Boeing to Gain as China Agrees to Recognize U.S. Safety Approval The U.S. and China agreed to recognize the other’s aircraft safety approvals, which may boost the Asian nation’s burgeoning aviation industry and make it easier for companies like Boeing to sell products there. Each nation will move toward automatic approvals of aircraft designs, manufacturing and equipment, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a press release. It’s similar to agreements between the U.S. and Canada, and the U.S. and Europe, which have mature aircraft manufacturing industries. China to take first 737 Max 'imminently' Boeing has confirmed that its 737 Max has received certification for entry and operations in China, and that first deliveries will soon take place. This follows a bilateral airworthiness agreement signed between China and the US earlier this month. According to FlightGlobal, Boeing says that the agreement includes the vehicle type certification of new aircraft like the 737 Max to operate in China. China to overtake US as world’s largest aviation market by 2022 IATA revised its annual 20-year air passenger forecast upward by over a half-billion passengers Oct. 24, and indicated China will overtake the US as the world’s largest aviation market “around 2022,” several years faster than perviosuly predicted. China’s overtaking of the US as the world’s largest aviation market will come as a result of slightly faster Chinese growth combined with slightly reduced US growth. GECAS takes delivery of first A320neo from Airbus’ Tianjin factory for AirAsia GECAS has taken delivery of MSN 7803 from Tianjin, China. Leased to AirAsia, this aircraft is the first A320neo from the Tianjin Airbus factory for both AirAsia and GECAS. AirAsia currently has a fleet of 184 delivered aircraft from Airbus, and seven on lease from GECAS. The Airbus Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Tianjin is the first to operate outside of Europe and is designed based on the state-of-the-art A320 Family FAL in Hamburg, Germany. GE and COMAC Launches the Third Wave of GCAT Program GE (including AVIAGE SYSTEMS, a 50/50 joint company between GE and AVIC) and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) had a special ceremony in Shanghai to celebrate the graduation of the second wave and the inauguration of the third wave of the jointly established Global Civil Aviation Talent Program (GCAT). Sixteen newly elected trainees from GE, COMAC and AVIAGE SYSTEMS will participate in the third wave while the 16 graduates of the second wave will return to their former companies. Honda Aircraft Company Expands HondaJet Sales to China, Hong Kong and Macau Honda Aircraft Company announced that it has expanded sales of the HondaJet in Greater China with the appointment of Honsan General Aviation Co. Ltd., based in Guangzhou, as a HondaJet dealer in China, providing sales, service and support for the world's most advanced light jet throughout China, Hong Kong and Macau. Honsan General Aviation will be based at the new business jet terminal being constructed at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Guangzhou, China. The first phase is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Windecker Aircraft Eagle Production to Begin Soon in China Windecker Aircraft’s North American R&D facility expects to complete its work soon with the FAA and the CAAC for a Type Certificate Validation (VTC) for the Windecker Eagle I aircraft. Windecker’s China-based parent company intends to produce new modernized versions of the Windecker Eagle, which first received a Type Certificate in 1969.
