                                                     Russia, CIS region 3 August Air India to double fleet by leasing 100 planes The government has decided that Air India will almost double its fleet by adding over 100 aircraft, but without burdening the exchequer with a mammoth debt burden like last time. The airline will grow by leasing aircraft instead of purchasing them — the model adopted by Congress-led UPA. Aviation Capital sells portfolio Aviation Capital Group (ACG), the commercial aircraft leasing subsidiary of Pacific Life Insurance Company, has announced the sale of a portfolio of aircraft to a financial investor. The mid-life portfolio consists of in-production A320 and B737 family aircraft. The aircraft are on lease to a globally diverse group of airlines. Etihad Airways and Natixis close the first Aircraft Leasing Transactions in Abu Dhabi Global Market Etihad Airways and Natixis have completed a Sale and Leaseback for two 2016 vintage Airbus A380 aircraft. Both aircraft are owned by special purpose companies based in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the world’s newest international financial centre (IFC), and are leased to Etihad for a period of 12 years. Fokker looks to fleet expansion in Africa, Australia and LatAm GKN Aerospace's Fokker business has announced that a total of 42 Fokker aircraft were placed in 2016 compared with 50 transactions in 2015. Fokker facilitates placements by sellers and lessors through its FLYFokker programme and remarketing services, in addition to providing comprehensive support to Fokker aircraft operators throughout the world. Investment Vehicles Managed by New York-Based Marathon Asset Management Announces Purchase of Boeing 737-800 on Lease to Comair of South Africa with servicing provided by Altavair Investment vehicles managed by New York-based investment adviser Marathon Asset Management, LP completed the purchase of one B737-800 from Global Knafim Leasing. The 1999 vintage aircraft is on lease to Comair through 2021 and marks the second Marathon B737-800 leased to the South African airline. Marathon has engaged Altavair LLC (formerly Guggenheim Aviation Partners) to act as the services. Kan Air to soar again with ATR 72-500 According to the Bangkok Post privately owned Kan Air has concluded an lease agreement for an ATR72-500 and is negotiating for two more with two other lessors and is in talks with an European lessor to acquire an Airbus A319. Nepal Airlines awards A330 lease contract Nepal Airlines has formally awarded US lessor AAR Aircraft Sales & Leasing the contract for the supply of two A330-200s following a Request For Proposals (RFP) issued in September last year to replace two Boeing 757-200s. TrueNoord commits to purchase six Embraer E190 aircraft with leases attached TrueNoord Regional Aircraft Leasing announces its purchase of six Embraer E190 aircraft. The portfolio is made up of globally operated aircraft with leases attached and this significant investment marks the start of a highly targeted on-going development and growth strategy for the TrueNoord fleet under lease, following investment from private equity firm Bregal Freshstream.
