and the Americas.
Morocco Secures Ryanair’s Biggest-Ever Winter Schedule
Morocco’s National Tourism Office has announced Ryanair’s largest-ever winter programme for the country for Winter 2026. The airline will operate 156 routes to and from Morocco, including 17 new routes from its Agadir, Marrakech and Rabat bases. Ryanair will offer 5.3 million seats, connect Morocco with 14 European countries and operate 16 based aircraft, with two additional aircraft added across a network serving 13 Moroccan airports.
Aer Lingus Operates One-Time Dublin–Manchester A330 Service
Aer Lingus operated a one-time Dublin–Manchester service on 1 September 2026 using a two-class, 313-seat Airbus A330-302 EI-EIN, msn 1951. The aircraft operated EIN204/5 in place of the usual two-class, 184-seat Airbus A321LR/XLR equipment. The substitution followed the UK bank holiday weekend, with the source citing higher demand as the likely reason.
Aer Lingus Regional Enhances Liverpool–Dublin Route for North American Connectivity
Aer Lingus Regional, operated exclusively by Emerald Airlines, is revising timings on its Liverpool–Dublin service to improve onward connectivity to North America. From 28 March 2027, a new morning departure from Liverpool John Lennon Airport will provide improved one-stop connections through Dublin Airport to Boston, Chicago, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia and Toronto.

TAROM Boeing 737-8 YR-BGO, c/n 60196, line no. 9799, was delivered from Boeing Field to Bucharest via Keflavík between 7 and 8 September 2026.

El Al Boeing 737-8H4 4X-EKW, c/n 42522, line no. 4955, ex N8634A, was delivered from Kansas City to Tel Aviv via New York JFK and Keflavík between 7 and 9 September 2026.

Logan Airport Plans New Security Screening Technology
Boston Logan International Airport is preparing to introduce security changes aimed at making passenger screening faster and more secure. Planned measures include new e-gates and scanners designed to “digitally unpack” bags, potentially reducing the need for passengers to present identification manually or remove items such as laptops during screening.
El Niño Could Affect Flight Operations During Winter
Airlines could face more unpredictable operating conditions this winter as a very strong El Niño develops across the Pacific Ocean. World Meteorological Organisation forecasts suggest the climate pattern could intensify in the coming months and continue into early 2027. Potential aviation impacts include changes in turbulence, flight times and jet streams, as well as weather-related delays and disruption at airports.
Trinity Takes Delivery of First Boeing 737-8 in New Livery
Aviation Capital Group has delivered a new Boeing 737-8 to South Korean carrier Trinity Airways, formerly T’way Air. Delivered from ACG’s orderbook, the aircraft is the first to enter service in Trinity’s new grey and rose gold livery. It will support the carrier’s growth and connectivity between South Korea and the wider Asia-Pacific region from its Incheon and Gimpo hubs.
QantasLink’s First E190 Arrives in Perth
QantasLink’s first Embraer E190, VH-E9A, has arrived in Perth as part of its fleet renewal programme for Western Australian resources charter operations. The aircraft completed a 20-hour journey from Norwich in the UK, stopping in Bulgaria, Tajikistan, India, Malaysia and Broome before arriving in Perth on 7 September.
Breeze Airways Moves to All-A220 Fleet
Breeze Airways has retired its final Embraer E190, completing its transition to an all-Airbus A220-300 fleet. The airline launched operations in May 2021 with 10 E190s and three E195s before receiving its first A220s in December that year. Breeze had originally planned to move all scheduled services to the A220 by early 2025 but retained its E190s for longer, particularly on shorter routes.
Airbus Secures Order for Eight More A350 Freighters
Airbus has secured an order for eight additional A350F freighters from an undisclosed customer, increasing total firm orders for the type to 115 aircraft. The latest commitment comes as Airbus prepares the first A350F test aircraft for its maiden flight, marking another step forward in the freighter programme.
Air Cairo Places Firm Order for 15 Airbus A320neo Aircraft
Air Cairo has placed a firm order for 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft as it moves towards direct aircraft ownership and continues expanding its fleet. The Egyptian carrier currently operates more than 45 aircraft across domestic, regional and international routes, compared with seven aircraft five years ago, and plans to grow to 130 aircraft by 2034. The order was placed at the El Alamein International Airshow at El Alamein International Airport.
Royal Jordanian Adds 17th A320neo Family Aircraft as Fleet Reaches 36
Royal Jordanian has taken delivery of its 17th Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, with 10 aircraft added since the beginning of 2026 as part of its fleet renewal programme. The latest delivery brings the airline’s total fleet to 36 aircraft. Another A320neo Family aircraft is due in December, taking the type to 18 by year-end, followed by one additional aircraft in both 2027 and 2028 for a total of 20.

Ryanair Calls for NATS Leadership Change Following UK ATC System Failure
Ryanair has called for NATS CEO Martin Rolfe to step down following a UK air traffic control system failure on 8 September that caused widespread delays and cancellations. The airline said more than 65,000 of its passengers were affected by delays of up to eight hours, while over 50 scheduled flights were cancelled. Ryanair also noted that UK air traffic control charges paid by airlines have increased by 28 percent since 2022, and criticised the recurrence of system issues following the August 2023 disruption.
UK Air Traffic Control Failure Causes Widespread Flight Cancellations
A NATS technical issue on 8 September forced flight plans to be processed manually for several hours, resulting in widespread disruption. More than 70 inbound and outbound flights were cancelled at Dublin Airport, while Ryanair reported 65,000 passengers affected and over 50 cancellations. British Airways diverted or cancelled more than 100 flights, and Dublin Airport warned that some disruption could continue into 9 September.
CDB Aviation Completes Five A321neo Deliveries to LATAM
CDB Aviation has completed the delivery of five Airbus A321-271NX aircraft to LATAM Airlines Group under leasing agreements signed in 2025. Powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, the deliveries bring the number of CDB Aviation A321neos leased to LATAM to six. The aircraft support LATAM’s fleet diversification and network flexibility strategy, with the A321neo intended to help lower operating costs and carbon emissions while enabling direct services from South America to destinations in the Caribbean and North America.
Belfast City Airport Opens Applications for Community Fund
Belfast City Airport has opened applications for its Community Fund to community groups, charities, schools and local organisations across Greater Belfast and North Down. The fund has provided more than 780,000 pounds to 262 projects since its inception. This year, the airport has also introduced a new 10,000 pound environmental grant for a project focused on biodiversity, sustainability or both.
Loganair Launches Autumn Tartan Sale Across Network
Loganair has launched its limited-time Autumn Tartan Sale, offering 17 percent off flights across its network. Customers can book between 8 and 15 September 2026 for travel from 1 October onwards using the promotional code TARTAN17. The sale follows the release of most of Loganair’s summer 2027 schedule and also allows customers to book travel for periods including Christmas 2026.
Dublin Airport Returns to Full Schedule Following UK ATC Fault
Dublin Airport said it returned to a full flight schedule on Wednesday following the UK air traffic control fault that caused widespread disruption the previous day. The issue affected airports including Heathrow and resulted in lengthy departure delays and flight cancellations. According to flight-monitoring site Flightradar24, around 200 flights were cancelled in total on Tuesday.

Shannon Airport has been named a finalist in the Under 5 Million Passengers category at the Routes World Awards 2026. The award recognises performance in areas including route development, airline partnerships and aviation marketing.
Shannon Records Strongest Passenger Growth Among Major Irish Airports
Shannon Airport recorded the strongest passenger growth among Ireland’s major airports in July, with traffic increasing by almost 9 per cent year on year. The airport was also the fastest-growing major Irish airport in May and June, making July the third consecutive month in that position. The UK, Spain, the US, Poland and Portugal were among Shannon’s most popular destinations during the period.
