Air India grows European route network

Air India announced it will commence a new route between Delhi and Amsterdam operating four times weekly with a two class Boeing 787-8 aircraft, effective from 11 June, becoming the eighth European city to be connected by the carrier. Air India MD & CEO Campbell Wilson said, “With the launch of this new non-stop flight to Amsterdam, Air India adds further breadth to our long-haul network and more options for our customers. Together with the three other European routes started in recent months, and others to come, it supports our objective of establishing Delhi as a significant international hub.”

 

Akasa Air Learning Academy (AALA) expands

Akasa Air announced phase two of its training and development centre - Akasa Air Learning Academy (AALA) in Gurugram, to enhance its capabilities in providing hands-on and experiential training to its fast-growing employee base including pilots, cabin crew, engineers and airport services and security personnel. Its new door trainer simulator enables the cabin crew to practice normal and emergency situations in a realistic operational environment.  Akasa Air Founder and CEO Vinay Dube, said, "We are confident about our future and continue to invest in it. Nothing we do at Akasa is short term in nature. Accordingly, the significant financial investment that we have made will pay rich dividends for multiple years to come. The expansion of our training academy is a testament to our deep commitment in creating an employee and customer centric organisation. The academy will not just mould our employees to become the champions of Akasa culture and values but also develop a future ready workforce to gain a competitive advantage in the aviation landscape”.  

 

IndiGo enhance passenger experience

IndiGo announced the arrival of its first aircraft fitted with Recaro Aircraft Seating’s new economy class seat, the BL3710. The seat is customized trim and finish, the lightweight seat features numerous comfort features, including integrated neck support, an ergonomic backrest and generous living space for its new Airbus A320neo family deliveries. Indigo CEO Pieter Elbers, said "We are thrilled to be the first airline in the subcontinent to offer the award-winning RECARO Aircraft Seating BL3710 onboard our aircraft. The addition of these new seats to our brand-new A321neo aircraft will elevate the overall travel experience for our customers, providing them with more comfort and convenience on short and medium-haul flights. As we continue to expand our network and offer more flight options, we will remain true to our promise of courteous, hassle-free, on-time, and affordable travel experience."
